Previous stud.es have d.monstrated.that melatonin combined.with exercise can alleviate second.ry d.mage after spinal cord.injury in rats. Therefore, it is hypothesized.that melatonin combined.with exercise can also alleviate ischemic brain d.mage. In this stud., ad.lt rats were subjected.to right mid.le cerebral artery occlusion after receiving 10 mg/kg melatonin or vehicle subcutaneously twice d.ily for 14 d.ys. Forced.exercise using an animal tread.ill was performed.at 20 m/min for 30 minutes per d.y for 6 d.ys prior to mid.le cerebral artery occlusion. After mid.le cerebral artery occlusion, each rat received.melatonin combined.with exercise, melatonin or exercise alone equally for 7 d.ys until sacrifice. Interestingly, rats receiving melatonin combined.with exercise exhibited.more severe neurological d.ficits than those receiving melatonin or exercise alone. Hypoxia-ind.cible factor la mRNA in the brain tissue was upregulated.in rats receiving melatonin combined.with exercise. Similarly, microtubule associated.protein-2 mRNA expression was significantly upregulated.in rats receiving melatonin alone. Chond.oitin sulfate proteoglycan 4 （NG2） mRNA expression was significantly d.creased.in rats receiving melatonin combined.with exercise as well as in rats receiving exercise alone. Furthermore, neural cell loss in the primary motor cortex was significantly red.ced.in rats receiving melatonin or exercise alone, but the change was not observed.in rats receiving melatonin combined.with exercise. These find.ngs suggest that excessive intervention with melatonin, exercise or their combination may lead.to negative effects on ischemia/reperfusion-ind.ced.brain d.mage.

The aim of this paper is to use Taiwan semicond.ctor manufacturing company (TSMC) 0.18 μm CMOS technology process to complete an ultra wid.band.(UWB) low noise amplifier (LNA) for K-band. This CMOS LNA with a cascad. circuits can enhance the gain and.band.id.h, source d.generation with ind.ctor can suppress the Miller effect, and.use the RC feed.ack network to maintain the gain flatness. The K-band.LNA is d.ssipated.with 13.698 mW power and.achieves an input return loss (S11) of -17.8 ∼ -8.58 d., output return loss (S22) of -17.8 ∼ -12.65 d., flat forward.gain (S21) of 4.3 ± 1.2 d., and.noise figure (NF) of 4.86 ∼ 6.3 d. over the 18 ∼ 27 GHz. In this paper, we proposed.two 13 GHz low noise amplifiers (LNAs) structure with TSMC 0.18 μm RF CMOS process. A cascod. two-stage LNA achieves 9.9 d. of power gain (S21), 5.5 d. of the noise figure (NF), -32 d. of input return loss (S11), -5.2 d. of output return loss (S22), -8 d.m of the P1d., and.6.66 mW of power consumption at 13 GHz, while consuming 3.7 mA by 1.8 V supply. The second.LNA is a three-stage cascad. LNA. Measured.results show that the input return loss is -15.45 d., the output return loss is -9.47 d., the power gain is 9.34 d., the isolation is -30.364 d., the NF is 4.76 d., the total power consumption is 26.64 mW, uncond.tional stability, the P1d. is -13 d.m, while consuming 14.8 mA by 1.8 V supply. The paper also d.scusses d.sign consid.rations such as the effects of simulation, layout and.circuit construction. © 2011 IEEE.

We report systematic ab initio calculations of the electronic band.structure, ph.non d.spersion relation, and.the structural characterization of FeF2 in the rutile (P42/mnm) structure as well as in several high-pressure ph.ses by means of the generalized.grad.ent approximation (GGA)+U approximation. Using the ph.non d.spersion relations, we calculated.the Gibbs free energy and.evaluated.the ph.se transitions at 300 K, at which most experimental measurements are performed. Calculated.Raman and.infrared.vibrational mod.s, lattice parameters, and.electronic structure for all consid.red.crystalline structures are compared.with available experimental d.ta. Our calculations show that at 5.33 GPa, the FeF2 und.rgoes a second.ord.r proper ferroelastic ph.se transition, rutile → CaCl2-type structure. This result is supported.by the softening of the elastic shear mod.le Cs in the rutile ph.se, the softening (hard.ning) of the B1g (Ag) Raman active mod. in the rutile (CaCl2-type) structure near the transition pressure, and.the d.crease of the square of the spontaneous strain ess from the CaCl2-type structure. This d.monstrates that the rutile → CaCl2-type ph.se transition is d.iven by the coupling between the Raman active B1g mod. and.shear mod.lus Cs. At 8.22 GPa, the CaCl2-type structure und.rgoes a first-ord.r ph.se transition to the Pbca ph.se, a d.storted.fcc Pa3¯ ph.se with a volume red.ction of ΔV≈7%, as reported.in experiments. Upon further increase of the pressure, the Pbca ph.se transforms to a Fmmm ph.se othorhombic center-type structure at ∼20.38 GPa, with ΔV≈2.5%. Finally, at 25.05 GPa, there is a ph.se transition to the orthorhombic cotunnite structure (Pnma space group), with ΔV≈5.8%, which is stable up to 45 GPa, the largest consid.red.pressure. The coord.nation number for the Fe ion in each ph.se is 6, 6, 6, 8, and.9 for rutile, CaCl2-type, Pbca, Fmmm, and.cotunnite structures, respectively. Berm soils at small arms firing ranges (SAFRs) are contaminated.with metals as bullets impact the soil and.corrod.. These berms generally lack vegetation and.frequently suffer from erosion that may transport heavy metals (e.g. lead. into surface water and. occasionally, into ground.ater. Plants are generally useful for stabilizing metals in SAFR soils by red.cing particulate runoff. However, results have shown that plants appear to increase lead.solubility in surface runoff and.leachate. Stud.es were cond.cted.to investigate this ph.nomenon that plants enhance lead.solubility and.complexation. Hyd.oponic bermud. plant culture solutions were prepared. Plant culture and.soluble lead.solutions were reacted.to form lead.complexes. Ion exchange filtration was performed.to separate lead.complexes based.on relative molecular sizes. Results showed.that bermud. cultures increased.lead.solubility and.formed.measurable lead.complexes for fractionated.sizes. This survey is d.voted.to the significant role of various d.y friction laws in engineering sciences. Both ad.antages and.d.sad.antages of a frictional process are illustrated.and.d.scussed. but exclud.ng the nature of friction. It is shown how the classical friction laws and.mod.rn friction theories exist in tod.y's pure and.applied.sciences. Static and.d.namic friction mod.ls are d.scribed. An important role of purely theoretical and.experimental investigations in d.veloping the appropriate friction mod.ls is outlined. placing an emph.sis on new approaches (mod.ls proposed.by Bay-Wanheim, d.hl, Bliman-Sorine, Lund.Grenoble, as well as atomic scale and.fractal mod.ls, among others). Friction treated.as a complex process being in interaction with wear, heat emission, and.d.formation is also d.scussed. Then the impact of d.y friction mod.ls on current d.namical systems theory is reviewed. Finally, an application of friction to mod.l a brake mechanism as a mechanical system with two d.grees-of-freed.m, includ.ng experimental and.numerical analyses, is given.
