This stud. aims to establish equations for energy consumptions of Taiwan Railways Ad.inistration (TRA) trains in operation consid.ring the variations of slope to d.termine the traction energy cost (TEC). Where railway transportation has been one of the important means of transport for mankind. since TRA became electrified.the parameters for train operations have been able to be accurately record.d. The equations for overall energy consumption and.resistance parameters are completed.for the overall energy consumption of TRA trains and.resistance to them to simulate the operation of the whole train mod.l. The inputs of d.fferent cond.tions of trains and.track sections are then analyzed.for energy use, as the energy use by train travel is obvious. That by the behavior of energy use, can be d.vid.d.in three cond.tions for analysis which is acceleration, coasting and.d.celeration. In the analysis of the energy in the journey, the variation of its consumption is subject to multiple factors because of the d.fference in operation mod.l and.the variation in the track slope d.ta. In view of d.creasing unnecessary energy consumption, the equations for train energy consumption and.the track parameters are substituted.in the teaching-learning-based.optimization (TLBO) technique, which can compute the optimal results fast. The optimal results being incorporated.in the trains can help red.ce unnecessary energy consumption and.errors by human operations and.arrive at the d.stination on sched.le. By the equations for energy consumption, train parameters, and.TLBO, our stud. proved.to be able to red.ce energy use as well as ensure of Top Transport Time Expend.ture (TTE) of the trains.

Gelatin, wid.ly employed.in hyd.ogel d.essings, faces limitations when used.in high fluid.environments, hind.ring effective material ad.esion to wound.sites and.subsequently red.cing treatment efficacy. The rapid.d.grad.tion of conventional hyd.ogels often results in breakd.wn before complete wound.healing. Thus, there is a pressing need.for the d.velopment of d.rable ad.esive wound.d.essings. In this stud., 3-glycid.xypropyltrimethoxysilane (GPTMS) was utilized.as a coupling agent to create gelatin-silica hybrid.(G-H) d.essings through the sol-gel method. The coupling reaction established.covalent bond. between gelatin and.silica networks, enhancing structural stability. d.pamine (d.) was introd.ced.to this hybrid.(G-H-d. d.essing to further boost ad.esiveness. The efficacy of the d.essings for wound.management was assessed.through in-vitro and.in-vivo tests, along with ex-vivo bioad.esion testing on pig skin. Tensile bioad.esion tests d.monstrated.that the G-H-d.material exhibited.approximately 2.5 times greater ad.esion to soft tissue in wet cond.tions compared.to pure gelatin. Moreover, in-vitro and.in-vivo wound.healing experiments revealed.a significant increase in wound.healing rates. Consequently, this material shows promise as a viable option for use as a moist wound.d.essing. © 2023

Build.ng maps of unknown environments is a critical factor for autonomous navigation and.homing, and.this problem is especially challenging in large-scale environments. Recently, sensor fusion systems such as combinations of cameras and.laser sensors have become popular in the effort to ensure a general level of performance in this task. In this paper, we present a new homing method.in a large-scale environment using a laser-camera fusion system. Instead.of fusing d.ta to form a single map build.r, we ad.ptively select sensor d.ta to hand.e environments which contain ambiguity. For autonomous homing, we propose a new mapping strategy for build.ng a hybrid.map and.a return strategy for selecting the next target waypoints efficiently. The experimental results d.monstrate that the proposed.algorithm enables the autonomous homing of a robot in a large-scale ind.or environments in real time.

His research interest is waste management and life cycle assessment. Robert W. Gillham is a professor and chairman of the Department of Earth Science (Waterloo Centre for Groundwater Research Department of Earth Sciences University of Waterloo Waterloo Ontario N2L 3GI Canada) and former director of the Waterloo Centre for Groundwater Research at the University of Waterloo Waterloo Canada. He holds a Ph.D. in soil physics from the University of Illinois. His major research interests concern transport and transformation of contaminants in soil and ground water and in situ remediation technology. Hans-Jorgen Albrechtsen received his Ph.D. in microbial ecology from the Department of General Microbiology at the University of Copenhagen in 1991. He is currently an assistant professsor at the Institute of Environmental Science and Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark Lyngby (Groundwater Research Centre Bldg. 115 Technical University of Denmark DK-2800 Lyngby Denmark). His research interests include characterization of subsurface microbiology degradation of organic chemicals and microbial aspects of drinking water. Thomas H. Christensen received his Ph. An in situ microcosm (ISM) consists of a stainless steel cylind.r isolating about 2 L of the aquifer and.is equipped.with valves allowing for load.ng and.sampling from the ground.surface. d.ring the last five years, this technique has been used.frequently to stud. the d.grad.tion of organic chemicals in polluted.and.pristine aquifers representing d.fferent red.x environments. The ISM technique has great potential for provid.ng field.relevant d.grad.tion potentials and.rate constants, but care must be taken in using the equipment and.interpreting the results. This paper provid.s d.tails concerning the installation and.operation of an ISM and.presents experiences concerning d.ta interpretation and.monitoring of red.x cond.tions.

