Accurate and efficient airway segmentation is essential for evaluating pulmonary diseases, aiding diagnosis, reducing the preoperative burden of airway identification, and minimizing patient discomfort during prolonged surgeries. However, current pulmonary airway reconstruction techniques are hindered by two major challenges: difficulty in accurately reconstructing fine airway branches due to the tendency to overlook small targets, and insufficient structural connectivity leading to frequent branch discontinuities within the airway tree. These limitations directly affect the clinical applicability of reconstructed airways. To overcome these challenges, a novel 3D pulmonary airway segmentation multi-task framework is proposed, designed to enhance the performance of existing backbone models. This approach integrates Anatomical Prior-Based Multi-Task Learning (AP-MTL) through the use of Gaussian-constructed connectivity-enhanced isosurfaces, significantly improving the network’s ability to maintain airway continuity. Additionally, a Class-Balanced CT Density Distribution Reconstruction mechanism (DDR-CB) is introduced, further refining the model’s capability to detect and segment fine airway branches. As a result of these enhancements, the model demonstrates a 11.5% average improvement in segmentation accuracy and connectivity compared to the baseline. Concurrency control algorithms are key determinants of the performance of in-memory databases. Existing algorithms are designed to work well for certain workloads. For example, optimistic concurrency control (OCC) is better than twophase- locking (2PL) under low contention, while the converse is true under high contention. To adapt to different workloads, prior works mix or switch between a few known algorithms using manual insights or simple heuristics. We propose a learning-based framework that instead explicitly optimizes concurrency control via offline training to maximize performance. Instead of choosing among a small number of known algorithms, our approach searches in a "policy space" of fine-grained actions, resulting in novel algorithms that can outperform existing algorithms by specializing to a given workload. We build Polyjuice based on our learning framework and evaluate it against several existing algorithms. Under different configurations of TPC-C and TPC-E, Polyjuice can achieve throughput numbers higher than the best of existing algorithms by 15% to 56%. Copyright © 2021, The Authors. False data injection cyber-attack detection models on smart grid operation have been much explored recently, considering analytical physics-based and data-driven solutions. Recently, a hybrid data-driven physics-based model framework for monitoring the smart grid is developed. However, the framework has not been implemented in real-time environment yet. In this paper, the framework of the hybrid model is developed within a real-time simulation environment. OPAL-RT real-time simulator is used to enable Hardware-in-the-Loop testing of the framework. IEEE 9-bus system is considered as a testing grid for gaining insight. The process of building the framework and the challenges faced during development are presented. The performance of the framework is investigated under various false data injection attacks.

Although the canbus limits, it stills used in all modern automobiles. Several researches focused on enhancing its reliability and data transfer speed. A combining between switching fabric technology and canprotocol produced an impressive results. By reflecting on the major performance boost especially on throughput, latency delay and loss probability we can touch the switching fabric contribution. In this paper we will present a new switched fabric can based on broadcast pattern. This latter solution is always a mixture between canprotocol and switched fabric technology where we played on the internal architecture of our previous model. By looking for a fast and reliable hardware solution, we replaced the crossbar pattern by broadcasting one. In fact, this latter is the most suitable pattern for the canprotocol by nature. The second major modification touches scheduler site. In order to obtain an optimized circuit frequency, we used just one scheduler that induce to reduce the integrated circuit area cost. As a result, the latency delay, the loss probability, the throughput, power consumption and clock threshold results show notable enhancing. In this paper, we modeled, implemented and evaluated a broadcasting switched fabric can. The implementation results was obtained by simulated the vhdl design under modelsim tool.

This work presents a hybrid data-driven and physics-based framework for high-impedance fault detection in power systems. An innovative method based on eigenvalue analysis is expanded and validated. Phasor Measurement Unit data is used to estimate eigenvalues corresponding to the powerlines being monitored. Eigenvalue statistics are then tracked and evaluated. Faults are detected as they drive eigenvalues outside of their normal zones. This technique holds several advantages over contemporary techniques: It utilizes technology that is already deployed in the field, it offers a significant degree of generality, and so far it has displayed a very high-level of sensitivity without sacrificing accuracy. Validation is performed in the form of simulations based in the IEEE 13 Node System and non-linear fault models. Test results are encouraging, indicating potential for real-life applications. © 2023, CC BY.

Optical Wireless (OW) provides an alternative to RF for wireless connectivity. In applications where Radio Frequency (RF) might interfere with system operations, OW can be used to provide connectivity. This work studies the applicability of OW to connect two agents in a swarm. The work discusses transmitter and receiver designs and shares the results of simulation and lab experiments for different circuits configurations. The work shows the results of a reliable 100Kbps link between agents operating at a distance of approximately equal to 3 meters.

One major tool of Energy Management systems for monitoring the status of the power grid is State Estimation (SE). Since the results of state estimation are used within the energy management system, the security of the power system state estimation tool is most important. The research in this area is targeting detection of False Data Injection attacks on measurements. Though this aspect is crucial, SE also depends on database that are used to describe the relationship between measurements and systems' states. This paper presents a two-stage optimization framework to not only detect, but also correct cyber-attacks pertaining the measurements' model parameters used by the SE routine. In the first stage, an estimate of the line parameters ratios are obtained. In the second stage, the estimated ratios from stage I are used in a Bi-Level model for obtaining a final estimate of the measurements' model parameters. Hence, the presented framework does not only unify the detection and correction in a single optimization run, but also provide a monitoring scheme for the SE database that is typically considered static. In addition, in the two stages, linear programming framework is preserved. For validation, the IEEE 118 bus system is used for implementation. The results illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed model for detecting attacks in the database used in the state estimation process.

In this paper we present some novel algorithms for scheduling hierarchical signal flow graphs in the domain of high-level synthesis. There are several key contributions of this paper. First, we develop a novel extension of the force directed scheduling problem which naturally handles loops and conditionals by coming up with a scheme of scheduling hierarchical signal flow graphs. Second, we develop three new parallel algorithms for the scheduling problem. Third, our parallel algorithms are portable across a wide range of parallel platforms. We report results on a set of high-level synthesis benchmarks on 8-processor SGI Challenge and a network of 4 SUN SPARCstation5 work stations. Finally, while some parallel algorithms for VLSI CAD reported by earlier researchers have reported a loss of qualities of results, our parallel algorithms produce exactly the same results as the sequential algorithms on which they are based.

We develop a new software layer called the Automatic parallel Detection Layer (APDL) for the automatic transformation from sequential to parallel code. The main interest, in this research, is the parallelism at loop level, because significant parallelism in programs almost invariably occurs in loops. The proposed APDL has five processes for code transformation: the sequential source code parser, data dependence analysis of this code, partitioning, scheduling both task and data, and generating parallel source code. Many cases have been studied to evaluate the performance of the developed layer. The performance is evaluated depending on the execution time of: the sequential code, the parallel programmer code, and the code output from APDL for the same case study. Performance results show that APDL greatly improves the execution time with respect to sequential execution time, and saves on the high cost of a parallel programmer.
