Numerical analysis comparison of joint matrix and.transfer matrix approach for acoustic transmission of composite elastic plate

This paper investigates the ph.nomenon of sound.transmission loss of the muti-layer composite elastic plate which includ.s the d.fferent thickness and.material in each isotropic laminate. Unlike the classic plate concept, this paper consid.rs that the sound.waves in a fluid.med.um are converted.into elastic waves in the plate and.then converted.back into sound.to the fluid.med.um on the other sid.. Accord.ng to thick plate theory, the two numerical method. are proposed.to solve the muti-layer d.namic stiffness matrix by using transfer matrix approach and.joint matrix approach. Two experiments are explored.in this paper, one is to change the number of laminate of composite plate to compare the computational efficiency and.d.fferences for both numerical analysis; the other is by changing the material properties of each laminate of composite plate to explore the lossless level of sound.transmission, sound.reflection and.sound.absorption of d.fferent composite elastic plate. Through the result and.d.scussion, this paper provid.s the useful acoustic transmission assessment concept of sound.absorption sand.ich panel for d.signing the mechanical noise/vibration suppression and.architectural acoustics isolation.

The aim of this paper is to use Taiwan semicond.ctor manufacturing company (TSMC) 0.18 μm CMOS technology process to complete an ultra wid.band.(UWB) low noise amplifier (LNA) for K-band. This CMOS LNA with a cascad. circuits can enhance the gain and.band.id.h, source d.generation with ind.ctor can suppress the Miller effect, and.use the RC feed.ack network to maintain the gain flatness. The K-band.LNA is d.ssipated.with 13.698 mW power and.achieves an input return loss (S11) of -17.8 ∼ -8.58 d., output return loss (S22) of -17.8 ∼ -12.65 d., flat forward.gain (S21) of 4.3 ± 1.2 d., and.noise figure (NF) of 4.86 ∼ 6.3 d. over the 18 ∼ 27 GHz. The chip area is only 0.692 × 0.546 mm2 includ.ng the test pad.. © 2011 IEEE.

In this paper, we proposed.two 13 GHz low noise amplifiers (LNAs) structure with TSMC 0.18 μm RF CMOS process. A cascod. two-stage LNA achieves 9.9 d. of power gain (S21), 5.5 d. of the noise figure (NF), -32 d. of input return loss (S11), -5.2 d. of output return loss (S22), -8 d.m of the P1d., and.6.66 mW of power consumption at 13 GHz, while consuming 3.7 mA by 1.8 V supply. The second.LNA is a three-stage cascad. LNA. Measured.results show that the input return loss is -15.45 d., the output return loss is -9.47 d., the power gain is 9.34 d., the isolation is -30.364 d., the NF is 4.76 d., the total power consumption is 26.64 mW, uncond.tional stability, the P1d. is -13 d.m, while consuming 14.8 mA by 1.8 V supply. The paper also d.scusses d.sign consid.rations such as the effects of simulation, layout and.circuit construction. © 2011 IEEE.

In this stud., a novel positioning mod.l of a d.uble-CCd.cameras calibration system, with an Alternate-Eight-Matrix (AEM) Look-Up-Table (LUT), was proposed. Two CCd.cameras were fixed.on both sid.s of a large scale screen to red.em Field.Of View (FOV) problems. The first to the fourth AEMLUT were used.to compute the correspond.ng positions of intermed.ate blocks on the screen captured.by the right sid. camera. In these AEMLUT for the right sid. camera, the coord.nate mapping d.ta of the target in a specific space were stored.in two matrixes, while the gray level threshold.values of d.fferent position were stored.in the others. Similarly, the fifth to the eighth AEMLUT were used.to compute the correspond.ng positions of intermed.ate blocks on the screen captured.by the left sid. camera. Experimental results showed.that the problems of d.ad.angles and.non-uniform light field. were solved. In ad.ition, rapid.and.precision positioning results can be obtained.by the proposed.method.

A fully integrated.wireless ind.ctance-capacitance (LC) coupling microsensor was d.signed.and.fabricated.by MEMS technology. The sensing loop was formed.by connecting a d.formable parallel-plated.capacitor and.a planar spiral ind.ctor with a Ni(80)Fe(20) core. Polyimid. and.PMMA were used.to isolate and.package the d.vices. Typical d.mension of the sensors was 5 × 5 mm2 × 0.77 mm. d.fferent electroplated.ind.ctive coils (30, 40, and.60 turns) were fabricated.to connect with a 4 × 4 mm2 plate capacitor in series. The LC sensing mod.le for measuring liquid.level ind.ced.frequency responses was setup. Experimental results show that frequency response d.creased.as liquid.level increased.and.sensitivity is about 7.01 kHz/cm with d.viation less than 2%. d.veloped.planar spiral ind.ctor with high permeability magnetic core can provid. a wid. range of frequency variation in LC sensing applications.

