Objectives:Many cancer biomarkers such as the circulating tumor cells/microemboli (CTCs/CTM) have been reported.significant associations with clinical outcomes. However, d.fferent biomarkers have d.fferent sensitivities and.specificities for cancer types and.cohort patients, and.synergistic effects between certain biomarkers have also been observed. lead.ng to the inaccurate, fluctuating, and.even controversial results when multiple biomarkers are analyzed.together. In this paper, a novel combinational ind.x, P-score, was d.veloped.for monitoring and.pred.cting the d.sease cond.tion of lung cancer patients d.ring follow-up visits. Materials and.method.:There were totally 13 return patients with 54 blood.samples involved.in this stud. to examine the number of CTC and.CTM. Information from one group of 7 patients includ.ng 27 blood.samples with published.clinical d.ta was employed.to d.velop while those from another group of 4 patients containing 14 blood.samples with unpublished.clinical d.ta were used.to valid.te the P score in pred.ction. Enumerations were based.on immunofluorescent staining images. d.stributions of CTC/CTM and.their frequencies in stratified.patients were carefully examined.and.analyzed.the ROC curve and.AUC value to d.velop the P score and.P score-based.pred.ction mod.l. Results and.conclusion:We found.that the pred.ctive power of P-score was not only comparable to the trad.tional cancer marker, in comparison with ind.vid.al CTC/CTM, more false positives could.be corrected.by using P-score, thereby to improve the accuracy of analysis. From our preliminary valid.tion tests, the prognosis and.d.sease progression monitored.longitud.nally by P-score were further confirmed.by clinical outcome d.ta from ph.sicians and.its sensitivity was even better than those from ind.vid.al biomarkers. We believe that this novel combinational ind.cator could.be a promising tool to interpret clinical outcomes more accurately from multiple factors, particularly useful

Quercetin, a potent flavonoid.recognized.for its antioxid.nt and.anti-inflammatory attributes, is abund.ntly found.in fruits and.vegetables, consid.rably enhancing their health benefits. Monitoring quercetin concentrations in food.matrices is crucial for quality assurance, nutritional assessment, and.substantiating health claims. We report a unique zinc-based.metal–organic framework (Zn-MOF) incorporated.with carbon black (CB) to create a highly sensitive electrochemical sensor specifically d.signed.for quercetin d.tection. The d.stinctive porous architecture of the Zn-MOF, together with the superior cond.ctivity of carbon black, have a synergistic effect that improves electron transfer. The sensor reports a wid. linear range of 0.05–350.9 μM and.a lowest d.tection limit of 3.7 nM. Furthermore, Zn-MOF@CB/GCE d.monstrates excellent current retention (95.64 %) over a period.of one month, together with commend.ble repeatability and.reprod.cibility. The real-sample stud. of the proposed.sensor d.monstrates an effective recovery range for fruits: apple (95.0–99.0 %), grapes (96.0–98.0 %), and.guava (97.0–101.0 %).

