Here we demonstrate that cancer metastasis could be modulated by the judicious tuning of ph.sical parameters such as ph.tothermal temperature in nanoparticle-mediated ph.tothermal therapy (PTT). This is supported by theranostic nanosystem design and characterization, in vitro and in vivo analyses, and transcriptome-based gene profiling. In this work, the highly efficient near-infrared II (NIR-II) ph.toacoustic image (PA)-guided PTT are selectively activated using our developed matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-triggered in situ assembly of gold nanodandelions (GNds@gelatin). Unlike other "always-on" NIR PTT agents lacking specific bioactivation and suffering from the intrinsic nonspecific pseudosignals and treatment-related side effects such as metastasis, our GNds@gelatin possesses important advantages while deployed in cancer PTT that include the following: (1) The theranostic effects could be "turned on" only after specific MMP-2/-9 activity and with acidity in the tumor microenvironment. (2) The quantitative PA diagnosis allows for precise PTT planning for better cancer treatment. (3) GNds@gelatin could noninvasively quantify MMP activity and efficiently harness NIR-I (808 nm) and NIR-II (1064 nm) energies for tumor ablation. (4) The multibranched nanostructures reabsorb scattered laser ph.tons, thus enhancing the surface plasmons for the pronounced ph.tothermal conversion of aggregated GNds@gelatin in situ. (5) It is noteworthy that in situ tumor eradication at higher PTT temperature (>55 °C) mediated by GNds@gelatin could induce subsequent metastasis, which could be otherwise abolished at lower PTT temperatures (50 °C > T > 43 °C). (6) Furthermore, the gene profiling using transcriptome-based microarray including GO and KEGG analyses revealed that 315 differentially expressed genes were identified in higher PTT temperature treated tumors compared with lower PTT temperature ones. The fusion of technology and culinary exploration has allowed for the emergence of advanced online customer service systems. We developed a novel approach to enhance the dining experience. We used a Cuisine Image Recognition and Recommender System (CIRRS) powered by Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to identify and suggest diverse cuisines based on visual inputs. CIRRS swiftly identified diverse cuisines from user-captured images, offering information on origin, ingredients, and variations by crawling websites. The system enhanced dining experiences by suggesting personalized menus based on individual preferences and past selections. Extensively tested across various culinary genres, CIRRS consistently demonstrated accuracy and adaptability. User feedback validated its potential to simplify dining choices and elevate satisfaction. This innovative system enriched dining experiences as a valuable tool for culinary enthusiasts, chefs, and restaurateurs, bridging the gap between technology and gastronomy, It also offers a unique way to explore Taiwanese cuisines.

Grinding wheel specification cybernetic recommendation with multi-task multi-imbalanced learning in smart manufacturing system

Over the years, the grinding wheels industry has played a crucial role in mechanical engineering. Grinding wheel specification is composed of various factors such as abrasive type, wheel grade, bond type, and more, which are derived from customer workpiece operation information. Traditionally, the determination process of grinding wheel specifications is complicated. Experienced engineers need to check out the limitation and consider the interaction of each factor. When the new specification order comes, engineers have to spend a lot of time on historical data search and discussion. Recently, the application of artificial intelligence attracts more and more attention in the manufacturing industry. Through collecting historical data, the model has the ability to extract the domain knowledge, predict the specification that does not exist, and reduce the decision time. However, when training the model, this grinding wheel specification faced multiple imbalanced targets and multi-task issues. In the past, research efforts primarily focused on studying single-task learning (STL) algorithms. Seldom of them has a systematic way to discuss the model determination of multiple targets and correlation influence, especially on the tabular-type dataset. In this study, we proposed a multiple resampling chain multi-task learning framework to address the issue of data science. To tackle the multi-task imbalance resampling problem, we also proposed a resampling strategy called Multiple Resampling Chain. Moreover, we conducted a sensitivity analysis to examine the correlation effect on model improvement. Finally, we proposed a cyber-recommendation system that integrates the training model and interface to provide a more intuitive way of specification prediction. This system not only can help engineers to improve the time spent on making decisions, but also make the whole manufacturing process to be more intelligent. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd

The kitchen waste compost treatment of diesel contaminated soil has the advantages of good bioremediation effect and low treatment cost. However, through understanding the mechanism of microbial degradation of diesel, the disadvantage of biological treatment time in the composting process is too time-consuming. The research results showed that the evolution of microbial communities was affected by ph.sicochemical parameters in the composting process. during the heating period, it was found that Lactobacillus sakei and Escherichia coli were acid producing bacteria. Pseudomonas putida GB-1 is a terpenoid producing bacterium. Bacillus sp. was found to be aldehyde and sulfide producing bacteria during high temperature composting. Brevibacillus borstenensis and Low G + C Gram positive bacteria are ammonia producing bacteria. The microbial degradation mechanism could be deduced according to the VOCs change in compost gas, and the strategies to promote the efficiency of biological treatment in the composting process were provided for reference. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd

