Network emulation environment is great importance to the research of network protocols, applications and security mechanism. Large-scale network topology generation is one of key technologies to construct network emulation environment. In this paper, a new large-scale network topology generation framework called LSNTGF is proposed, which divides the network topology into three hierarchies: AS, router and terminal node. It contains the assignment mechanism to bandwidth of each link and IP address of each node. The framework is evaluate by implementation, and the result illustrate it is efficient to network emulation environment for network protocols and security research. © 2010 IEEE.

A large collection of texts may be reached through the Internet and this provides a powerful platform from which common-sense knowledge may be gathered. This paper presents a system that contains a core knowledge base structured around WordNet, a lexical database, capable of extracting contextual information from a given input text. Such context information is then used to retrieve other texts from the Internet that relate to that context. When processed by the system, these new texts bring more information that represents an enhanced domain context for the initial text. This is an incremental method for text processing that acquires domain knowledge from other texts. The paper describes the system architecture, its core knowledge base and inference engine, and the acquisition of new knowledge from corpora. © 1997, Cambridge University Press. All rights reserved.

The co-allocation architecture was developed in order to enable parallel downloads of datasets from multiple servers. Several co-allocation strategies have been coupled and used to exploit rate differences among various client-server links and to address dynamic rate fluctuations by dividing files into multiple blocks of equal sizes. However, a major obstacle, the idle time of faster servers having to wait for the slowest server to deliver the final block, makes it important to reduce differences in finish time among replica servers. In this paper, we propose a dynamic co-allocation scheme, namely Recursive-Adjustment Co-Allocation scheme, to improve the performance of data transfer in Data Grids. Our approach reduces the idle time spent waiting for the slowest server and decreases data transfer completion time. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.

In this paper, we investigate the recent popular computing technique called Grid Computing, and use video conversion and 3D rendering applications to demonstrate this technology's effectiveness and high performance. We also report on developing a resource broker called Phantom that runs on our grid computing testbed and whose main function is querying nodes in grid computing environments and showing their system information to aid in selecting the best nodes for job assignments to have the jobs executed in the least amount of time. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.

The Data Grid enables the sharing, selection, and connection of a wide variety of geographically distributed computational and storage resources for solving large-scale data intensive scientific applications. Such technology efficiently manage and transfer terabytes or even petabytes of data for data-intensive, high-performance computing applications in wide-area, distributed computing environments. Replica selection process allows an application to choose a replica from replica catalog, based on its performance and data access features. In this paper, we build a Grid environment based on three existing PC Cluster environments and perform performance analysis of data transfers using GridFTP protocol over these systems. In addition, based on experimental results, it is proposed a cost model to pick the best replica, in real and dynamic network situations. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.

This paper presents a structure of TLB (translation lookaside buffer) for low power consumption but high performance. The proposed TLB is constructed as a combination of one block buffer and two-way banked TLBs. The processor can access the block buffer or one of two banked TLBs selectively. This feature is quite different from that used in the traditional block buffering technique. Simulation results show its effectiveness in terms of power consumption and energy∗delay product. The proposed TLB can reduce power consumptions by about 40%, 10%, 23%, and 23%, compared with a FA (fully associative)-TLB, a micro-TLB, a victim-TLB, and a banked-TLB respectively. Also the proposed TLB can reduce Energy∗Delay products by about 38%, 28%, 21%, and 21%, compared with a FA-TLB, a micro-TLB, a victim-TLB, and a banked-TLB respectively. Therefore the proposed TLB can achieve low power consumption and high performance with a simple architecture. © 2002 IEEE.

In order to identify and schedule jobs that are suitable for determined resources, an execution time estimation model is required. In this paper, it is described a Chronological history-based execution time estimation model to predict current execution time, according to the previous execution results. We built a heterogeneous computational Grid environment using Globus Toolkit, and our research is focused in Grid computing environments and to execute parallel jobs on multiple resources by measuring its accuracy. The experimental results shown that our model can accurately predict the execution time of embarrassingly parallel applications. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.

The computing power provided by high performance low-cost PC-based Cluster and Grid platforms are attractive, and they are equal or superior to supercomputers and mainframes widely available. In this research paper, we present the design rationale and implementation of Visuel, a toolkit for performance measurement and analysis of MPI parallel programs and real time resources monitoring in cluster and grid computing environments. The proposed toolkit is web-based interface to show performance activities of all computing nodes involved in the execution of a MPI parallel program, such as CPU and memory usage levels of each computing node, and monitors all computing nodes of a computing platform by displaying real time performance data. In addition, this toolkit is able to display comparative performance data charts of multiple executions of MPI parallel application under investigation, which facilitates the "what-if" analysis. The usage of this toolkit shows that it outperforms in easing the process of investigation of parallel applications. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 2005.

A novel comprehensive real-time on-line calculation model of coal's Low Heating Value(LHV) in coal-fired boiler is presented in this ***,the training operational data is partitioned into several subsets by means of C-Means cluster ***,the Least Squares Support Vector Machine(LS-SVM) method is used to training the sub-models in each ***,the sub-models are combined into one model based on Partial Least Squares algorithm(PLS).The models' effectiveness is illustrated by the validation of online simulation in which the real operation data is *** result shows that it is potential to considerably fulfill not only the accuracy of online monitoring of LHV of the coal into the boiler,but also the real-time computations that are supplied by using indirect heat balance approach.

Air pre-heater of coal-fired power plant boiler is an important piece of engineering equipment,which is designed to heat air before combustion in furnace with the primary objective of increasing the thermal efficiency of the *** paper presents a mathematical model of heat exchange,which allows for the on-line monitoring of ash fouling in air *** model is built using dynamic heat balance method,in which the cleanliness factor is used to characterize the fouling *** ash fouling model is validated by using the actual data of a 300 MW power plant *** validation results show the effectiveness of the proposed *** can be used for the soot blowing optimization in most coal-fired power plant boiler with air preheaters,not requiring additional special instruments and complex computing systems.