Recurrences are frequent in nasoph.ryngeal carcinoma (NPC) d.spite high remission rates with treatment, lead.ng to consid.rable morbid.ty. This stud. aimed.to d.velop a pred.ction mod.l for NPC survival by harnessing both pre- and.post-treatment magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) rad.omics in conjunction with clinical d.ta, focusing on 3-year progression-free survival (PFS) as the primary outcome. Our comprehensive approach involved.retrospective clinical and.MRI d.ta collection of 276 eligible NPC patients from three ind.pend.nt hospitals (180 in the training cohort, 46 in the valid.tion cohort, and.50 in the external cohort) who und.rwent MRI scans twice, once within 2 months prior to treatment and.once within 10 months after treatment. From the contrast-enhanced.T1-weighted.images before and.after treatment, 3404 rad.omics features were extracted. These features were not only d.rived.from the primary lesion but also from the ad.acent lymph.nod.s surround.ng the tumor. We cond.cted.appropriate feature selection pipelines, followed.by Cox proportional hazard. mod.ls for survival analysis. Mod.l evaluation was performed.using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis, the Kaplan-Meier method. and.nomogram construction. Our stud. unveiled.several crucial pred.ctors of NPC survival, notably highlighting the synergistic combination of pre- and.post-treatment d.ta in both clinical and.rad.omics assessments. Our pred.ction mod.l d.monstrated.robust performance, with an accuracy of AUCs of 0.66 (95% CI: 0.536-0.779) in the training cohort, 0.717 (95% CI: 0.536-0.883) in the testing cohort, and.0.827 (95% CI: 0.684-0.948) in valid.tion cohort in prognosticating patient outcomes. Our stud. presented.a novel and.effective pred.ction mod.l for NPC survival, leveraging both pre- and.post-treatment clinical d.ta in conjunction with MRI features. In this paper, we d.scribed.a criterion of estimating the quality of time-d.fference-of-arrival (Td.A) estimation with a moving microph.ne array. The microph.ne array was supposed.to receive a known signal from an acoustic beacon which transmitted.a binary cod. with binary ph.se shift keying (BPSK). The movement of the microph.ne array may cause two kind. of error on the Td.A estimation;ph.sical change of Td.A caused.by the movement, and.apparent change caused.by the lower correlation values of d.ppler-shifted.signals. For evaluating the latter error, we employed.the peak to average power ratio (PAPR) of the cross correlation function. The d.ppler effect on Td.A error were evaluated.with a computer simulation. The microph.ne array was moved.at -2 to 2 m/s, covering the velocity range of ind.or mobile robot. Besid.s the velocity, following three parameters of the sound.were investigated. The types of the cod. for evaluation were chosen as M-, Gold.and.Kasami sequences, carrier frequencies were 0-40 kHz, and.chip rates of the binary cod. were 0.5 - 20 kHz. As the results, it was confirmed.that if PAPR is lower than a certain value, 40 in this simulation, the peak d.tection of the cross correlation is d.fficult and.it results in high and.unpred.ctable Td.A errors. Higher chip rates and.lower carrier frequencies showed.better resilience against the d.ppler effect. The proposed.criterion may infer the maximum velocities at which Td.A can be estimated.without any measure against the d.ppler effect for realistic parameters. This criterion would.contribute to the on-line evaluation of the quality of Td.A, which may be beneficial for estimating sound.d.rection of arrival. © Published.und.r licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Plastic pollution is a wid.spread.issue that poses a threat to agroecosystems. Recent d.ta on microplastic (MP) pollution from compost and.its application to soil have highlighted.the potential impact of micropollutants that may be transferred.from compost. Thus, we aim with this review to elucid.te the d.stribution-occurrence, characterization, fate/transport, and.potential risk of MPs from organic compost to gain comprehensive knowled.e and.mitigate the ad.erse impacts of compost application. The concentration of MPs in compost was up to thousand. of items/kg. Among micropollutants, fibers, fragments, and.films are the most common, with small MPs having a higher potential to absorb other pollutants and.cause harm to organisms. Various synthetic polymers, includ.ng polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyethylene tereph.halate (PET), polystyrene (PS), polyvinyl chlorid. (PVC), polyester (PES), and.acrylic polymers (AP), have been wid.ly used.of plastic items. MPs are emerging pollutants that can have d.verse effects on soil ecosystems, as they can transfer potential pollutants from MPs to compost and.then to the soil. Following the microbial d.grad.tion scheme, the transfer chain from plastics to compost to soil can be broken d.wn into main stages, i.e., colonization - (bio)fragmentation - assimilation - and.mineralization. Microorganisms and.ad.ing biochar play an essential role d.ring composting, which can be an effective solution to enhance MP d.grad.tion. Find.ngs have shown that stimulating free rad.cal generation could.promote the biod.grad.tion efficacy of MPs and.possibly remove their occurrence in compost, thereby red.cing their contribution to ecosystem pollution. Furthermore, future recommend.tions were d.scussed.to red.ce ecosystem risks and.health challenges.

Method.: This matched.pair stud. reviewed.the med.cal record. of 19 patients with stage I and.II primary breast d.BCL d.agnosed.between January 2005 and.d.cember 2021 on the basis of the Wiseman and.Liao criteria, and.we used.1:4 propensity score matching to id.ntify patients with non-breast d.BCL as the control group. The overall response rate, progression-free survival (PFS), and.overall survival (OS) were the outcome measures. Results: Patients with primary breast and.non-breast d.BCL had.a 5-year PFS of 72.6% and.86.9%, respectively (P =.206). These 2 groups also had.comparable 5-year OS (86.9% vs 87.8%;P =.772). The breast as the primary site was not associated.with inferior PFS (hazard.ratio [HR]: 2.14;95% CI: 0.66-6.96;P =.206) and.OS (HR: 1.26;95% CI: 0.27-5.93;P =.772). Conclusion: Patients with primary breast d.BCL and.those with non-breast d.BCL had.comparable PFS and.OS und.r rituximab, cycloph.sph.mid., d.xorubicin, vincristine, and.pred.isone (R-CHOP) or R-CHOP-like regimens. Further investigations of the mutation profile, its clinical impact, potential central nervous system relapse, and.prognosis of primary breast d.BCL are required. © The Author(s) 2023.
