The interaction of a soliton of the Nonlinear Schrodinger Equation (NSE) with a weak sinusoidal wave packet is treated analytically, The second-order soliton solution containing the original soliton and a perturbing soliton is expanded to first order in the amplitude of the perturbating soliton, From this expansion, one obtains the associate function of Gordon [4] and a continuous change of position and phase of the perturbed soliton, One finds that the soliton experiences a second-order change of velocity under the influence of the perturbation. This result is then used to derive the displacement due to a wave packet of general shape, which is also confirmed by computer simulation.

The problem of defining an appropriate measure of the degree of nonstationarity for stochastic processes that exhibit cyclostationarity is addressed. After discussing several candidate measures of degree of nonstationarity, one particularly promising measure is adopted. By decomposing this measure, several component measures are arrived at. Bounds on these measures are derived and their utility in applications involving signal detection and estimation is established. Examples are presented to illustrate the calculation of degrees of nonstationarity for several types of cyclostationary signals.

Increasing penetration of Distributed Generation (DG). when not planned appropriately by the Distribution Network Operator may lead to opposite results that are displaced as externalities on adjacent grids. Reverse Power Flow (RPF) by means of an upstream power flow leaving the grid under study and heading to the neighbouring ones could be such an issue and need to be considered and modelled accordingly. This paper introduces two implementations of constriction factor Embedded-Local PSO Variant algorithms along with the appropriate particle formulation that focus on the Optimal Distributed Generation Placement (ODGP) problem solving, by taking into account the impact of possible RPF. loth RPF methods are applied to either radial or meshed IEEE test systems and a detailed comparison is presented. Focus is given on how the integration of RPF would affect the final solution to the ODGP problem, but the same RPF modelling strategies could be applied under different target functions as well.
