Open-dose by reconstruction is one of the most important algorithms in mathematical morphology, it was used widely in image and video processing, but it requires the huge computational power, what is the bottleneck for application. So in this paper, Cellular Neural Network (CNN) is used to solve the problem, new +1 template and "and" template are designed here, along with the already developed templates and image preprocessing technique, the gray-scale open-close by reconstruction is realized. Experimental results based on CNN simulator are shown, proved that the speed on CNN is about 300 times faster than in traditional PC, the real time processing can be realized.

Motivated by the requirements of the present archaeology, we are developing an automated system for archaeological classification and reconstruction of ceramics. This paper shows a method to answer archaeological questions about the manufacturing process of ancient ceramics, which is important to determine the technological advancement of ancient culture. The method is based on the estimation of the profile lines of ceramic fragments, which can also be applied to complete vessels. Multi-spectral imaging for the analysis and preservation of ancient documents has gained high attention in recent years. While readability enhancement is based on the multi-spectral image corpus, foreground-background separation still relies mainly on gray level or color images. In this paper we propose a foreground-background separation algorithm designed for multi-spectral images. The main contribution is the simultaneously utilization of spectral and spatial features. While spectral features incorporate the spectral components of the multi-spectral images, the spatial features are based on stroke properties. Higher order Markov Random Fields enables an efficient way to combine both features. To solve higher order energy functions, we introduce a new message update rule in the well known belief propagation algorithm based on a higher order potential function. Copyright 2010 ACM.

In this paper we present the recently granted tripleB-ID project that aims to detect suspicious actions and criminal offences in bank foyers. Based on the situation in Austria and on the actual needs of our partner bank, we deduce scenarios of interest and analyse the technical challenges. As a preliminary work, we furthermore present a fully automated method for the mapping between a static and a dynamic camera and show how this can be used to easily and fast set up a master-slave camera system.
