Mining of repeated patterns from HTML documents is the key step towards Web-based data mining and knowledge extraction. Many web crawling applications need efficient repeated patterns mining techniques to generate their wrapper automatically. Existing approaches such as tree matching and string matching can detect repeated patterns with high precision, but their performance is still a challenge for practical web crawling applications. In this paper, we propose an efficient approach for mining repeated patterns based on indent shape of HTML document. Indent shape is a novel and simple model of HTML document, in which tandem repeated waves have strong association with the repeated patterns to be detected. By scanning an indent shape with a horizontal indent-line from bottom to top, the tandem repeated waves are identified by filtering the wave segments with low self-similarities. After that the boundary of HTML code corresponding to repeated patterns can be identified, which could be transformed to regular expressions formal-defined easily. Extensive experiments on two practical data sets retrieved from Internet show that our approach achieves high efficiency significantly, and its precision performance is also generally better than the existing approaches.

When a large-scale distributed interactive simulation system is running on WAN, the sites usually disperse over a wide area in geography, which results in the simulation clock of each site is hardly to be accurately synchronized with that of other sites. The asynchronous clocks and large transmission latency on WAN bring on a problem for the large-scale simulations to preserve the real-time causal order delivery of received events at each site. In this article, we analyze the indirect way to compare the values of asynchronous simulation clocks at first, and then propose a novel scheme which can select the reconstructible causal control information for each message so as to ensure the causal ordering of events in real time. Experiments demonstrate that the scheme can weaken the effect of network latency, reduce the overhead of the transmission amount of control information and improve the causal order consistency in asynchronous distributed simulations.

How to preserve causal and totally ordered event delivery is an important issue in real-time serverless DVE(distributed Virtual Environment). However, most of the related works are designed to maintain causal order merely or time stamped order with intensive computation and bandwidth overhead. In this paper, we proposed a novel distributed algorithm to maintain the before-and-after relationship between events, both causal and concurrent, of DVE at each individual node. Several simulation experiments are carried out to evaluate the performance of our algorithm and the results demonstrate that the algorithm is effective in preserving causal and totally ordered event delivery and more efficient than the previous algorithms.

Strongly promoted by the leading industrial companies, cloud computing becomes increasingly popular in re-cent years. The growth rate of cloud computing surpasses even the most optimistic predictions. A cloud application is a large-scale distributed system that consist a lot of distributed cloud nodes. How to make optimal deployment of cloud applications is a challenging research problem. When deploying a cloud application to the cloud environment, cloud node ranking is one of the most important approaches for selecting optimal cloud nodes for the cloud application. Traditional ranking methods usually rank the cloud nodes based on their QoS values, without considering the communication performance between cloud nodes. However, such kind of node relationship is very important for the communication-intensive cloud applications (e.g., Message Passing Interface (MPI) programs), which have a lot of communications between the selected cloud nodes. In this paper, we propose a novel clustering-based method for selecting optimal cloud nodes for deploying communication-intensive applications to the cloud environment. Our method not only takes into account the cloud node qualities, but also the communication performance between different nodes. We deploy several well-known MPI programs on a real-world cloud and compare our method with other methods. The experimental results show the effectiveness of our cluster-based method.

Due to the large message transmission latency in distributed Virtual Environments(DVEs) on Wide Area Net-work(WAN), the effectiveness of causality consistency control of message ordering is determined by not only causal order of messages but also the real-timeness. If merely causal order is considered, the real-time property of DVEs may not be ensured because of the unlimited waiting time for the delayed messages. While if only real-timeness is emphasized, there may be too many delayed messages, which have to be discarded, to maintain the quality of causal message ordering. Therefore, a trade-off between the quality of causal order delivery and real-timeness is necessary for DVEs. In this article, a novel causality based message ordering approach is presented. In general, this new approach dynamically balances the demands of causal order delivery and real-timeness. Experiment results demonstrate the approach can enhance the quality of causality, while simultaneously keep the real-time property of DVEs.

Multi-agent reinforcement learning system is used to solve the problem that agents achieve specific goals in the interaction with the environment through learning policies. Almost all existing multi-agent reinforcement learning methods assume that the observation of the agents is accurate during the training process. It does not take into account that the observation may be wrong due to the complexity of the actual environment or the existence of dishonest agents, which will make the agent training difficult to succeed. In this paper, considering the limitations of the traditional multi-agent algorithm framework in noisy environments, we propose a multi-agent fault-tolerant reinforcement learning (MAFTRL) algorithm. Our main idea is to establish the agent's own error detection mechanism and design the information communication medium between agents. The error detection mechanism is based on the autoencoder, which calculates the credibility of each agent's observation and effectively reduces the environmental noise. The communication medium based on the attention mechanism can significantly improve the ability of agents to extract effective information. Experimental results show that our approach accurately detects the error observation of the agent, which has good performance and strong robustness in both the traditional reliable environment and the noisy environment. Moreover, MAFTRL significantly outperforms the traditional methods in the noisy environment.

