Networked systems have adapted Radio Frequency identification technology (RFID) to automate their business process. The Networked RFID Systems (NRS) has some unique characteristics which raise new privacy and security concerns for organizations and their NRS systems. The businesses are always having new realization of business needs using NRS. One of the most recent business realization of NRS implementation on large scale distributed systems (such as Internet of Things (IoT), supply chain) is to ensure visibility and traceability of the object throughout the chain. However, this requires assurance of security and privacy to ensure lawful business operation. In this paper, we are proposing a secure tracker protocol that will ensure not only visibility and traceability of the object but also genuineness of the object and its travel path on-site. The proposed protocol is using Physically Unclonable Function (PUF), Diffie-Hellman algorithm and simple cryptographic primitives to protect privacy of the partners, injection of fake objects, non-repudiation, and unclonability. The tag only performs a simple mathematical computation (such as combination, PUF and division) that makes the proposed protocol suitable to passive tags. To verify our security claims, we performed experiment on Security Protocol Description Language (SPDL) model of the proposed protocol using automated claim verification tool Scyther. Our experiment not only verified our claims but also helped us to eliminate possible attacks identified by Scyther.

Insider threat has become a serious information security issues within organizations. In this paper, we analyze the problem of insider threats with emphases on the Cloud computing platform. Security is one of the major anxieties when planning to adopt the Cloud. This paper will contribute towards the conception of mitigation strategies that can be relied on to solve the malicious insider threats. While Cloud computing relieves organizations from the burden of the data management and storage costs, security in general and the malicious insider threats in particular is the main concern in cloud environments. We will analyses the existing mitigation strategies to reduce malicious insiders threats in Cloud computing.

Trust management has been identified as vital component for establishing and maintaining successful relational exchanges between e-commerce trading partners in cloud environment. In this highly competitive and distributed service environment, the assurances are insufficient for the consumers to identify the dependable and trustworthy Cloud providers. Due to these limitations, potential consumers are not sure whether they can trust the Cloud providers in offering dependable services. In this paper, we propose a multi-faceted trust management system architecture for cloud computing marketplaces, to support customers in identifying trustworthy cloud providers. This paper presents the important threats to a trust system and proposed a method for tackling these threats. It described the desired feature of a trust management system. It security components to determine the trustworthiness of e- commerce participants to helps online customers to decide whether or not to proceed with a transaction. Based on this framework, we proposed an approach for filtering out malicious feedbacks and a trust metric to evaluate the trustworthiness of service provider. Results of various simulation experiments show that the proposed multi-attribute trust management system can be highly effective in identifying risky transaction in electronic market places.

In service-oriented computing applications, trust management systems are emerging as a promising technology to improve the e-commerce consumers and provider's relationship. Both consumers and providers need to evaluate the trust levels of potential partners before engaging in interactions. The accuracy of trust evaluation greatly affects the success rate of the interaction. This paper addresses the threats and challenges that can compromise the reliability of the current trust management system. This paper studies and examines the importance of the trust factors of the trust management framework, specifically in dealing with malicious feedback ratings from e-commerce users. To improve the reliability of the trust management systems, an approach that addresses feedback-related vulnerabilities is paramount. A multilevel trust management system computes trust by combining different types of information. Using this combination, we introduce a multilevel framework for a new interactive trust management to improve the correctness in estimate of trust information.

With the introduction of digital library services, the quality of service (QoS) has become paramount importance for evaluating the performance of the digital library service provisioning. Various models and frameworks have been proposed to evaluate digital library QoS. However, the prevalent research concentration in QoS for digital library is on the dimensions of the perspective of users’ perception. In this paper, we address the same research problem from a different dimension which is from the perspective of the digital service providers. To this end, we propose a new model suitable for evaluating the performance of digital library services. We argue that the level of QoS provided by the digital service providers have direct impact on the perception and satisfaction of the digital service end-users.

Digital libraries offer a massive set of digital services to geographically distributed library patrons. The digital services are commonly sourced from third-party service providers for charge. As externally sourced digital services are becoming prevalence, issues regarding their quality assessment are gaining critical importance. Unfortunately, sourcing digital services from external providers has brought with it stringent quality of service (QoS) demand from the library service users. Currently, there is no way for ensuring QoS between the digital service providers and the library management. In this paper, we propose service level agreements (SLAs) to capture the QoS requirements of the digital service users and the commitments, as well as adherence of the digital service providers.

Despite significant advancements in wireless sensor networks (WSNs), energy conservation remains one of the most important research challenges. Proper organization of nodes (clustering) is one of the major techniques to expand the lifespan of the whole network through aggregating data at the cluster head. The cluster head is the backbone of the entire cluster. That means if a cluster head fails to accomplish its function, the received and collected data by cluster head can be lost. Moreover, the energy consumption following direct communications from sources to base stations will be increased. In this paper, we propose a type-2 fuzzy based self-configurable cluster head selection (SCCH) approach to not only consider the selection criterion of the cluster head but also present the cluster backup approach. Thus, in case of cluster failure, the system still works in an efficient way. The novelty of this protocol is the ability of handling communication uncertainty, which is an inherent operational aspect of sensor networks. The experiment results indicate SCCH performs better than other recently developed methods. © 2013 IEEE.

The productisation of crime toolkits is happening at an ever-increasing rate. Previous attacks that required in-depth knowledge of computer systems can now be purchased online. Large scale attacks previously requiring months to set-up a botnet can now be scheduled for a small fee. Criminals are leveraging this opportunity of commercialization, by compromising web applications and user's browser, to gain advantages such as using the computer's resources for launching further attacks, or stealing data such as identifying *** toolkits are being developed to attack an increasing number of applications and can now be deployed by attackers with little technical knowledge. This paper surveys the current trends in crime toolkits, with a case study on the Zeus botnet. We profile the types of exploits that malicious writers prefer, with a view to predicting future attack trends. We find that the scope for damage is increasing, particularly as specialisation and scale increase in cybercrime.
