Cellular-connected unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) communications is an enabling technology to transmit control signaling or payload data for UAVs through cellular networks. Due to the line-of-sight dominant air-to-ground channels, efficient interference mitigation is crucial to UAV communications, while the conventional fixed-position antenna (FPA) arrays have limited degrees of freedom to suppress the interference between the UAV and its non-associated co-channel base stations (BSs). To address this challenge, we propose in this letter a new approach by utilizing the six-dimensional movable antenna (6DMA) arrays to enhance the interference mitigation for the UAV. Specifically, we propose an efficient block coordinate descent algorithm to iteratively optimize the antenna position vector, array rotation vector, receive beamforming vector, and associated BS of the UAV to maximize its signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio. Numerical results show that the proposed 6DMA enhanced cellular-connected UAV communication can significantly outperform that with the traditional FPA arrays and other benchmark schemes in terms of interference mitigation. © 2025 IEEE. Visible light communication (VLC) is a rapidly growing wireless communication technology for the Internet of Things (IoT) that offers high data rates and low latency, making it ideal for massive connectivity. Efficient resource allocation is essential in VLC networks to minimize inter-symbol and cochannel interferences, which can greatly improve network performance and user satisfaction. This paper focuses on an indoor IoT-based VLC system that utilizes photodetectors (PDs) on users’ cell phones as receivers, with the goal of maximizing system performances and reducing power consumption by selectively activating some PDs while deactivating others. However, this objective presents a challenge due to the inherent non-convex nature of the multi-objective optimization problem, which cannot be solved by analytical means. To address this, we propose an enhanced Aquila optimization (EAO) scheme that improves upon the Aquila Optimizer (AO) by incorporating a fitness distance balance (FDB) function. We evaluate our proposed EAO in various scenarios under different settings, considering both capacity and fairness metrics. Through simulations, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach and its superiority over classical algorithms such as Aquila Optimizer (AO), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) in finding the optimal solution. Our results confirm that the proposed EAO algorithm can efficiently optimize the system capacity and ensure fairness among all users, providing a promising solution for indoor VLC systems.

This paper presents an adaptive online learning framework for systems with uncertain parameters to ensure safety-critical control in non-stationary environments. Our approach consists of two phases. The initial phase is centered on a novel sparse Gaussian process (GP) framework. We first integrate a forgetting factor to refine a variational sparse GP algorithm, thus enhancing its adaptability. Subsequently, the hyperparameters of the Gaussian model are trained with a specially compound kernel, and the Gaussian model’s online inferential capability and computational efficiency are strengthened by updating a solitary inducing point derived from newly samples, in conjunction with the learned hyperparameters. In the second phase, we propose a safety filter based on high order control barrier functions (HOCBFs), synergized with the previously trained learning model. By leveraging the compound kernel from the first phase, we effectively address the inherent limitations of GPs in handling high-dimensional problems for real-time applications. The derived controller ensures a rigorous lower bound on the probability of satisfying the safety specification. Finally, the efficacy of our proposed algorithm is demonstrated through real-time obstacle avoidance experiments executed using both simulation platform and a real-world 7-DOF robot. Results from follow-on neutron testing of the Xilinx Versal Prime adaptive compute acceleration platform (ACAP) are presented. The Xilinx Versal is an adaptive computing platform that is designed to do high-speed artificial intelligence calculations. The Versal VMK180 evaluation board was irradiated in August 2022 at Los Alamos Neutron Science Center (LANSCE). The results are compared to the 2021 results from the same facility. The newer results show more clarity in the single-event upset (SEU) and single-event functional interrupt (SEFI) cross sections.

A 915MHz ultra-low-power blocker-enhanced wake- up receiver (BE-WuRx) is presented in a 65nm CMOS process. Employing the proposed frequency-hopping two-tone modulation (FH-TTM), the BE-WuRx can dynamically convert the in-band blocker power to data power, and achieves a −63.6dBm sensitivity without blocker and a −90dBm enhanced sensitivity with a −25dBm CW interferer, while just consuming $\mathbf{19}\mathbf{\mu}\mathbf{W}$ . With the −63.6dBm sensitivity, the BE-WuRx performs 53dB tolerance to the in-band blocker, exhibiting 14dB improvement compared to the case that FH- TTM is off. The wake-up latency is 6.4ms for a quiet channel and 6.4 to 64ms for a congested channel.

SNNs have achieved great attention in recent years as they contain neurons more like those in the brain and use spikes to encode and transmit information efficiently among neurons with lower energy consumption. A Retina-LGN-V1 structure-like spiking neuron network (RLVSL-SNN) is proposed in this paper. It is inspired by the structure of mammalian primary visual pathway, and simulates different biological structures of Retina, LGN and V1. Noise reduction circuit and light adaptation circuit are also simulated for enhancing the robustness of its extracted features. RLVSL-SNN is a bio-plausible neuron network as it has firing rates of neurons in each layer that are similar to those of biological experiments. Besides, a full-connected SNN (FC SNN) is implemented following RLVSL-SNN for classification to evaluate the extracted features. The additive spiking timing dependent plasticity (STDP) learning rules and the ANN-to-SNN conversion method are utilized to train RLVSL-SNN and FC SNN, respectively. The experiments on MNIST dataset have verified that RLVSL-SNN is comparable to AlexNet for classification by features from spikes.

In recent years, the GAA NS Si MOSFET has been explored as a leading technology. However, the intrinsic parameters of GAA NS Si MOSFETs are affected to varying degrees by various fluctuation sources, Statistically independent and identically distributed $(iid)$ assumptions on the aforementioned random variables overestimate the variability of high-frequency characteristics, compared with considering all fluctuation factors simultaneously. Notably, the random nanosized metal grains dominates the variations of voltage gain, cut-off frequency, and 3dB frequency because the random work functions strongly alter the channel surface potential.

Mission critical communications require ultra-high reliability guarantees. It is a natural idea to combine massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) and repetition transmission to further improve the reliability. In this paper, we combine the irregular repetition scheme with the massive MIMO with grant-free access. By introducing random transmission patterns for replicas, the collision problem of grant-free access is mitigated. Considering finite block-length coding, as well as sporadic and periodic arrivals of mission critical traffic, the reliability is thoroughly analyzed and derived in closed form. The theoretical analysis is finally verified through computer simulations. It is observed that the reliability of periodic traffic is superior to the sporadic one in large MIMO systems.

Non-Hermiticity, usually represented in the context of gain and loss, gives rise to many exotic topological phenomena and offers more opportunities to steering topological functions. In modern acoustics, it has been widely perceived that the topological mode will be altered if topological phase changes. Our work shows otherwise in non-Hermitian acoustic crystals. We experimentally demonstrate an acoustic quadrupole topological insulator, whose topological corner, edge, and bulk modes could be arbitrarily engineered at any desired positions with its topological phase maintained. These non-Hermiticity-controlled topological modes bestow a bulk structure with unique features beyond the classical bulky state, offering a reconfigurable and versatile approach to manipulating topological phenomena. This non-Hermitian scheme can be readily generalized to other topological systems in various dimensions, such as the three-dimensional photonic/phononic lattices, which offer advanced and externally controllable recipes for manipulating topological phenomena.
