This stud. investigates the effects of the vent-area on bubble-microstructure and.shrinkage variation of gas-assisted.foam-injection mold.ng (GAFIM). The mold.ng material is polystyrene (PS), and.the gas foaming agent is nitrogen (N2). This stud. carried.out the injection experiment with and.without GAFIM to observe the mold.ng characteristics of gas-filling pressure variation. In ad.ition, the integration of vent-area volumes and.cavity pressure measurement was d.veloped.to achieve foam growth and.microstructure insid. the sample to observe the effect of with and.without vent-area on shrinkage variation and.correlated.pressure d.stribution near gate position d.ring the filling process. The experimental results revealed.that with the vent-area, the sample d.mension shrinkage was relatively improved.and.the sample weight was red.ced. On the other hand. the bubble-d.stribution increased.with the changes in the volume of the vent-area and.gas-filling pressure as the foam growth space increased. © 2020 IEEE.

Wind.power has been recognized.as one of the important green energy resources in Taiwan. However, installing large-capacity wind.generators need. to meet many environmental regulations, limiting the penetration of wind.power to household./communities. In this paper, the d.sign of a novel d.uble-d.ck vertical-axis wind.generator for household. is presented. hoping "many a little makes a mickle" and.making better use of green energy to red.ce carbon emission. The proposed.wind.generator is an axial-flux permanent-magnet (PM) synchronous generator, which d.sign is d.fferent from other existing wind.generators in several aspects: (1) d.uble d.cks for d.uble wind.turbines vs. single turbine, (2) silicon-steel-lamination-cored.vs. air-cored.for armature coils, and.(3) axial-flux PM generator vs. conventional PM generator. The performance of the proposed.d.sign is simulated.with the aid.of a finite element software package. The experimental results are consistent with the simulation. The prototype of the proposed.wind.generator is also compared.with a commercial mini wind.generator on the market. The proposed.wind.generator prod.ces satisfactory results.

Systems of Systems engineering, SOSE, is a new field.and.opens a wid. challenge for Systems engineering researchers who are d.aling with large scale complex systems. Integration is one of many tasks required.by Systems Engineers who are involved.in the process of acquiring a working system that fulfills the main mission of the large scale system. Generally, there are three large scale complex systems cases that need.to be integrated. 1) new systems with new systems, 2) old.systems with new systems, and.3) old.systems with old.systems. In the literature,the main focus of the research is on Systems engineering integration processes for systems which are still und.r d.sign and.before their final ph.se-out. This research presents a contribution to d.fine the System of Systems engineering (SOSE) science through facilitating the integration of two existing large scale complex systems "old.system to old.system" into one using a simple and.clear new process mod.l for integration. One of the reasons for selecting this caseis the significant need.to integrate "old.systems with other old.systems". The integration process has many approaches and.mod.ls, i.e. V-Mod.l which is mostly used.d.ring the life cycle of build.ng a system. What makes this research unique is the introd.ction of the "M-mod.l" thatfacilitates integration of "existing / old. large scale complex systems with each other. The M-Mod.l starts with d.fining the "Problem statement," then the sequence of build.ng-up d.cuments and.plans lead. to a master plan d.cumented.called."SOSE Master Plan (SOSEMP)." This survey is d.voted.to the significant role of various d.y friction laws in engineering sciences. Both ad.antages and.d.sad.antages of a frictional process are illustrated.and.d.scussed. but exclud.ng the nature of friction. It is shown how the classical friction laws and.mod.rn friction theories exist in tod.y's pure and.applied.sciences. Static and.d.namic friction mod.ls are d.scribed. An important role of purely theoretical and.experimental investigations in d.veloping the appropriate friction mod.ls is outlined. placing an emph.sis on new approaches (mod.ls proposed.by Bay-Wanheim, d.hl, Bliman-Sorine, Lund.Grenoble, as well as atomic scale and.fractal mod.ls, among others). Friction treated.as a complex process being in interaction with wear, heat emission, and.d.formation is also d.scussed. Then the impact of d.y friction mod.ls on current d.namical systems theory is reviewed. Finally, an application of friction to mod.l a brake mechanism as a mechanical system with two d.grees-of-freed.m, includ.ng experimental and.numerical analyses, is given. A two-d.mensional (2d. zirconium-based.metal-organic framework (Zr-MOF) with abund.nt terminal -OH/-OH2 groups on its nod.s, ZrBTB (BTB = 1,3,5-tris(4-carboxyph.nyl)benzene), is utilized.as a platform for d.al post-synthetic mod.fications (PSM) to immobilize both the benzoph.none-based.ph.tosensitizer (benzoph.none-4,4′-d.carboxylate, bzpd.) and.terbium ions onto the 2d.Zr-MOF molecular sheets. Terbium ions are installed.on the 2d.Zr-MOF at various temperatures to ad.ust the load.ng of terbium ions on the 2d.Zr-MOF while preserving the load.ng of the ph.tosensitizer. The crystallinity, morph.logy, porosity, and.load.ngs of both bzpd. ligand. and.terbium ions are characterized.for each material, and.the coord.nating locations of terbium ions in the Zr-MOF structure are investigated. The ph.toluminescence (PL) properties of these materials are then examined. Since the installed.bzpd. ligand.can ind.ce a highly efficient energy transfer to the neighbouring terbium ion upon excitation, the obtained.material after d.al PSM (ZrBTB-bzpd.-Tb-120) can show strong PL emissions of terbium ions upon the excitation of the bzpd. ligand.at 355 nm, with a PL quantum yield.of 5.04%. It is more ad.antageous than the 2d.Zr-MOF solely functionalized.with terbium ions, which can only exhibit similar emissions upon the excitation of the BTB linker at a less friend.y wavelength of 310 nm, with a lower PL quantum yield.of 2.94%. Owing to the high chemical stability as well as good.d.spersity of the luminescent ZrBTB-bzpd.-Tb-120 in water, its performances in selective PL sensing of Fe(iii) ions present in aqueous solutions are investigated. © 2024 The Royal Society of Chemistry.

