A logistic regression model for Semantic Web service matchmaking

Semantic Web service matchmaking,as one of the most challenging problems in Semantic Web services (SWS),aims to filter and rank a set of services with respect to a service query by using a certain matching *** this paper,we propose a logistic regression based method to aggregate several matching strategies instead of a fixed integration (e.g.,the weighted sum) for SWS *** logistic regression model is trained on training data derived from binary relevance assessments of existing test collections,and then used to predict the probability of relevance between a new pair of query and service according to their matching values obtained from various matching *** are then ranked according to the probabilities of relevance with respect to each *** method is evaluated on two main test collections,SAWSDL-TC2 and Jena Geography Dataset(JGD).Experimental results show that the logistic regression model can effectively predict the relevance between a query and a service,and hence can improve the effectiveness of service matchmaking.

As the electronic technology develops, the integration levels of CPUs and memories keep growing, and the speeds of communication devices are improved. The high-performance computing (HPC) systems consist of processing nodes and communication network, and their sizes are advanced by the development of electronic technology. Then the scalability of a large-scale parallel computing system, i.e. whether the computing performance is increased with the system size, becomes a major goal pursued by designers of parallel algorithms and high-performance parallel machines. parallel speedup is a popular way to measure the scalability. This paper proposes the definition of HPC system scalability based on speedup first, and then analyzes the influence of function G(P), which describes how the workload changes with processor number, on the system scalability. Through case studies, we analyze some typical programs based on our scalability theorems and the results show that our analysis approach is correct. © 2012 Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg.

In recent years, many C code static analyzers, with different abilities of bug detection, have appeared and been applied in various domains. There are so many choices that it becomes hard for programmers to know in detail the strengths as well as limitations of all these analyzers and to find the most suitable ones for their code. In this paper, we propose a benchmark for C code static analyzers, named UCBench, to provide quantitative and qualitative measurements for evaluating analyzers. Being different from other benchmarks, UCBench concentrates more on users' requirements rather than the improvements of bug detecting technique itself. The major components of UCBench include test case database, evaluation metrics and harness. We classify test cases into several groups according to their attributes and design various user-centric evaluation metrics. Besides, we develop some harness to automate the evaluation process. Finally, we demonstrate our benchmark suite over four C code static analyzers: Flawfinder, Cppcheck, Uno and Splint. © 2012 IEEE.

Performance prediction for the high performance computer system is of great importance for designing, implementing, and optimizing system. As a widely used technique for predicting performance, simulation method attracts more and more attention from the research community. Based on analyzing the problems in the current performance simulation techniques, we present a key idea of the performance simulator for SMP system based on event-driven. We propose the framework of SMP-SIM and implement it based on MPICH2. The simulation results show that, our simulation technique has the advantages of high accuracy and simulation performance. © 2012 IEEE.

Nowadays, with the growth of the performance, the reliability problem of supercomputers becomes more and more serious. In order to complete an application with small fault recovery overhead, Checkpoint/Restart(C/R) methods are widely used. So far, the mainstream C/R methods are either based on Fail-Stop fault model or making the system(or program) do error detection before storing checkpoints, so they can ensure the correctness of every checkpoint. However, the faults occurring in the systems in real world are more accordant with the Byzantine fault model, and in order to pursue the higher practical performance, neither the system nor the program implements any fault detection mechanism. Consequently, there may be errors in the checkpoints. This paper studies the checkpoint selection problem that which checkpoint should be selected as the object of rolling back after system occurring failure, based on Byzantine fault model. We design a framework of checkpoint selection, and then, based on it, propose three checkpoint selection strategies: conservative strategy, aggressive strategy and statistical strategy. The simulation results show that: the conservative strategy shows its superiority when the error latent period is long, while the aggressive strategy behaves oppositely, the statistical strategy has a stable efficiency, only 50% more overhead compared to the ideal checkpoint selection when the checkpoint period is the half of mean time between faults. © 2012 IEEE.

Invalid pointer dereferences, such as null pointer dereferences, dangling pointer dereferences and double frees, are a prevalent source of software bugs in CPS software, due to flexible dereferencing pointers along various pointer fields. Existing tools have high overhead or are incomplete, thereby limiting their efficiency in checking the kind of CPS software with shared and mutable memory. In this paper, we present a novel extended pointer structure for detecting all invalid pointer dereferences in this kind of CPS software. We propose an invalid pointer dereferences detection algorithm based on the uniform transformation of abstract heap states. Experimental evaluation about a set of large C benchmark programs shows that the proposed approach is sufficiently efficient in detecting invalid pointer dereferences of CPS software with shared and mutable memory. © 2012 IEEE.

OONS is a new Object Oriented Neural Simulator. The goal creating it is making the construction of neural model as quickly and easily as possible for the users, and can run in shorter time than other simulators. OONS is written in C++ programming language and using crank-Nicholson implicit integral method to allow for efficient simulations. Because of multi-level package, it is suitable both for beginners and for experts, especially the simulating algorithm researchers. We test OONS by Rallpacks benchmark set, the results show that OONS is higher efficient and more precision. © (2012) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Full precise pointer analysis has been a challenging problem, especially when dealing with dynamically-allocated memory. Separation logic can describe pointer alias formally, but cannot describe the quantitative reachability between pointers. In this paper, we present a symbolic framework for analyzing the reachability between pointers in list-manipulating programs. The precise points-to relations of pointers in lists are described by formulae of quantitative separation logic (QSL), and the analysis framework is based on the operational and rearrangement rules about the assignments of pointers. The fixpoint calculus and the counter symbolic abstraction are used to find loop invariants. We can get precise relations between pointers at each point of list-manipulating programs. In the end, several initial examples about list-manipulating programs are given to show that the approach can get precise pointer analysis for list-manipulating programs. © 2012 IEEE.

Buffer overflow is one of the most dangerous and common vulnerabilities in CPS software. Despite static and dynamic analysis, manual analysis is still heavily used which is useful but costly. Human computation harness humans' time and energy in a way of playing games to solve computational problems. In this paper we propose a human computation method to detect buffer overflows that does not ask a person whether there is a potential vulnerability, but rather a random person's idea. We implement this method as a game called Bodhi in which each player is shown a piece of code snippet and asked to choose whether their partner would think there is a buffer overflow vulnerability at a given position in the code. The purpose of the game is to make use of the rich distributed human resource to increase effectiveness of manual detection for buffer overflows. The game has been proven to be efficient and enjoyable in practice. © 2012 IEEE.

Wireless sensor networks (WSN) is a critical technology for information gathering covering many areas, including health-care, transportation, air traffic control and environment monitoring. Despite wide use, the fast increasing data emanating from WSN is not fully utilized due to the limitation for structure of WSN itself. Along with the further development of WSN, the data form which is not be efficiently managed and applied to supply information services for users. As the emerging IT technology, cloud computing supplies powerful utilization ability for IT resources, which makes many traditional applications migrate to cloud computing. In this paper, we propose a framework integrating cloud computing paradigm and WSN, which fully uses data process ability and service model for cloud computing. In the framework, data form WSN are efficiently utilized and managed, depending on which, information services for WSN are well provided to users. © 2012 IEEE.
