In this study,we present for the first time the application of physics-informed neural network(PINN)to fretting fatigue *** PINN has recently been applied to pure fatigue lifetime prediction,it has not yet been explored in the case of fretting *** propose a data-assisted PINN(DA-PINN)for predicting fretting fatigue crack initiation *** traditional PINN that solves partial differential equations for specific problems,DA-PINN combines experimental or numerical data with physics equations as part of the loss function to enhance prediction *** DA-PINN method,employed in this study,consists of two main ***,damage parameters are obtained from the finite element method by using critical plane method,which generates a data set used to train an artificial neural network(ANN)for predicting damage parameters in other ***,the predicted damage parameters are combined with the experimental parameters to form the input data set for the DA-PINN models,which predict fretting fatigue *** results demonstrate that DA-PINN outperforms ANN in terms of prediction accuracy and eliminates the need for high computational costs once the damage parameter data set is ***,the choice of loss-function methods in DA-PINN models plays a crucial role in determining its performance.

SNNs have achieved great attention in recent years as they contain neurons more like those in the brain and use spikes to encode and transmit information efficiently among neurons with lower energy consumption. A Retina-LGN-V1 structure-like spiking neuron network (RLVSL-SNN) is proposed in this paper. It is inspired by the structure of mammalian primary visual pathway, and simulates different biological structures of Retina, LGN and V1. Noise reduction circuit and light adaptation circuit are also simulated for enhancing the robustness of its extracted features. RLVSL-SNN is a bio-plausible neuron network as it has firing rates of neurons in each layer that are similar to those of biological experiments. Besides, a full-connected SNN (FC SNN) is implemented following RLVSL-SNN for classification to evaluate the extracted features. The additive spiking timing dependent plasticity (STDP) learning rules and the ANN-to-SNN conversion method are utilized to train RLVSL-SNN and FC SNN, respectively. The experiments on MNIST dataset have verified that RLVSL-SNN is comparable to AlexNet for classification by features from spikes.

With the rapid development of the satellite industry, the information transmission network based on communication satellites has gradually become a major and important part of the future satellite ground integration network. However, the low transmission efficiency of the satellite data relay back mission has become a problem that is currently constraining the construction of the system and needs to be solved urgently. Effectively planning the task of satellite ground networking by reasonably scheduling resources is crucial for the efficient transmission of task data. In this paper, we hope to provide a task execution scheme that maximizes the profit of the networking task for satellite ground network planning considering feeding mode (SGNPFM). To solve the SGNPFM problem, a mixed-integer planning model with the objective of maximizing the gain of the link-building task is constructed, which considers various constraints of the satellite in the feed-switching mode. Based on the problem characteristics, we propose a distance similarity-based genetic optimization algorithm (DSGA), which considers the state characteristics between the tasks and introduces a weighted Euclidean distance method to determine the similarity between the tasks. To obtain more high-quality solutions, different similarity evaluation methods are designed to assist the algorithm in intelligently screening individuals. The DSGAalso uses an adaptive crossover strategy based on similarity mechanism, which guides the algorithm to achieve efficient population search. In addition, a task scheduling algorithm considering the feed-switching mode is designed for decoding the algorithm to generate a highquality scheme. The results of simulation experiments show that the DSGA can effectively solve the SGNPFM problem. Information Bottleneck (IB) based multi-view learning provides an information theoretic principle for seeking shared information contained in heterogeneous data descriptions. However, its great success is generally attributed to estimate the multivariate mutual information which is intractable when the network becomes complicated. Moreover, the representation learning tradeoff, i.e., prediction-compression and sufficiency-consistency tradeoff, makes the IB hard to satisfy both requirements simultaneously. In this paper, we design several variational information bottlenecks to exploit two key characteristics (i.e., sufficiency and consistency) for multi-view representation learning. Specifically, we propose a Multi-View Variational Distillation (MV2D) strategy to provide a scalable, flexible and analytical solution to fitting MI by giving arbitrary input of viewpoints but without explicitly estimating it. Under rigorously theoretical guarantee, our approach enables IB to grasp the intrinsic correlation between observations and semantic labels, producing predictive and compact representations naturally. Also, our information-theoretic constraint can effectively neutralize the sensitivity to heterogeneous data by eliminating both task-irrelevant and view-specific information, preventing both tradeoffs in multiple view cases. To verify our theoretically grounded strategies, we apply our approaches to various benchmarks under three different applications. Extensive experiments to quantitatively and qualitatively demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach against state-of-the-art methods. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this paper, we present a novel investigation into the influence of out-of-phase cyclic normal load and axial stress ratios on fretting fatigue crack initiation and propagation behaviours. Unlike previous studies that primarily focus on constant normal load, our research employs advanced numerical models to provide for the first time a detailed analysis of the effect of out-of-phase cyclic normal load on fretting fatigue crack initiation and propagation behaviours. Due to the non-proportional loading conditions, the frequency of loading, normal load ratio, and cyclic stress ratio play important roles in both crack initiation and propagation phases, which are not yet fully understood. Some experimental results reflect the effect of normal load ratio and cyclic stress ratio on the total fretting fatigue lifetime and wear scar, but there are no direct conclusions. This paper uses the Critical Plane Method and the Theory of Critical Distance to estimate crack initiation behaviour and lifetime. At the same time, the Extended Maximum Tangential Stress criterion from Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics theory is applied to analyse the impact of load stress ratio on crack propagation path and lifetime, saving experimental time through numerical modelling. The enhancement ratios of crack propagation lifetime are less significant than those of crack initiation lifetime with varying axial stress ratios. Moreover, the impact of the stress ratio of both loads shows discrepancies under high and low cycle fatigue regimes.