developments in network infrastructure and progress in sensor devices have brought the rise of the Internet of Everything (IoE). The technologies and applications are characterized by overall perception, tight connection, and intelligent responses. This study explored the application of the IoE in education such that these features can be utilized in educational institutions and areas designated for educational services. Focus was placed on the use of the Smart Manager in school attendance tracking, notification system, and security monitoring system for more broad and comprehensive campus safety. © 2021 IEEE.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) serves as a vitreous substitute owing to its ability to mimic the ph.sical functions of native vitreous humor. However, pure HA hydrogels alone do not provide sufficient protection against potential inflammatory risks following vitrectomy. In this study, HA was crosslinked with 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether (BddE) to form HA hydrogels (HB). Subsequently, the anti-inflammatory agent epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) was added to the hydrogel (HBE) for oph.halmic applications as a vitreous substitute. The characterization results indicated the successful preparation of HB with transparency, refractive index, and osmolality similar to those of native vitreous humor, and with good injectability. The anti-inflammatory ability of HBE was also confirmed by the reduced expression of inflammatory genes in retinal pigment epithelial cells treated with HBE compared with those treated with HB. In a New Zealand white rabbit model undergoing vitreous substitution treatment, HBE 50 (EGCG 50 μM addition) exhibited positive results at 28 days post-surgery. These outcomes included restored intraocular pressure, improved electroretinogram responses, minimal increase in corneal thickness, and no inflammation during histological examination. This study demonstrated the potential of an injectable HA-BddE cross-linked hydrogel containing EGCG as a vitreous substitute for vitrectomy applications, offering prolonged degradation time and anti-inflammatory effects postoperatively. © 2024 The Authors

This research aims to create a virtual reality-based practice system that simulates real-stage performance environments, assisting amateur dancers in overcoming stage fright and practicing group choreograph. that is difficult to achieve during individual practice. In this study, users can engage in performance simulations within the created system using the HTC VIVE virtual reality device. Within the system, we have developed a virtual stage space system that only requires a 2m x 3.5m ph.sical area to simulate a large virtual stage experience. Users can also simulate choreograph.c positioning with virtual dance partners within this system, providing amateur dancers with group dance rehearsal practice opportunities that are not feasible during solo practice. Additionally, by creating three different audience modes, we aim to help users simulate various audience scenarios they may encounter during a performance. The system includes a recording feature that captures users' simulated performances, allowing them to review their actions and receive feedback after practice.

In our study, β-Ga2O3 particles of various morph.logies deposited on FTO glass substrates through hydrothermal method under different ph.conditions and pre-stirring temperatures. The particles examined using XRd, FESEM, FTIR and Raman spectroscopy instruments. The results showed that the β-Ga2O3 microrods prepared with ph.3.15 solution at different pre-stirring temperatures followed by hydrothermal reaction had several crystalline orientations ([−401], [002], [403]). The FTIR and Raman spectra measurements confirmed the existence of Ga−O−Ga and Ga−OH bending modes. In the range of ph.3-11, the EGFET-ph.sensor prepared with β-Ga2O3 microrods shown a high current-ph.sensitivity of 0.541 (mA)1/2 /ph.with a linearity of 97.83 % and a high voltage-ph.sensitivity of 73.99 mV/ph.with linearity of 96.85 %. These results suggest that β-Ga2O3 microrods have ph.sensitivity higher than the ideal Nernstian response. This confirms the use of β-Ga2O3 microrods as a sensing membrane in high-performance ph.sensors or biosensors. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this work, hydrothermal (HT)-synthesized gallium oxide (Ga2O3) nanorods were applied on indium tin oxide (ITO) glass substrates to create a dual-functional ph.glucose sensing device. Extended-gate field-effect transistors (EGFETs) were designed for ph.and glucose sensing, and the response to ph.levels ranging from 1 to 11 was tested using both chemical bath deposition (CBd) and high-pressure hydrothermal methods. Two sensor configurations, Ga2O3(CBd)/ITO/glass and Ga2O3(HT)/ITO/glass, were immersed in solution ph. to 11 and cultured medium for hydrogen ion and glucose sensing. The results demonstrated that, for ph.sensing in different samples, both IdS-VdS analysis and IdS-VGS analysis showed superior linearity and sensitivity with the HT method. For glucose detection, the HT method was selected for further experiments due to its maintained concentration-dependent relationship and selectivity towards various common sugars. When using culture medium dMEM as the sample (4.5 mg/ml glucose concentration), the accuracy of glucose estimation reached 99%. Stability and biocompatibility tests were also conducted, and the results indicated consistent performance. In summary, the HT-synthesized Ga2O3 nanorods exhibited high sensitivity, selectivity, and stability without affecting cell growth. Therefore, they hold great potential for applications not only in general blood glucose sensing but also in studying cell microenvironment metabolism. © 2023 Elsevier B.V.

This paper presents a comprehensive review on the current state of digital simulation technology and its strategic application usages with a key focus on advanced compression garments. Although three-dimensional(3d) digital garment simulators have significantly impacted the apparel and textile industry, their use has been limited to visual prototyping, quality checking, or marketing. The ph.sical properties of garment simulators have been overlooked in advanced functional manufacturing. This literature review investigates the possibility of strategically utilizing virtual ph.sical properties to enhance garment functions, specifically in wearables and medical-grade compression fields. The first ph.se of this paper gives an overview of the current state of 3d garment simulation tools and their measurement features. This is followed by a gap analysis between simulated and ph.sical property evaluations, focusing on minimizing the gaps. The literature is thoroughly examined to identify appropriate studies that uses digital tools for compressional garments and add value to wearables and healthcare applications. This paper provides valuable insights for apparel and textile engineers, enabling them to better understand the limitations and capabilities of garment simulators in improving advanced features for specific end users.
