The sole situation of semi-crystalline structure induced single performance remarkably limits the green cryogels in the application of soft devices due to uncontrolled freezing field. Here, a facile strategy for achieving multifunctionality of cryogels is proposed using total amorphization of polymer. Through precisely lowering the freezing point of precursor solutions with an antifreezing salt, the suppressed growth of ice is achieved, creating an unusually weak and homogenous aggregation of polymer chains upon freezing, thereby realizing the tunable amorphization of polymer and the coexistence of free and hydrogen bonding hydroxyl groups. Such multi-scale microstructures trigger the integrated properties of tissue-like ultrasoftness (Young’s modulus <10 kPa) yet stretchability, high transparency (~92%), self-adhesion, and instantaneous self-healing (<0.3 s) for cryogels, along with superior ionic-conductivity, antifreezing (−58 °C) and water-retention abilities, pushing the development of skin-like cryogel electronics. These concepts open an attractive branch for cryogels that adopt regulated crystallization behavior for on-demand functionalities. © 2023, Springer Nature Limited.

Pushing artificial intelligence (AI) from central cloud to network edge has reached board consensus in both industry and academia for materializing the vision of artificial intelligence of things (AIoT) in the sixth-generation (6G) era. This gives rise to an emerging research area known as edge intelligence, which concerns the distillation of human-like intelligence from the huge amount of data scattered at wireless network edge. In general, realizing edge intelligence corresponds to the process of sensing, communication, and computation, which are coupled ingredients for data generation, exchanging, and processing, respectively. However, conventional wireless networks design the sensing, communication, and computation separately in a task-agnostic manner, which encounters difficulties in accommodating the stringent demands of ultra-low latency, ultra-high reliability, and high capacity in emerging AI applications such as auto-driving. This thus prompts a new design paradigm of seamless integrated sensing, communication, and computation (ISCC) in a task-oriented manner, which comprehensively accounts for the use of the data in the downstream AI applications. In view of its growing interest, this article provides a timely overview of ISCC for edge intelligence by introducing its basic concept, design challenges, and enabling techniques, surveying the state-of-the-art development, and shedding light on the road ahead. Policy makers are formulating offshore energy infrastructure plans, including wind turbines, electrolyzers, and HVDC transmission lines. An effective market design is crucial to guide cost-efficient investments and dispatch decisions. This paper jointly studies the impact of offshore market design choices on the investment in offshore electrolyzers and HVDC transmission capacity. We present a bilevel model that incorporates investments in offshore energy infrastructure, day-ahead market dispatch, and potential redispatch actions near real-time to ensure transmission constraints are respected. Our findings demonstrate that full nodal pricing, i.e., nodal pricing both onshore and offshore, outperforms the onshore zonal combined with offshore nodal pricing or offshore zonal layouts. While combining onshore zonal with offshore nodal pricing can be considered as a second-best option, it generally diminishes the profitability of offshore wind farms. However, if investment costs of offshore electrolyzers are relatively low, they can serve as catalysts to increase the revenues of the offshore wind farms. This study contributes to the understanding of market designs for highly interconnected offshore power systems, offering insights into the impact of congestion pricing methodologies on investment decisions. In our study, we aimed to explore the psychiatric disorders, risk factors, and predictors of self-immolation among individuals admitted to Shahid Motahari Hospital in Tehran from 2019 to 2020. This cross-sectional study examines 64 hospitalized patients who received psychiatric counseling following self-immolation incidents. The rate of self-immolation varies significantly based on specific demographics. It is observed that in our population men had a higher rate of being unmarried (70.96 % vs 15.15 %), lower levels of education (70.96 % vs 63.63 % did not have a university degree), higher level of unemployment (54.83 % vs 30.30 %), younger age average with most men aging 15–24 (29.06 (SD = 9.33)) vs women 35–44 (35.27(SD = 10.27)) and higher prevalence of addiction (67.74 % vs 36.36 %) compared to women. On the other hand, women who attempted self-immolation mainly were married, involved in housekeeping, and tended to exhibit higher rates of depression (63.63 % vs 32.25 %) than men. Furthermore, these self-immolation incidents are often impulsive (64.1 %) and occur shortly (under an hour) after experiencing a stressor (39.1 %). Self-immolation accidents are frequently carried out using gasoline (50 %). Geographically, the majority of self-immolation cases of our study are concentrated in the central region of Iran (76.6 %), followed by the western region (15.6 %) this may be due to the proximity of these regions to our center while patients of other regions were hospitalized in their referral hospitals and were rarely transferred to the capital. To effectively address the issue of self-immolation and reduce its prevalence, it is essential to identify vulnerable populations and explore targeted preventive measures. Based on our findings, future pilot studies could investigate the feasibility of specific interventions, such as crisis hotlines to reduce impulsivity-related acts of self-immolation. The Linear Parameter-Varying (LPV) framework has been introduced with the intention to provide stability and performance guarantees for analysis and controller synthesis for Nonlinear (NL) systems via convex methods. By extending results of the Linear Time-Invariant framework, mainly based on quadratic stability and performance using dissipativity theory, it has been assumed that they generalize tracking and disturbance rejection guarantees for NL systems. However, as has been shown in literature, stability and performance through standard dissipativity is not sufficient in order to satisfy the desired guarantees in case of reference tracking and disturbance rejection for nonlinear systems. We propose to solve this problem by the application of incremental dissipativity, which does ensure these specifications. A novel approach is proposed to synthesize and realize an NL controller which is able to guarantee incremental stability and performance for NL systems via convex optimization using methods from the LPV framework. Through simulations and experiments, the presented method is compared to standard LPV controller designs, showing significant performance improvements. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. Considering the sequential clearing of energy and reserves in Europe, enabling inter-area reserve exchange requires optimally allocating inter-area transmission capacities between these two markets. To achieve this, we provide a market-based allocation framework and derive payments with desirable properties. The proposed min-max least core selecting payments achieve individual rationality, budget balance, and approximate incentive compatibility and coalitional stability. The Brewster effect, dating back to the pioneering work of Sir David Brewster in 1815, offers a crucial route to achieve 100% energy conversion between the incident and transmitted propagating waves at an optical interface and is of fundamental importance to many practical applications, such as polarization filtering, beam steering, and optical broadband angular selectivity. However, whether the Brewster effect of surface waves can be implemented without the involvement of negative-permittivity or negative-permeability materials remains elusive. This is due to the formidable challenge to fully suppress both the parasitic scattering into propagating waves and the reflection into surface waves under the incidence of surface waves. Here, we reveal a feasible route to achieve scattering-free plasmonic Brewster effect via isotropic metasurfaces, along with the usage of positive-permittivity and positive-permeability metamaterials with both anisotropic and magnetic responses. In essence, the anisotropic response of metamaterials is judiciously designed to fully suppress the parasitic scattering into propagating waves, while the magnetic response of metamaterials facilitates the full suppression of the reflection into surface waves supported by metasurfaces. Moreover, we find that this plasmonic Brewster effect via metasurfaces can be further engineered to occur for arbitrary incident angles, giving rise to the exotic phenomenon of all-angle scattering-free plasmonic Brewster effect. © 2024, CC BY.
