This paper seeks the optimization of soot-blowing operations for heat transfer surfaces in coal- fired power plant boiler. A preventive soot blowing strategy based on state of health prediction for heat transfer surface was proposed. The average state of health of heat transfer surface was forecasted as the threshold to draft preventive soot blowing strategy. According to the theory of renewal process, an optimization model with the system prediction interval and the threshold of preventive soot blowing operation as the optimization variables and minimize average energy losses as the target function was established. By using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), the optimal preventive cycle and soot-blowing threshold were obtained, and the long-run average cost rate was the lowest. The model is validated with experiment data of a 300MW coal-fired power plant boiler and the parameters of prediction model are obtained. The results can verify the feasibility of proposed strategy. It can be used as the guide for the optimization of soot blowing in coal-fired power plant to improve the energy conservation level.

Driven by the coexisted heterogeneous communication protocols and diverse quality of service (QoS) requirements of industrial applications, time-sensitive networking (TSN) has been proposed as a promising and unified standard to provide deterministic transmission. However, the traffic scheduling of the TSN network should be orchestrated in a coordinated manner, which is challenging to respond to dynamic applications rapidly. For this, network function virtualization (NFV) has been introduced to eliminate the tight coupling between functions and devices, thus enabling a more flexible network resource allocation. However, NFV cannot be simply applied in a TSN network due to the inherent complex characteristics of TSN. To address this issue, we develop SvTI, a service function chain (SFC) driven queue injection scheme in the NFV-enabled TSN network. The basic idea of SvTI is to jointly model virtual network functions (VNFs) embedding and the TSN multi-queue characteristic by constructing an ordered augmented topology according to the SFC. Thus, the VNF embedding and TSN queue injection problem can be transformed into a shortest path routing problem. Besides, considering the QoS requirements of applications, a TSN queue-based topology division mechanism is proposed to simplify the augmented topology further and improve the algorithm efficiency. Simulation results show that our SvTI obtains a smaller graph size than other works and is more scalable.

Federated learning-based model marketplaces have the potential to securely leverage healthcare data for efficient healthcare transactions. However, the willingness to participate in this marketplace is severely hindered by self-interested model sellers, who maximize their personal gains via distorting the quality of their models. To this end, we propose a rePutation-driven hierArchical inCentive mEchanism, called PACE, which combines contract cooperation and game pricing to motivate model sellers to be honest, thereby improving the sustainability of the model marketplace via two-layer cooperation. Specifically, at the training layer, we design a reward payment rule based on multidimensional contracts, while at the trading layer, we use a competitive market pricing game to develop the accuracy pricing rule. In particular, the above rules cleverly combine the fine-grained model sellers' reputations with the willingness of healthcare devices to indirectly affect the model sellers' utilities. Theoretically, we prove that PACE can effectively incentivize model sellers to truthfully report model quality while satisfying both individual rationality and incentive compatibility with a fairness guarantee. Experimental results conducted on four real-world datasets show that our PACE improves the global performance by up to 12.85% and reduces the global loss by at least 19.23% compared with the state-of-the-art baselines. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

The paper presents a feature-rich approach to the automatic recognition and categorization of named entities (persons, organizations, locations, and miscellaneous) in news text for Bulgarian. We combine well-established features used for other languages with language-specific lexical, syntactic and morphological information. In particular, we make use of the rich tagset annotation of the BulTreeBank (680 morpho-syntactic tags), from which we derive suitable task-specific tagsets (local and nonlocal). We further add domain-specific gazetteers and additional unlabeled data, achieving F1=89.4%, which is comparable to the state-of-the-art results for *** Codes 68T50 Copyright © 2021, The Authors. Deep reinforcement learning for combinatorial optimization: Covering salesman problems

