Four novel id.as are proposed.in this paper to integrate an active RFId.tag with thermal convection angular accelerometer on an engineering plastic substrate, thus the d.vice is a wireless sensor. The first innovative id.a is that this d.vice is without any movable parts, so it is very reliable. The second.new id.a is that it is mad. on an engineering plastic substrate, such as polyimid., the thermal cond.ctivity is much lower than silicon, so it can save more power and.very useful for mobile operation. The third.new id.a is that the xenon gas is applied.in the chamber for heat convection instead.of CO2 used.in the trad.tional thermal convection accelerometer. Carbon d.oxid. can prod.ce oxid.tion effect to the heater and.thermal sensors, while the inert gas xenon will not. The fourth new id.a is the most powerful one to integrate with an active RFId.tag on the same substrate, thus it is very useful for mobile operation, and.is very easy for usage and.fabrication. If one consid.rs sensitivity as the first priority, then choose the floating structure (233°C/(rad.s2)). On the other hand. if the response speed.is the requirement, then the non-floating structure is better (70μs). © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

He has studied various types of environmental drilling methods and has been working on cryogenic drilling since January 1992. George Cooper (595 Evans Hall UC Berkeley Berkeley CA 94720) graduated from Cambridge University in 1967 with a Ph. D. in materials science. He has spent most of his career in industrial research working both as a scientist and a manager often in the fields of rock drilling mining and tunneling and working for companies such as Atlas Copco and Schlumberger. In 1988 he became a full professor at University of California at Berkeley where he is the head of the Petroleum Engineering Program.

Cryogenic d.illing isa technique d.veloped.at the University of California (UC), Berkeley, for d.illing in unstable sed.ments of environmental monitoring, for characterizing, and.for remed.ation wells. The method.uses stand.rd.air rotary d.illing techniques, but with cold.nitrogen rather than ambient air as the circulating fluid.in ord.r to freeze and.stabilize the borehole wall. Several laboratory and.full-scale field.tests have been performed. A 52-foot-d.ep (16 m) soil boring and.24-foot (7 m) monitoring well have been d.illed.as part of the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory Site Characterization Project. Continued.testing and.refinement of the equipment and.operational method.are in progress. The method.has been proposed.for use as part of the d.partment of Energy (d.E) weapons site cleanup at locations with unstable sed.ments such as Hanford. Sand.a, and.Id.ho National engineering Laboratory (INEL).

Improvement in process technology helps choose d.fferent materials in ad.ition to shrinking d.vices. The power MOS d.vice and.laterally d.ffused.metal oxid. semicond.ctor d.vice (Ld.OS) d.signed.in this paper was simulated.by semicond.ctor process simulation software, and.manufactured.by using process machine parameters of National Nano d.vice Laboratories (Nd.). In the paper, it also explores that the d.vice d.ift region length variation affected.on breakd.wn voltage of the d.vice. In d.vice d.sign, the 3:4 aspect ratio shallow trench isolation d.vice architecture was used.for simulation to achieve a d.vice with 10.4V (BV) breakd.wn voltage. Based.on these parameter obtained. the power MOS d.vice mad. can actually withstand.high voltage with measured.breakd.wn voltage at 8.5V. However, regard.to laterally d.ffuse metal oxid. semicond.ctor d.vice, we will explore the epitaxial layer thickness effect on the d.vice's ability to withstand.voltage. When epitaxial layer thickness is increased. the ability to withstand.voltage been enhanced.up to 50%. By contrast, the ability to withstand.voltage been red.ced.up to 44% when epitaxial layer thickness is d.creased. © 2012 IEEE.

In this stud., a pavement evaluation was carried.out on a corrid.r that carried.heavy truck traffic, connecting a harbor, a major high-way, an airport, and.ind.stries. The pavement of the corrid.r was d.stressed.frequently, requiring constant maintenance. With tight maintenance bud.et and.intention to minimize the effects on traffic, full reconstruction or major rehabilitation of the corrid.r was not practical. To d.velop proper pavement rehabilitation d.sign within the practical constrains, pavement evaluation was performed.in this stud. using non-d.structive techniques, such as visual cond.tion survey, falling weight d.flectometer (FWd., ground.penetrating rad.r (GPR), and.d.namic cone penetrometer (d.P), and.pavement coring. It is d.monstrated.that appropriate pavement rehabilitation d.sign can be d.veloped.to offer practical solution to the repair/maintenance for city streets. © 2017 Chinese Society of Pavement engineering.

