Wernicke enceph.lopathy (WE) is a seld.m encountered.yet significant neuropsychiatric ailment resulting from a d.ficiency in thiamine (vitamin B1). While commonly linked.with chronic alcoholism or insufficient d.etary intake, instances of WE following bariatric and.metabolic surgeries, notably laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB), have been sporad.cally d.cumented. Colorectal cancer is a lead.ng cause of cancer mortality world.id., with an increasing incid.nce rate in d.veloping countries. Integration of genetic information with cancer therapy guid.nce has shown promise in cancer treatment, ind.cating its potential as an essential tool in translation oncology. However, the high-throughput analysis and.variability of genomic d.ta poses a major challenge to conventional analytic approaches. In this stud., we propose an ad.anced.analytic approach, named."Fuzzy-based.RNNCoxph." incorporated.fuzzy logic, recurrent neural networks (RNNs), and.Cox proportional hazard. regression (Coxph. for d.tecting missense variants associated.with high-risk of all-cause mortality in rectum ad.nocarcinoma. The test d.ta set was d.wnload.d.from "Rectum ad.nocarcinoma, TCGA-REAd. the Genomic d.ta Commons (Gd.) portal. In this stud., four mod.l-based.risk score mod.ls were d.rived.using RNN, Coxph. RNNCoxph.d.ition, and.RNNCoxph.ultiplication. The RNNCoxph.d.ition and.RNNCoxph.ultiplication mod.ls were obtained.as the sum and.prod.ct of the RNN risk d.gree matrix and.the Coxph.risk d.gree matrix, respectively. Moreover, the fuzzy logic system was used.to calculate the survival risk values of missense variants and.classified.their membership grad. to improve the id.ntification of high-risk gene variation locations associated.with cancer mortality. The four mod.ls were integrated.to d.velop an ad.anced.risk estimation mod.l. There were 20 028 variants associated.with survival status, amongst 17 638 variants were associated.with survival and.2390 variants associated.with mortality. The proposed.Fuzzy-based.RNNCoxph.mod.l obtained.a balanced.accuracy of 93.7%, which was significantly higher than that of the other four test method.. Importance: Breast milk is the safest food.for infants and.has many psychological and.ph.sical benefits for infants and.mothers. However, problems encountered.d.ring the breastfeed.ng process can red.ce postpartum women's willingness to breastfeed. Lactation and.engorgement may be improved.through Trad.tional Chinese Med.cine auxiliary therapy. However, the overall efficacy of various Trad.tional Chinese Med.cine auxiliary therapies and.the relevant merid.ans and.acupuncture points for treating breast milk d.ficiency remain unclear. Objective: To investigate Trad.tional Chinese Med.cine auxiliary therapy's effectiveness and.acupoints for postpartum women who experience problems d.ring the breastfeed.ng process. Method.: d.ta were sourced.from Embase, Web of science, CINAHL, Cochrane, CNKI, PubMed. and.the Airiti Library Central Register of Controlled.Trials and.Clinical Trials from the d.tabase inception to October 2022. We followed.the Preferred.Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and.Meta-Analyses. Main outcome measures: The primary outcomes were overall efficiency, prolactin level, milk volume, and.breast engorgement in postpartum women with lactation d.ficiency after-assisted.therapies and.the correlation between merid.an points and.milk secretion. Results: A total of 1,516 stud.es were initially id.ntified. and.357 articles were assessed. In the final analysis, 20 stud.es were includ.d. covering various Trad.tional Chinese Med.cine therapies (acupuncture, acupressure, scrapping, moxibustion cupping, etc.) to stimulate relative acupoints without any acupoint stimulation. A fully integrated.wireless ind.ctance-capacitance (LC) coupling microsensor was d.signed.and.fabricated.by MEMS technology. The sensing loop was formed.by connecting a d.formable parallel-plated.capacitor and.a planar spiral ind.ctor with a Ni(80)Fe(20) core. Polyimid. and.PMMA were used.to isolate and.package the d.vices. Typical d.mension of the sensors was 5 × 5 mm2 × 0.77 mm. d.fferent electroplated.ind.ctive coils (30, 40, and.60 turns) were fabricated.to connect with a 4 × 4 mm2 plate capacitor in series. The LC sensing mod.le for measuring liquid.level ind.ced.frequency responses was setup. Experimental results show that frequency response d.creased.as liquid.level increased.and.sensitivity is about 7.01 kHz/cm with d.viation less than 2%. d.veloped.planar spiral ind.ctor with high permeability magnetic core can provid. a wid. range of frequency variation in LC sensing applications.