Municipal solid.waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash containing hazard.us Pb and.or Cd. trace d.oxins and.high chlorine content is a tough waste and.d.fficult for recycle. An innovative method.of transforming MSWI fly ash as a recyclable and.value-ad.ed.glass is presented. A representative MSWI fly ash was sampled.and.TCLP-Pb and.water-soluble chlorine (Cl–) were 11.1 mg/L (regulatory limit, 5.0 mg/L) and.20.1% respectively. d.fferent ratios of MSWI fly ash mixing with flux (sod.um carbonate or potassium carbonate) and.silica sand.or waste glass were fired.around.1,200–1,300 °C. The results showed.that light green glass can be fabricated.at an optimal cond.tion of MSWI fly ash: flux: silica sand.(or waste glass) ˜ 0.3: 0.3: 0.4, and.both of water absorption and.porosity was Nd.moreover, refractive ind.x (nd. was 1.546 (similar to normal glass) and.leaching concentrations of Pb and.Cd.in accord.nce with ISO 7086-2:2000 test method.were Nd. The ph.sico-chemical property of fabricated.glass reveals that MSWI fly ash transforming into a recyclable, safe, and.value-ad.ed.prod.ct is practicable and.can be d.veloped.in the near future. ©The Mining and.Materials Processing Institute of Japan

Four novel id.as are proposed.in this paper to integrate an active RFId.tag with thermal convection angular accelerometer on an engineering plastic substrate, thus the d.vice is a wireless sensor. The first innovative id.a is that this d.vice is without any movable parts, so it is very reliable. The second.new id.a is that it is mad. on an engineering plastic substrate, such as polyimid., the thermal cond.ctivity is much lower than silicon, so it can save more power and.very useful for mobile operation. The third.new id.a is that the xenon gas is applied.in the chamber for heat convection instead.of CO2 used.in the trad.tional thermal convection accelerometer. Carbon d.oxid. can prod.ce oxid.tion effect to the heater and.thermal sensors, while the inert gas xenon will not. The fourth new id.a is the most powerful one to integrate with an active RFId.tag on the same substrate, thus it is very useful for mobile operation, and.is very easy for usage and.fabrication. If one consid.rs sensitivity as the first priority, then choose the floating structure (233°C/(rad.s2)). On the other hand. if the response speed.is the requirement, then the non-floating structure is better (70μs). © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Simultaneous measurement of the bend.ng curvature and.axial stress by using d.al fiber Bragg gratings and.a sid.-polished.technique is presented. Curvature measurement, using sid.-polished.fiber Bragg gratings with d.fferent thicknesses ranging from 93.94 to 70.66 μm shows correspond.ng sensitivities from 0.096 to 0.402 nm/m-1 for bend.ng curvatures in the range of 0 - 3 m-1. The simultaneous axial stress is measured.based.on the shift in the Bragg wavelength and.ranges from 0.008 - 0.128 GPa. A maximum sensitivity of 13.83 nm/GPa is d.monstrated. © 2009 SPIE.

He has studied various types of environmental drilling methods and has been working on cryogenic drilling since January 1992. George Cooper (595 Evans Hall UC Berkeley Berkeley CA 94720) graduated from Cambridge University in 1967 with a Ph. D. in materials science. He has spent most of his career in industrial research working both as a scientist and a manager often in the fields of rock drilling mining and tunneling and working for companies such as Atlas Copco and Schlumberger. In 1988 he became a full professor at University of California at Berkeley where he is the head of the Petroleum Engineering Program.

Cryogenic d.illing isa technique d.veloped.at the University of California (UC), Berkeley, for d.illing in unstable sed.ments of environmental monitoring, for characterizing, and.for remed.ation wells. The method.uses stand.rd.air rotary d.illing techniques, but with cold.nitrogen rather than ambient air as the circulating fluid.in ord.r to freeze and.stabilize the borehole wall. Several laboratory and.full-scale field.tests have been performed. A 52-foot-d.ep (16 m) soil boring and.24-foot (7 m) monitoring well have been d.illed.as part of the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory Site Characterization Project. Continued.testing and.refinement of the equipment and.operational method.are in progress. The method.has been proposed.for use as part of the d.partment of Energy (d.E) weapons site cleanup at locations with unstable sed.ments such as Hanford. Sand.a, and.Id.ho National engineering Laboratory (INEL).

Corrected.Formula of Bed.Resistance Coefficient for Plane Numerical Simulation of Tid.l Current

By means of a logarithm law for the velocity profile, a corrected.formula of bed.resistance coefficient, which involves many factors such as grad.ent of still water d.pth, variation of surface elevation, flow d.rection, and.so on, is d.rived.from the 3d.governing equations of tid.l current by averaging over the whole water d.pth. Theoretical analysis and.application have shown that the 2d.plane tid.l current numerical mod.l would.be more reasonable and.could.be applied.to steep bottom topograph. when the corrected.bed.resistance coefficient is used. therefore the results of reprod.ction simulation and.engineering calculation would.be more scientific and.reasonable.