This paper introduces a new deep learning approach to approximately solve the Covering Salesman Problem (CSP). In this approach, given the city locations of a CSP as input, a deep neural network model is designed to directly output the solution. It is trained using the deep reinforcement learning without supervision. Specifically, in the model, we apply the Multi-head Attention to capture the structural patterns, and design a dynamic embedding to handle the dynamic patterns of the problem. Once the model is trained, it can generalize to various types of CSP tasks (different sizes and topologies) with no need of re-training. Through controlled experiments, the proposed approach shows desirable time complexity: it runs more than 20 times faster than the traditional heuristic solvers with a tiny gap of optimality. Moreover, it significantly outperforms the current state-of-the-art deep learning approaches for combinatorial optimization in the aspect of both training and inference. In comparison with traditional solvers, this approach is highly desirable for most of the challenging tasks in practice that are usually large-scale and require quick decisions. Web service compositions must provide services to hundreds even thousands of users concurrently. These applications must be load tested to ensure that they can function properly under high load. We propose in this paper a solution for load testing of WS-BPEL compositions. It is based on Timed Automata as model for specifying requirements to test under various load conditions, a distributed testing architecture, an algorithm for online load test generation and execution, and finally an automated log analysis technique. We also illustrate our approach by means of a case study.

—Cyber Movement Organization (CMO) is a special kind of social movement organization on the Web. In this paper, we propose a model to simulate the mobilizing process of CMO, which consists of the individual unit, organization unit, and the mobilizing mechanisms. The mobilizing mechanisms has three sub-mechanisms: the participation mechanism, the choice mechanism, and the inviting mechanism. A dataset of more than two million “human flesh search” related microblogs is used to validate the model. Empirical results show that our model can capture the key features of the real-world mobilizing process.

In this paper, a system for speech-driven animation of generic 3D head models is presented. The system is based on the inversion of a joint Audio-Visual Hidden Markov Model to estimate the visual information from speech data. Estimated visual speech features are used to animate a simple face model. The animation of a more complex head model is then obtained by automatically mapping the deformation of the simple model to it. The proposed algorithm allows the animation of 3D head models of arbitrary complexity through a simple setup procedure. The resulting animation is evaluated in terms of intelligibility of visual speech through subjective tests, showing a promising performance.

This paper presents a novel real-time super-resolution (SR) method using directionally adaptive image interpolation and image restoration. The proposed interpolation method estimates the edge orientation using steerable filters and performs edge refinement along the estimated edge orientation. Bi-linear and bi-cubic interpolation filters are then selectively used according to the estimated edge orientation for reducing jagging artifacts in slanting edge regions. The proposed restoration method can effectively remove image degradation caused by interpolation using the directionally adaptive truncated constrained least-squares (TCLS) filter. The proposed method provides high-quality magnified images which are similar to or better than the result of advanced interpolation or SR methods without high computational load. Experimental results indicate that the proposed system gives higher peak-to-peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and structural similarity (SSIM) values than the state-of-the-art image interpolation methods.

We present an antialiasing method using combined wavelet-Fourier transform and spatially adaptive shrinkage of the transform coefficients. Traditional antialiasing methods employ a simple low-pass filter onto the entire image, so the resulting image loses not only aliasing artifacts but also high-frequency components such as edges and ridges. The proposed algorithm analyzes the property of the LL subband of the discrete wavelet transform (DWT), and reduces aliasing artifacts using patch-adaptive shrinkage of the DWT coefficients. More specifically, an antialiased LL subband is obtained using adaptive patch-based aliasing reduction. To detect an aliased region, we subtract the discrete Fourier transform (DFT) coefficients of the LL subband from the DFT coefficients of antialiased LL subband. The detected aliasing artifacts in the LH, HL, and HH subbands are reduced by patch-wise adaptive shrinkage of the transform coefficients. The resulting antialiased image is obtained using the inverse DWT. The aliasing artifacts can be efficiently reduced by adaptively shrinking wavelet transform coefficients for preserving high-frequency image details. The proposed antialiasing algorithm is suitable for removing aliasing artifacts which frequently occur in imaging sensors with limited resolution.