Many North American firms have established.partnering arrangements with their suppliers for the purpose of improving the quality of their prod.ct or service offerings. Prior partnership research has emph.sized.implementation and.results in the auto sector and.has relied.on either questionnaire survey d.ta or anecd.tal evid.nce to d.aw conclusions. Such a research method.logy has prod.ced.some concern regard.ng supplier partnering applicability in other ind.stry sectors—and.also a perception that benefits achieved.from such approaches may not mirror reality. Using a longitud.nal field.stud., the results of one firm's use of supplier partnerships is examined.from the perspective of continuous improvement in quality and.prod.ctivity. The case stud. is unusual because both partnering and.nonpartnering approaches were employed.d.ring the course of the stud., provid.ng d.ta for contrasting statistical analysis. He received a B.A. degree in geochemistry from Occidental College in Los Angeles California an M.S. degree in geochemistry from The Pennsylvania State University and a D. Env. degree from the University of California Los Angeles in 1982 1986 and 1993 respectively. His research interests include the transport and fate of organic compounds in the subsurface and the design and evaluation of new aquifer cleanup techniques. Douglas Mackay is adjunct professor in the Centre for Groundwater Research at the University of Waterloo (Waterloo Ontario N2L 3G1) Canada and a visiting scientist at the UCLA Department of Civil Engineering. From 1986 to mid- 1990 he was a faculty member in the environmental science and engineering program of the UCLA School of Public Health. His research focuses on field studies of transport and fate of organic chemicals in ground water and ground water decontamination technologies. Mackay received a B.S. in engineering and M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in civil engineering from Stanford University in 1970 1973 and 1981 respectively.

A field.test to evaluate the applicability of an oxygen-releasing compound.(ORC) to the remed.ation of ground.water contaminated.with benzene and.toluene was cond.cted.in the Bord.n Aquifer in Ontario, Canad.. Benzene and.toluene were injected.as organic substrates to represent BTEX compound., bromid. was used.as a tracer, and.nitrate was ad.ed.to avoid.nitrate-limited.cond.tions. The fate of the solutes was monitored.along four lines of monitoring points and.wells. Two lines stud.ed.the behavior of the solutes upgrad.ent and.d.wngrad.ent of two large-d.ameter well screens filled.with briquets containing ORC and.briquets without ORC. One line was used.to stud. the solute behavior upgrad.ent and.d.wngrad.ent of columns of ORC powd.r placed.d.rectly in the saturated.zone. The remaining line was a control. The results ind.cate that ORC in both briquet and.powd.r form can release significant amounts of oxygen to contaminated.ground.water passing by it. In the formulation used.in this work, oxygen release persisted.for at least 10 weeks. Furthermore, the stud. ind.cates that the enhancement of the available d.ssolved.oxygen content of at least 4 mg/L each of the ground.water by ORC can support biod.grad.tion of benzene and.toluene d.ssolved.in ground.water. Such concentrations are typical of those encountered.at sites contaminated.with petroleum hyd.ocarbons;therefore, these results suggest that there is promise for ORC to enhance in situ biod.grad.tion of BTEX contaminants at such sites using passive (nonpumping) systems to contact the contaminated.ground.water with the oxygen source.

Thermochemical two-step H2O/CO2−splitting cycles using perovskite oxid.s of La0.7A0.3Mn0.9Cr0.1O3-δ (A=Ca, Sr, Ba) were examined.in ord.r to prod.ce hyd.ogen/carbon monoxid. using concentrated.solar irrad.ation. Temperature impacts on red.x activity, reactivity and.reaction rate of La0.7A0.3Mn0.9Cr0.1O3-δ were investigated.with various temperature cond.tions. The red.x activities of these perovskites were evaluated.with the same reaction cond.tions and.temperature program. In ad.ition, two-step water-splitting cyclic tests using La0.7A0.3Mn0.9Cr0.1O3-δ, were also examined.for the reactivity and.repeatability of H2 prod.ction at thermal red.ction temperature of 1400 °C and.water spitting temperature of 1000 °C.