Big data workflows are widely used in IoT, recommended systems, and real-time vision applications, and they continue to grow in complexity. These hybrid workflows consist of both resource-intensive batch jobs and latency-sensitive stream jobs. Examples include the data analytics workflow, which incorporates batch data transformations and low-latency querying, and the machine learning workflow, which processes stream data feature extraction before performing batch training and low-latency inference. However, existing research on workflow scheduling primarily focuses on either stream or batch workflows, neglecting the efficient scheduling of hybrid workflows that respect their diverse resource requirements and the costly data transfers between *** this article, we propose a hybrid workflow model that defines the optimal placement of hybrid workflows (OHWP) as a bi-objective optimization problem. Our proposed model takes into account parameters related to inter-communication between stream and batch jobs, as well as the heterogeneous resources in JointCloud environment. Additionally, we present OHWP-PS (OHWP on a Pruned Space), a scheduling algorithm for hybrid workflows that minimizes both cost and latency by improving the initial population and dynamically updating the search space. The results demonstrate that the proposed OHWP-PS algorithm is effective and competitive across all experiments.

Nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) is a powerful technique for dimensionality reduction. Conventional NMF algorithms usually keep the matrices W and H nonnegative while iterating. However, to get the NMF of a matrix, it's unnecessary to force the temporary solutions in iterations nonnegative. In this paper, we propose a two-staged approach for NMF. At the relaxation stage, the nonnegative constraint of temporary solutions is relaxed and a real valued matrix factorization is generated. At the constraint stage, the real valued matrix factorization is transformed to a nonnegative matrix factorization by an invertible linear transformation. Based on this approach, we study on exact nonnegative matrix factorization when rank=2. We proved that, given two real valued matrices of rank=2, there exists an invertible linear transformation which can transform the real valued matrices to nonnegative matrices with their product stable. We propose an algorithm to find out the transformation. When rank is higher than 2, this kind of transformation may not exist. In the experiments, it's showed that this approach can reach a nonnegative matrix factorization with lower reconstruction error than conventional methods, and the technique for rank=2 exact NMF works well.

Quantization is an effective method for compressing Deep Neural Networks. Now, it is considered to accelerate the traditional HPC applications. In this article, we present a quantization method (q8gemm) using integer 8-bits(INT8) for matrix multiplication, which is implemented by block techniques to overcome the overflow problem. We choose different scales for one matrix’s each row and those for the other matrix’s each column to keep the numbers in range. With the intel advanced matrix extension cblas_gemm_s8u8s32, our q8gemm can accelerate panel-matrix multiplication in LU factorization. Furthermore, we propose a new mixed-precision solver (q8gesv 1 ) for the linear equations. Using q8gemm in INT8, q8gesv modifies LU factorization in FP32 and then utilizes GMRES iterative refinement in FP64 to bring the solution back to 64 bits accuracy. Numerical tests show that on two Intel CPU platforms with avx2 and avx512, q8gemm achieves a speedup of 1.313-1.621 over cblas_sgemm of MKL. The execution time of cblas_gemm_s8u8s32 makes up 86.78%-90.85% of the q8gemm. By means of q8gemm, our q8gesv can achieve a speedup of 1.176-1.493 over the optimized Higham’s mixed-precision algorithm utilized in the HPL-AI benchmark and a speedup of 1.1-1.459 over the LAPACKE_dsgesv function from MKL LAPACK. Meanwhile, q8gesv runs up to 2.859X faster on Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10600KF and to 2.224X faster on Intel(R) Xeon(R) Gold 6130 than the LAPACKE_dgesv function from MKL LAPACK.

Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), one of the most representative algorithms of deep learning, are widely used in various artificial intelligence applications. Convolution operations often take most of the computational overhead of CNNs. The FFT-based algorithm can improve the efficiency of convolution by reducing its algorithm complexity, there are a lot of works about the high-performance implementation of FFT-based convolution on many-core CPUs. However, there is no optimization for the non-uniform memory access (NUMA) characteristics in manycore CPUs. In this paper, we present a NUMA-aware FFT-based convolution implementation on ARMv8 many-core CPUs with NUMA architectures. The implementation can reduce a number of remote memory access through the data reordering of FFT transformations and the three-level parallelization of the complex matrix multiplication. The experiment results on a ARMv8 many-core CPU with NUMA architectures demonstrate that our NUMA-aware implementation has much better performance than the state-of-the-art work in most cases.
