With the rapid development of mobile wireless Internet and high-precision localization devices,location-based services(LBS)bring more convenience for people over recent *** LBS,if the original location data are directly provided,serious privacy problems *** a response to these problems,a large number of location-privacy protection mechanisms(LPPMs)(including formal LPPMs,FLPPMs,etc.)and their evaluation metrics have been proposed to prevent personal location information from being leakage and quantify privacy ***,existing schemes independently consider FLPPMs and evaluation metrics,without synergizing them into a unifying *** this paper,a unified model is proposed to synergize FLPPMs and evaluation *** detail,the probabilistic process calculus(calledδ-calculus)is proposed to characterize obfuscation schemes(which is a LPPM)and integrateα-entropy toδ-calculus to evaluate its privacy ***,we use two calculus moving and probabilistic choice to model nodes’mobility and compute its probability distribution of nodes’locations,and a renaming function to model privacy *** formally defining the attacker’s ability and extending relative entropy,an evaluation algorithm is proposed to quantify the leakage of location ***,a series of examples are designed to demonstrate the efficiency of our proposed approach.

In federated learning (FL), model training is distributed over clients and local models are aggregated by a central server. The performance of uploaded models in such situations can vary widely due to imbalanced data distributions, potential demands on privacy protections, and quality of transmissions. In this paper, we aim to minimize FL training delay over wireless channels, constrained by overall training performance as well as each client's differential privacy (DP) requirement. We solve this problem in the framework of multi-agent multiarmed bandit (MAMAB) to deal with the situation where there are multiple clients confornting different unknown transmission environments, e.g., channel fading and interferences. Specifically, we first transform the long-term constraints on both training performance and each client's DP into a virtual queue based on the Lyapunov drift technique. Then, we convert the MAMAB to a max-min bipartite matching problem at each communication round, by estimating rewards with the upper confidence bound (UCB) approach. More importantly, we propose two efficient solutions to this matching problem, i.e., modified Hungarian algorithm and greedy matching with a better alternative (GMBA), in which the first one can achieve the optimal solution with a high complexity while the second one approaches a better tradeoff by enabling a verified low-complexity with little performance loss. In addition, we develop an upper bound on the expected regret of this MAMAB based FL framework, which shows a linear growth over the logarithm of communication rounds, justifying its theoretical feasibility. Extensive experimental results are conducted to validate the effectiveness of our proposed algorithms, and the impacts of various parameters on the FL performance over wireless edge networks are also discussed. It is evident that increasing the intensive-care-unit (ICU) capacity and giving priority to admitting and treating patients will reduce the number of COVID-19 deaths, but the quantitative assessment of these measures has remained inadequate. We develop a comprehensive, non-Markovian state transition model, which is validated through the accurate prediction of the daily death toll for two epicenters: Wuhan, China and Lombardy, Italy. The model enables prediction of COVID-19 deaths in various scenarios. For example, if appropriate treatment priorities had been used, the death toll in Wuhan and Lombardy would have been reduced by about 10% and 7%, respectively. The strategy depends on the epidemic scale and is more effective in countries with a younger population structure. Analyses of data from China, South Korea, Italy, and Spain suggest that countries with less per capita ICU medical resources should implement this strategy in the early stage of the pandemic to reduce mortalities. We emphasize that the results of this paper should be interpreted purely from a scientific and a quantitative-analysis point of view. No ethical implications are intended and meaningful.

WaveNet has shown its great potential as a direct conversion model in voice conversion. However, due to the model complexity, WaveNet always requires a large amount of training data, which has limited its applications in voice conversion, where training data is scarce. In this paper, we propose a WaveNet adaptation method that effectively reduces the need of adaptation data. We first train a speaker independent WaveNet conversion model with multi-speaker dataset. Adaptation is then applied with limited target speaker's data. Specifically, singular value decomposition (SVD) is applied to dilated convolution layers of WaveNet to reduce the number of parameters, which makes adaptation more effective with limited data. Experiments conducted on CMU-ARCTIC and CSTR-VCTK corpus show that the proposed method outperforms baseline methods in terms of both quality and similarity.

Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) tomography (TomoSAR) has attracted remarkable interest for its ability in achieving three-dimensional reconstruction along the elevation direction from multiple observations. In recent years, compressed sensing (CS) technique has been introduced into TomoSAR considering for its super-resolution ability with limited samples. Whereas, the CS-based methods suffer from several drawbacks, including weak noise resistance, high computational complexity and complex parameter fine-tuning. Among the different CS algorithms, iterative soft-thresholding algorithm (ISTA) is widely used as a robust reconstruction approach, however, the parameters in the ISTA algorithm are manually chosen, which usually requires a time-consuming fine-tuning process to achieve the best performance. Aiming at efficient TomoSAR imaging, a novel sparse unfolding network named analytic learned ISTA (ALISTA) is proposed towards the TomoSAR imaging problem in this paper, and the key parameters of ISTA are learned from training data via deep learning to avoid complex parameter fine-tuning and significantly relieves the training burden. In addition, experiments verify that it is feasible to use traditional CS algorithms as training labels, which provides a tangible supervised training method to achieve better 3D reconstruction performance even in the absence of labeled data in real applications. In our study, we aimed to explore the psychiatric disorders, risk factors, and predictors of self-immolation among individuals admitted to Shahid Motahari Hospital in Tehran from 2019 to 2020. This cross-sectional study examines 64 hospitalized patients who received psychiatric counseling following self-immolation incidents. The rate of self-immolation varies significantly based on specific demographics. It is observed that in our population men had a higher rate of being unmarried (70.96 % vs 15.15 %), lower levels of education (70.96 % vs 63.63 % did not have a university degree), higher level of unemployment (54.83 % vs 30.30 %), younger age average with most men aging 15–24 (29.06 (SD = 9.33)) vs women 35–44 (35.27(SD = 10.27)) and higher prevalence of addiction (67.74 % vs 36.36 %) compared to women. On the other hand, women who attempted self-immolation mainly were married, involved in housekeeping, and tended to exhibit higher rates of depression (63.63 % vs 32.25 %) than men. Furthermore, these self-immolation incidents are often impulsive (64.1 %) and occur shortly (under an hour) after experiencing a stressor (39.1 %). Self-immolation accidents are frequently carried out using gasoline (50 %). Geographically, the majority of self-immolation cases of our study are concentrated in the central region of Iran (76.6 %), followed by the western region (15.6 %) this may be due to the proximity of these regions to our center while patients of other regions were hospitalized in their referral hospitals and were rarely transferred to the capital. To effectively address the issue of self-immolation and reduce its prevalence, it is essential to identify vulnerable populations and explore targeted preventive measures. Based on our findings, future pilot studies could investigate the feasibility of specific interventions, such as crisis hotlines to reduce impulsivity-related acts of self-immolation. In this paper we demonstrate the effectiveness of non-causal context for mitigating the effects of reverberation in deep-learning-based automatic speech recognition (ASR) systems. First, the value of non-causal context using a non-causal FIR filter is shown by comparing the contributions of previous vs. future information. Second, MLP- and LSTM-based dereverberation networks were trained to confirm the effects of causal and non-causal context when used in ASR systems trained with clean speech. The non-causal deep-learning-based dereverberation provides a 45% relative reduction in word error rate (WER) compared to the popular weighted prediction error (WPE) method in experiments with clean training in the REVERB challenge. Finally, an expanded multicondition training procedure used in combination with a semi-enhanced test utterance generation based on combinations of reverberated and dereverberated signals is proposed to reduce any artifacts or distortion that may be introduced by the non-causal dereverberation methods. The combination of both approaches provided average relative reductions in WER equal to 10.9% and 6.0% when compared to the baseline system obtained with the most recent REVERB challenge recipe without and with WPE, respectively. Filtering of higher-dimensional entanglement networks using information volumes

We introduce a novel geometric approach to characterize entanglement relations in large quantum systems. Our approach is inspired by Schumacher’s singlet state triangle inequality, which used an entropic-based distance to capture the strange properties of entanglement using geometric-based inequalities. Schumacher uses classical entropy and can only describe the geometry of bipartite states. We extend his approach by using von Neumann entropy to create an entanglement monotone that can be generalized for higher dimensional systems. We achieve this by utilizing recent definitions for entropic areas, volumes, and higher dimensional volumes for multipartite quantum systems. This enables us to differentiate systems with high quantum correlation from systems with low quantum correlation and differentiate between different types of multi-partite entanglement. It also enable us to describe some of the strange properties of quantum entanglement using simple geometrical inequalities. Our geometrization of entanglement provides new insight into quantum entanglement. Perhaps by constructing well motivated geometrical structures (e.g. relations among areas, volumes ...), a set of trivial geometrical inequalities can reveal some of the complex properties of higher-dimensional entanglement in multi-partite systems. This paper revisits the stabilization problem of switched linear systems with time-varying delay via state dependent switching strategies. In contrast to the existing works, the commonly adopted stable convex combination assumption is relaxed in this paper. For switched systems satisfying the relaxed assumption, we design a state dependent switching strategy, under which the considered system is asymptotically stable at the origin in the presence of time-varying delay. An optimization problem is formulated to estimate the upper bound of tolerable time delay. Numerical examples are presented to show that our method is applicable to a larger class of switched systems and leads to greater delay bound.

Cloud-assisted nonlinear model predictive control for finite-duration tasks

Cloud computing creates new possibilities for control applications by offering powerful computation and storage capabilities. In this paper, we propose a novel cloud-assisted model predictive control (MPC) framework in which we systematically fuse a cloud MPC that uses a high-fidelity nonlinear model but is subject to communication delays with a local MPC that exploits simplified dynamics (due to limited computation) but has timely feedback. Unlike traditional cloud-based control that treats the cloud as powerful, remote, and sole controller in a networked-system control setting, the proposed framework aims at seamlessly integrating the two controllers for enhanced performance. In particular, we formalize the fusion problem for finite-duration tasks by explicitly considering model mismatches and errors due to request-response communication delays. We analyze stability-like properties of the proposed cloud-assisted MPC framework and establish approaches to robustly handling constraints within this framework in spite of plant-model mismatch and disturbances. A fusion scheme is then developed to enhance control performance while satisfying stability-like conditions, the efficacy of which is demonstrated with multiple simulation examples, including an automotive control example to show its industrial application potentials.