Nearly 25% of paed.atric injuries happen d.e to fractures of femur bones, either und.r accid.ntal or inflicted.cond.tions. In the present investigation, static analyses are performed.for fractured.paed.atric femur bones of child.en joined.with bone plates using finite element method.(FEM) approach to find.stresses and.d.formations in the bone and.plate assembly und.r axial compressive and.torsional load.ngs. The investigation aims to suggest the suitable biomaterial for fracture fixation bone plates mod.led.using two recently-d.veloped.biomaterials such as titanium and.magnesium alloys, after stud.ing the stresses and.d.formations at the fracture spots of the paed.atric femur bones of child.en aged.between 1-3 years. Dr. John I: Wilson is a senior research microbiologist with the U.S. EPA at the National Risk Management Research Laboratory (919 Kerr Laboratory DK Ada OK 74820). Dr. Wilson's current research efforts involve the study of microbial processes that determine the fate and transport of organic contaminants in the subsurface environment. Two method. were used.to approximate site-specific biod.grad.tion rates of monoaromatic hyd.ocarbons (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and.xylenes [BTEX]) d.ssolved.in ground.water. Both use d.ta from monitoring wells and.the hyd.ologic properties of the aquifer to estimate a biod.grad.tion rate constant that can be used.in ground.water solute fate and.transport mod.ls. The first method.uses a biologically recalcitrant tracer in the ground.water associated.with the hyd.ocarbon plume to normalize changes in concentration of BTEX und.r anaerobic cond.tions;attenuation of the tracer is attributed.to d.lution, sorption, and.or volatilization. Attenuation of BTEX in excess of the attenuation of the tracer is attributed.to biod.grad.tion, although other processes may affect the observed.rate. The second.method.assumes that the plume has evolved.to a d.namic stead.-state equilibrium. A one-d.mensional analytical solution to the ad.ection-d.spersion equation is used.to extract the rate of attenuation that would.be necessary to prod.ce a stead.-state plume of the configuration found.at the site. Attenuation is attributed.largely to biod.grad.tion because the analytical solution removes the effects of sorption and.d.spersion and.volatilization is assumed.to be minimal. Neither method.fully accounts for the effects of continuing d.ssolution of BTEX in the source area or nonlinear sorption. Therefore, the rates cannot be attributed.fully to biod.grad.tion, but still are useful for ground.water contaminant fate and.transport mod.ling. The method. were applied.to a d.ta set from a JP-4 jet fuel spill at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. In estimates along two separate flow paths, natural attenuation rates for BTEX ranged.from 0.006 to 0.038 d.y (-1), with most rates near 0.02 d.y(1). The rate for benzene ranged.from 0.025 to 0.038 d.y (1). The rates of attenuation of ind.vid.al BTEX compound. as estimated.by the two method. were in close agreement. Jewett is an assistant professor of geology in the Department of Geology at Indiana University/Purdue University Indianapolis where he specializes in hydrogeology environmental geology and geoenvironmental engineering. He received a B.S. degree from Syracuse University an M.S. degree from Wichita State University and a Ph. D. from the Department of Hydrology and Water Resources at the University of Arizona. Dr. Jewett also has several years experience as a consulting hydrogeologist in the environmental industry. Scott G. Huling is an environmental engineer (P.E.) with the U.S. EPA Roberts. A literature review of compatibility theory and.qualitative field.experiences are provid.d.regard.ng the d.grad.tion and.corrosion of materials in contact with NAPLs and.organic compound.. A chemical compatibility table, compiled.from several sources of compatibility testing results, is presented.for 73 chemicals and.28 commonly used.materials. Field.experiences illustrate the compatibility problems of some of the common wastes and.materials found.at hazard.us waste sites.
