This paper proposed an accelerated algorithm for EWA volume Splatting based on modern graphic processing unit (GPU). It mainly made use of point sprite, frame buffer object and programmable function of GPU. In the algorithm, sampling points are directly regarded as proxy geometry, three dimension texture coordinates at pixels are computed by ray tracing in GPU and Gaussian filter is replaced by an approximate filter. The experimental results demonstrate that the algorithm can be used in high quality and interactive visualization.

It is very popular to represent 3D surface model by triangle mesh in several fields. Based on triangle mesh model, this paper proposed an algorithm which applies adjacency and incidence framework (AIF) to implement efficient virtual cutting and splitting operation. There are three main steps composing the whole process, that is, definition of cutting path, reconstruction of triangle mesh and selection of isolated facets. By AIF algorithm, it is easy to get the continuous cutting path on any surface, to modify the triangle mesh and to get the relationship of facets' topology. With the searching technique, AIF also helps to separate certain isolated parts of mesh efficiently. Through this proposed method, it is quite easy to conduct efficient cutting and splitting and obtain more precise and better real visualized rendering view at last.

We propose a straightforward skin detection method for online videos. To overcome varying illumination circumstances and a variety of skin colors, we introduce a multiple model approach which can be carried out independently per model. The color models are initiated by skin detection based on face detection and adapted in real time. Our approach outperforms static approaches both in precision and runtime. If we detect a face in a scene, the number of false positives can be diminished significantly. Evaluation is carried out on publicly available on-line videos showing that adaptive multiple model outperforms static methods in classification precision and suppression of false positives. There are two key problems in efficient large scale texture mapping for terrain rendering-efficient data organization and real time data updating in memory. In order to solve these problems, in this paper we propose a quadtree based indexing method to organize multi-resolution images and to fast retrieve data from disk; For memory updating, we present a real time dual-cache structure based updating method, which effectively reduces the frequency of data refresh. We also innovatively use a wavelet image enhancement algorithm to enhance original terrain texture, which obtain richer edge information and give us a more realistic effect in terrain rendering. Through the analysis of storage efficiency and rendering speed of our experiment, this dual-cache structure based method solves rendering speed and memory limit problems perfectly.

Analyzing notor imagery electrocardiogram (ECoG) signal is very challenging for it is hard to set up a classifier based on the labeled ECoG obtained in the first session and apply it to the unlabeled test data obtained in the second session. Here we propose a new approach to analyze ECoG trails in the case of session-to-session transfer exists. In our approach, firstly, dimension reduction is performed with independent component analysis (ICA) decomposition. Secondly, ECoG trials are clustered by an unsupervised learning algorithm called affinity propagation. Primary experimental results show that the proposed approach gives the reasonable result than that using the classical K-means clustering algorithm.

We present a new feature extraction method, which called the complete two-dimensional principal component analysis (Complete 2DPCA), for image registration. Complete 2DPCA is based on 2D image matrices. Two image covariance matrices are constructed directly using the original image matrix and their eigenvectors are derived for image feature extraction. In the 2D image registration scheme, we propose complete 2DPCA to extract features from the image sets, and these features are input vectors of feedforward neural networks (FNN). Neural network outputs are registration parameters with respect to reference and observed image sets. Comparative experiments are performed between complete 2DPCA based method and other feature based methods. The results show that the proposed method has an encouraging performance.