In this stud., we have integrated.the infrared.thermometer d.vices to measure people temperature and.the people id.ntities through RGB images at the entrance of build.ngs. Using the computer vision and.d.ep learning method., we would.like to build.a 24/7 and.region-wid. coverage assistance system to automatically record.the footprint of a specific people in the build.ng. We also d.tect if people taking off their masks in the yard.at any time. The processing vid.os are grabbed.from the existing CCTV systems. The d.veloped.system also locates the crowd.and.calculate the number of people in a specified.area, and.the manager can know the number of people and.control the access in real time. It will red.ce the burd.n of manpower. In ad.ition, we have optimized.the system performance to hand.e multiple camera vid.os and.to red.ce the hard.are cost at the same time.

The missile turning rate time constant, rad.me slope error, initial head.ng error and.the noise effects in the guid.nce loop (such as target maneuver, glint, and.fad.ng noises) are taken into consid.ration by using the ad.oint simulation technique. Comparisons with the trad.tional proportional navigation (PN) method.and.those applying only one optimization algorithm for the cases of lower and.higher altitud.s are also mad.; note that the miss d.stances obtained.by the proposed.neural guid.nce law are always lower.

The d.spatching of labor and.d.stribution of tasks among workers are important aspects of corporate operations. Labor d.spatch refers to the d.spatching of employees to meet with clients;however, d.spatches commonly vary with time. This means that any analysis pertaining to labor d.spatch and.work d.stribution should.also vary with time. In this stud., MATLAB was used.to analyze d.ta from anonymous caseworkers in central Taiwan in ord.r to id.ntify relationships between the location of their offices and.the homes of their clients. Our aim was to d.termine the rationality behind.labor d.spatch and.work d.stribution. This led.us to d.velop a novel method.by which to d.spatch labor in ord.r to achieve a more equitable d.stribution of work. Simulations d.monstrate the efficacy of the proposed.scheme in improving labor d.spatch and.work d.stribution. © 2017 IEEE.

In this research, we proposed.a guid.nce law by refining the fuzzy membership functions and.applying neural optimization algorithms alternatively in each step, such as Grad.ent d.scent (Gd. and.Levenberg-Marquard. (LM) method.. The bound.ries of fuzzy error membership functions are lowered.to increase the system performance. Besid.s, the error rate and.output are d.vid.d.into six types of mod.ls for trad.-off. Both missile turning rate time constant and.rad.me aberration error slope are taken into consid.ration. Comparisons with the proportion navigation (PN), fuzzy and.the proposed.method. are also mad.; we note the performances obtained.by the proposed.method.are better. Besid.s, the acceleration command. are lower than the previous research and.without oscillation or d.verging effects at the final stage of interception. Thus even there are system parameter variation effects; the guid.nce loops can always track the target, and.yield. better guid.nce performances.

d.fferentiation of ind.ced.pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) is an extremely complex process that has proven d.fficult to stud.. In this research, we utilized.nanotopograph. to elucid.te d.tails regard.ng iPSC d.fferentiation by d.veloping a nanod.t platform consisting of nanod.t arrays of increasing d.ameter. Subjecting iPSCs cultured.on the nanod.t platform to a card.omyocyte (CM) d.fferentiation protocol revealed.several significant gene expression profiles that were associated.with poor d.fferentiation. The observed.expression trend. were used.to select existing small-molecule d.ugs capable of mod.lating d.fferentiation efficiency. BRd.K98 was repurposed.to inhibit CM d.fferentiation, while iPSCs treated.with NSC-663284, carmofur, and.KPT-330 all exhibited.significant increases in not only CM marker expression but also spontaneous beating, suggesting improved.CM d.fferentiation. In ad.ition, quantitative polymerase chain reaction was performed.to d.termine the gene regulation responsible for mod.lating d.fferentiation efficiency. Multiple genes involved.in extracellular matrix remod.ling were correlated.with a CM d.fferentiation efficiency, while genes involved.in the cell cycle exhibited.contrasting expression trend. that warrant further stud.es. The results suggest that expression profiles d.termined.via short time-series expression miner analysis of nanod.t-cultured.iPSC d.fferentiation can not only reveal d.ugs capable of enhancing d.fferentiation efficiency but also highlight crucial sets of genes related.to processes such as extracellular matrix remod.ling and.the cell cycle that can be targeted.for further investigation. Our find.ngs confirm that the nanod.t platform can be used.to reveal complex mechanisms behind.iPSC d.fferentiation and.could.be an ind.spensable tool for optimizing iPSC technology for clinical applications. © 2024 The Authors.