This study investigates the irradiation hardening mechanical behaviour of EUROFER97, a Reduced Activation Ferritic/Martensitic (RAFM) steel, using a modified Chaboche model within the temperature range of 250–350 °C. Structural materials for nuclear fusion reactors must maintain their performance under neutron irradiation. However, EUROFER97 faces challenges such as irradiation-induced hardening and embrittlement at irradiation temperatures below 350 °C, which lead to reduced ductility and toughness. This research incorporates an irradiation hardening factor into a modified Chaboche constitutive model to accurately simulate EUROFER97's behaviour under irradiation. A unified viscoplastic model is employed for finite element analysis, with variable parameters used to better represent the material's stress-strain evolution during cyclic loading and irradiation-induced hardening. Simulations are conducted using ABAQUS, with a UMAT subroutine developed to simulate fatigue, and a hybrid acceleration strategy is adopted to accelerate the calculation of different stages of Low Cycle Fatigue (LCF). Key findings demonstrate that the modified Chaboche model effectively predicts the irradiation hardening and cyclic softening behaviour of EUROFER97 under various irradiation doses and strain amplitudes. The model's predictions are in good agreement with experimental data, capturing the stress-strain hysteresis loops and irradiation-induced changes in mechanical properties, thereby validating its applicability not only to EUROFER97 but also to other nuclear structural materials, such as F82H ferritic/martensitic steel. The contribution of this study lies in refining the Chaboche model by incorporating irradiation effects, providing a robust tool for predicting the mechanical behaviour of structural materials under irradiation, which is crucial for the safety and design of fusion reactor components.

Learning non-local image diffusion for image denoising

Image diffusion plays a fundamental role for the task of image denoising. Recently proposed trainable nonlinear reaction diffusion (TNRD) model defines a simple but very effective framework for image denoising. However, as the TNRD model is a local model, the diffusion behavior of which is purely controlled by information of local patches, it is prone to create artifacts in the homogenous regions and over-smooth highly textured regions, especially in the case of strong noise levels. Meanwhile, it is widely known that the non-local selfsimilarity (NSS) prior stands as an effective image prior for image denoising, which has been widely exploited in many nonlocal methods. In this work, we are highly motivated to embed the NSS prior into the TNRD model to tackle its weaknesses. In order to preserve the expected property that end-to-end training is available, we exploit the NSS prior by a set of non-local filters, and derive our proposed trainable non-local reaction diffusion (TNLRD) model for image denoising. Together with the local filters and influence functions, the non-local filters are learned by employing loss-specific training. The experimental results show that the trained TNLRD model produces visually plausible recovered images with more textures and less artifacts, compared to its local versions. Moreover, the trained TNLRD model can achieve strongly competitive performance to recent state-of-theart image denoising methods in terms of peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and structural similarity index (SSIM). As we are approaching the exascale era in supercomputing, designing a balanced computer system with powerful computing ability and low energy consumption becomes increasingly important. GPU is a widely used accelerator in most recently applied supercomputers. It adopts massive multithreads to hide long latency and has high energy efficiency. In contrast to its strong computing power, GPUs have few on-chip resources with several MB of fast on-chip memory storage per SM (Streaming Multiprocessors). GPU caches exhibit poor efficiency due to the mismatch of the throughput-oriented execution model and its cache hierarchy design. Since the severe deficiency in on-chip memory, the benefit of high computing capacity of GPUs is pulled down by the poor cache performance dramatically, which limits system performance and energy-efficiency. In this paper, we put forward a locality protected scheme to make full use of the data locality based on the fixed capacity. We present a Locality Protected method based on instruction PC (LPP) to promote GPU performance. Firstly, we use a PC-based collector to collect the reuse information of each cache line. After getting the dynamic reuse information of the cache line, we take an intelligent cache allocation unit (ICAU) which coordinates the reuse information with LRU (Least Recently Used) replacement policy to find out the cache line with the least locality for eviction. The results show that LPP provides an up to 17.8% speedup and an average of 5.5% improvement over the baseline method.

With the development of information technology, the demand for video transmission in wireless networks rapidly increases. The traditional traffic shaping algorithms cannot fully (or adequately) meet the demand for high-quality video transmission in wireless networks. Aiming to reduce this problem, this paper proposes a new multi-service flow, token bucket shaping scheme in an IEEE 802.11e environment. In view of the characteristics of video stream transmission in an IEEE 802.11e wireless network, this scheme adopts a multi-service token bucket technology on the basis of the traffic shaping scheme. After creating a simulation model in NS2, the simulation results show that the scheme can effectively improve the quality of service for video streaming in a wireless environment.

In this paper we investigate the problem of finding a delay- and degree-bounded maximum sum of nodes application level multicast tree. We then proved the problem is NP-hard, and its relationship with the well-studied degree-bounded minimum maximum-delay multicast tree problem. We propose a distributed algorithm - OverStream, which adopts PPAF heuristic for father node to choose optimal child nodes based on multiple network parameters. Simulation results show that our algorithm is better than OMNI, SpreadIt, HMTP, and Zigzag in general. © 2005 IEEE.