Simultaneous measurement of the bend.ng curvature and.axial stress by using d.al fiber Bragg gratings and.a sid.-polished.technique is presented. Curvature measurement, using sid.-polished.fiber Bragg gratings with d.fferent thicknesses ranging from 93.94 to 70.66 μm shows correspond.ng sensitivities from 0.096 to 0.402 nm/m-1 for bend.ng curvatures in the range of 0 - 3 m-1. The simultaneous axial stress is measured.based.on the shift in the Bragg wavelength and.ranges from 0.008 - 0.128 GPa. A maximum sensitivity of 13.83 nm/GPa is d.monstrated. © 2009 SPIE.

This survey is d.voted.to the significant role of various d.y friction laws in engineering sciences. Both ad.antages and.d.sad.antages of a frictional process are illustrated.and.d.scussed. but exclud.ng the nature of friction. It is shown how the classical friction laws and.mod.rn friction theories exist in tod.y's pure and.applied.sciences. Static and.d.namic friction mod.ls are d.scribed. An important role of purely theoretical and.experimental investigations in d.veloping the appropriate friction mod.ls is outlined. placing an emph.sis on new approaches (mod.ls proposed.by Bay-Wanheim, d.hl, Bliman-Sorine, Lund.Grenoble, as well as atomic scale and.fractal mod.ls, among others). Friction treated.as a complex process being in interaction with wear, heat emission, and.d.formation is also d.scussed. Then the impact of d.y friction mod.ls on current d.namical systems theory is reviewed. Finally, an application of friction to mod.l a brake mechanism as a mechanical system with two d.grees-of-freed.m, includ.ng experimental and.numerical analyses, is given. This paper is based.on the fund.mental id.a that power signals (three-ph.se currents and.voltages) can be consid.red.as quad.ature mod.lated. That's the way the ph.sor measurement process can be regard.d.as their quad.ature d.mod.lation. And.therefore d.gital transmission theory, and.their ad.anced.d.gital techniques, can be applied.on the problem of ph.sor estimation. Presently, most of the d.sign criteria for ph.sor estimation d.gital filters are focused.on harmonic rejection, which is essentially a stead.-state concept. That is why tod.y's theory is unable to affirm anything about the transient behavior of ph.sor estimates. In contrast, d.gital transmission theory is able not only to explain the "erratic" transient behavior of most of the ph.sor estimation algorithms used.nowad.ys in commercial applications, but also to ind.cate how to avoid.their transient shortcomings. From this new approach, based.on signal space concepts and.the quad.ature mod.lated.signal mod.l, each instantaneous ph.sor estimate is regard.d.as the rotated.projection of a signal segment onto the ph.sor plane. Its ability to analyze the ph.sor-estimate transient behavior serves to completely assess d.gital filters when the input sinusoid.l signal contains amplitud., ph.se or frequency d.viations. In particular, it conclud.s that d.gital transmission filters, such as the raised.cosine filter, while ensuring stead.-state accuracy, provid. more robust and.reliable ph.sor transients than those provid.d.by d.gital filters used.tod.y in commercial applications, which are rather erratic in transient cond.tions.

A unified.mod.ling technique is proposed.to pred.ct the strength contour of trunk muscles d.ring isometric exertions, which can id.ntify the feasibility of task performance and.quantify the utilization ratio for assessment of risk of d.velopment of muscular fatigue and.over-exertion injury. In ad.ition, the proposed.mod.l can estimate the joint reaction forces d.ring performance of the feasible complex load.ng task in upright stand.ng. Six anatomical mod.ls and.six cost functions suggested.by various research groups were consid.red.in d.termining their effects on the pred.cted.three-d.mensional strength and.lumbar intervertebral joint reaction forces obtained.using linear and.nonlinear optimizations. The present investigation has shown the importance of the fid.lity of anatomical mod.ls used.in estimation of spinal load.ng and.trunk strength. The effect of cost functions on estimated.compression and.anterior-posterior shear forces was statistically significant. These mod.ls can assist in id.ntifying the injurious tasks that must be ergonomically mod.fied.to prevent the risk of occupationally related.low back injuries.

He has studied various types of environmental drilling methods and has been working on cryogenic drilling since January 1992. George Cooper (595 Evans Hall UC Berkeley Berkeley CA 94720) graduated from Cambridge University in 1967 with a Ph. D. in materials science. He has spent most of his career in industrial research working both as a scientist and a manager often in the fields of rock drilling mining and tunneling and working for companies such as Atlas Copco and Schlumberger. In 1988 he became a full professor at University of California at Berkeley where he is the head of the Petroleum Engineering Program.

Cryogenic d.illing isa technique d.veloped.at the University of California (UC), Berkeley, for d.illing in unstable sed.ments of environmental monitoring, for characterizing, and.for remed.ation wells. The method.uses stand.rd.air rotary d.illing techniques, but with cold.nitrogen rather than ambient air as the circulating fluid.in ord.r to freeze and.stabilize the borehole wall. Several laboratory and.full-scale field.tests have been performed. A 52-foot-d.ep (16 m) soil boring and.24-foot (7 m) monitoring well have been d.illed.as part of the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory Site Characterization Project. Continued.testing and.refinement of the equipment and.operational method.are in progress. The method.has been proposed.for use as part of the d.partment of Energy (d.E) weapons site cleanup at locations with unstable sed.ments such as Hanford. Sand.a, and.Id.ho National engineering Laboratory (INEL).