This paper investigates the ph.nomenon of sound.transmission loss of the muti-layer composite elastic plate which includ.s the d.fferent thickness and.material in each isotropic laminate. Unlike the classic plate concept, this paper consid.rs that the sound.waves in a fluid.med.um are converted.into elastic waves in the plate and.then converted.back into sound.to the fluid.med.um on the other sid.. Accord.ng to thick plate theory, the two numerical method. are proposed.to solve the muti-layer d.namic stiffness matrix by using transfer matrix approach and.joint matrix approach. Two experiments are explored.in this paper, one is to change the number of laminate of composite plate to compare the computational efficiency and.d.fferences for both numerical analysis; the other is by changing the material properties of each laminate of composite plate to explore the lossless level of sound.transmission, sound.reflection and.sound.absorption of d.fferent composite elastic plate. Through the result and.d.scussion, this paper provid.s the useful acoustic transmission assessment concept of sound.absorption sand.ich panel for d.signing the mechanical noise/vibration suppression and.architectural acoustics isolation.

In this paper a mathematical formalism, based.on a geometrical approach, is proposed.for d.fining the concepts of instantaneous active and.instantaneous reactive power. Use is mad. of the d.t prod.ct and.the cross prod.ct for three-d.mensional vectors. The relationship with the analysis proposed.by Akagi et al. and.by Ferrero and.co-authors is d.scussed.in d.tail. In particular it is shown that the proposed.formalism is well suited.to d.al with three-ph.se currents and.voltages with zero-sequence components.

Geotextile has been commonly used.in civil and.geotechnical engineering applications, and.the majority of geotextiles is mad. of nonwoven fabrics. Therefore, this stud. combines crimped.polyester (PET) fibers, recycled.Kevlar unid.rectional selvage fibers, and.low-melting-point PET (LPET) fibers to form PET/Kevlar/LPET nonwoven geotextiles, and.then examines how various neeld.-punch d.pths influence mechanical properties of the resulting nonwoven geotextiles. The tensile strength, tearing strength, bursting strength, and.static puncture resistance of the nonwoven fabrics increase as a result of an increase of 0.3 cm to 0.5 cm in need.e-punch d.pth. However, an increase of 0.5 cm to 0.7 cm causes a slight d.crease in all aforementioned.properties. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Geotextiles feature reinforcement, d.ainage, filtration, separation, and.act as a moisture barrier, and.are commonly used.in civil and.geotechnical engineering applications. Using nonwoven fabrics as geotextiles has become a recent trend.therefore, this stud. combines crimped.polyester (PET) fibers, recycled.Kevlar unid.rectional selvage fibers, and.low-melting-point PET (LPET) fiber to make PET/Kevlar/LPET nonwoven geotextiles, the mechanical properties of which are then examined. The test results show that the tensile strength and.tearing strength of the PET/Kevlar/LPET nonwoven geotextiles increases as a result of an increasing need.e-punch rate from 150 punches/min to 200 punches/min. The mechanical properties along the cross machine d.reciton (Cd. of the nonwoven geotextiles is greater than that along the machine d.rection (Md.. When the need.e-punching rate exceed. 200 punches/min, the mechanical properties of the nonwoven geotextiles slightly d.crease.

Human health/socioeconomic d.velopment is closely correlated.to environmental pollution, highlighting the need.to monitor contaminants in the real environment with reliable d.vices such as biosensors. Recently, variety of biosensors gained.high attention and.employed.as application, in real-time, and.cost-effective analytical tools for healthy environment. For continuous environmental monitoring, it is necessary for portable, cost-effective, quick, and.flexible biosensing d.vices. These benefits of the biosensor strategy are related.to the Sustainable d.velopment Goals (Sd.s) established.by the United.Nations (UN), especially with reference to clean water and.sources of energy. However, the relationship between Sd.s and.biosensor application for environmental monitoring is not well und.rstood. In ad.ition, some limitations and.challenges might hind.r the biosensor application on environmental monitoring. Herein, we reviewed.the d.fferent types of biosensors, principle and.applications, and.their correlation with Sd. 6, 12, 13, 14, and.15 as a reference for related.authorities and.ad.inistrators to consid.r. Absolute cross sections for the reactions Ne²⁰(d. n)Na²¹ g.s. and.Ne²⁰(d. n)Na²¹ (0.34 MeV) have been measured.in the range of incid.nt particle energies from 1.3 to 2.3 MeV. A ph.nomenological analysis has been applied.to the total cross section for the Ne²⁰(d. n)Na²¹ (0.34 MeV) reaction to separate the d.rect interaction contribution from the resonant state formation. The d.rect interaction contribution turns out to be very small ind.cating that the pred.minant reaction mechanism is a resonant type process. © 1965.
