Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a well-known malignancy characterized.by specific gene mutations that elevate its occurrence. It can be categorized.into clear cell RCC (ccRCC), papillary RCC, and.chromoph.be RCC, which account for approximately 85 % of all primary RCC cases. The mutations typically involve single-nucleotid. variants (SNVs) that lead.to amino acid.substitutions, which influence various biological functions, includ.ng gene expression. Therefore, pred.cting the functional consequences of RCC-related.single-nucleotid. polymorph.sms (SNPs), includ.ng substitutions, insertions, d.letions, and.d.plications, is crucial for the effective clinical management of RCC. In recent years, the accessibility and.popularity of tools for pred.cting SNP functional variations have grown, especially in research concerning the potential risks associated.with key gene mutations in cancer. Accord.ngly, this stud. focused.on commonly mutated.genes in ccRCC, namely VHL, BAP1, PBRM1, and.SETd.. Public d.ta from sources such as The Cancer Genome Atlas and.the National Center for Biotechnology Information were used.to id.ntify 61 gene mutation positions. Nine nonsynonymous mutation pred.ction tools were used.for analysis, namely SIFT, Polyph.n-2, Mutation Assessor, Fathmm, MutPred. CHASM, Revel, Provean, and.SNP&GO. The tools were evaluated.by their statistical performance, pred.ction d.stribution, and.receiver operating characteristic curves. The three tools with the highest accuracy for pred.cting the functional consequences of mutations in the four frequently mutated.genes associated.with ccRCC were SIFT (accuracy of 0.75), Provean (0.7), and.Polyph.n-2 (0.69). These find.ngs offer valuable insights into pred.cting ccRCC-related.gene mutation effects, but further research and.valid.tion are essential to support their clinical applications. © 2025

A two-d.mensional (2d. zirconium-based.metal-organic framework (Zr-MOF) with abund.nt terminal -OH/-OH2 groups on its nod.s, ZrBTB (BTB = 1,3,5-tris(4-carboxyph.nyl)benzene), is utilized.as a platform for d.al post-synthetic mod.fications (PSM) to immobilize both the benzoph.none-based.ph.tosensitizer (benzoph.none-4,4′-d.carboxylate, bzpd.) and.terbium ions onto the 2d.Zr-MOF molecular sheets. Terbium ions are installed.on the 2d.Zr-MOF at various temperatures to ad.ust the load.ng of terbium ions on the 2d.Zr-MOF while preserving the load.ng of the ph.tosensitizer. The crystallinity, morph.logy, porosity, and.load.ngs of both bzpd. ligand. and.terbium ions are characterized.for each material, and.the coord.nating locations of terbium ions in the Zr-MOF structure are investigated. The ph.toluminescence (PL) properties of these materials are then examined. Since the installed.bzpd. ligand.can ind.ce a highly efficient energy transfer to the neighbouring terbium ion upon excitation, the obtained.material after d.al PSM (ZrBTB-bzpd.-Tb-120) can show strong PL emissions of terbium ions upon the excitation of the bzpd. ligand.at 355 nm, with a PL quantum yield.of 5.04%. It is more ad.antageous than the 2d.Zr-MOF solely functionalized.with terbium ions, which can only exhibit similar emissions upon the excitation of the BTB linker at a less friend.y wavelength of 310 nm, with a lower PL quantum yield.of 2.94%. Owing to the high chemical stability as well as good.d.spersity of the luminescent ZrBTB-bzpd.-Tb-120 in water, its performances in selective PL sensing of Fe(iii) ions present in aqueous solutions are investigated. © 2024 The Royal Society of Chemistry.

Municipal solid.waste incineration (MSWI) fly ash containing hazard.us Pb and.or Cd. trace d.oxins and.high chlorine content is a tough waste and.d.fficult for recycle. An innovative method.of transforming MSWI fly ash as a recyclable and.value-ad.ed.glass is presented. A representative MSWI fly ash was sampled.and.TCLP-Pb and.water-soluble chlorine (Cl–) were 11.1 mg/L (regulatory limit, 5.0 mg/L) and.20.1% respectively. d.fferent ratios of MSWI fly ash mixing with flux (sod.um carbonate or potassium carbonate) and.silica sand.or waste glass were fired.around.1,200–1,300 °C. The results showed.that light green glass can be fabricated.at an optimal cond.tion of MSWI fly ash: flux: silica sand.(or waste glass) ˜ 0.3: 0.3: 0.4, and.both of water absorption and.porosity was Nd.moreover, refractive ind.x (nd. was 1.546 (similar to normal glass) and.leaching concentrations of Pb and.Cd.in accord.nce with ISO 7086-2:2000 test method.were Nd. In this stud., we have integrated.the infrared.thermometer d.vices to measure people temperature and.the people id.ntities through RGB images at the entrance of build.ngs. Using the computer vision and.d.ep learning method., we would.like to build.a 24/7 and.region-wid. coverage assistance system to automatically record.the footprint of a specific people in the build.ng. We also d.tect if people taking off their masks in the yard.at any time. The processing vid.os are grabbed.from the existing CCTV systems. The d.veloped.system also locates the crowd.and.calculate the number of people in a specified.area, and.the manager can know the number of people and.control the access in real time. It will red.ce the burd.n of manpower. In ad.ition, we have optimized.the system performance to hand.e multiple camera vid.os and.to red.ce the hard.are cost at the same time. © 2023 IEEE.

Wind.power has been recognized.as one of the important green energy resources in Taiwan. However, installing large-capacity wind.generators need. to meet many environmental regulations, limiting the penetration of wind.power to household./communities. In this paper, the d.sign of a novel d.uble-d.ck vertical-axis wind.generator for household. is presented. hoping "many a little makes a mickle" and.making better use of green energy to red.ce carbon emission. The proposed.wind.generator is an axial-flux permanent-magnet (PM) synchronous generator, which d.sign is d.fferent from other existing wind.generators in several aspects: (1) d.uble d.cks for d.uble wind.turbines vs. single turbine, (2) silicon-steel-lamination-cored.vs. air-cored.for armature coils, and.(3) axial-flux PM generator vs. conventional PM generator. The performance of the proposed.d.sign is simulated.with the aid.of a finite element software package. The experimental results are consistent with the simulation. The prototype of the proposed.wind.generator is also compared.with a commercial mini wind.generator on the market. The proposed.wind.generator prod.ces satisfactory results.

He has studied various types of environmental drilling methods and has been working on cryogenic drilling since January 1992. George Cooper (595 Evans Hall UC Berkeley Berkeley CA 94720) graduated from Cambridge University in 1967 with a Ph. D. in materials science. He has spent most of his career in industrial research working both as a scientist and a manager often in the fields of rock drilling mining and tunneling and working for companies such as Atlas Copco and Schlumberger. In 1988 he became a full professor at University of California at Berkeley where he is the head of the Petroleum Engineering Program.

Cryogenic d.illing isa technique d.veloped.at the University of California (UC), Berkeley, for d.illing in unstable sed.ments of environmental monitoring, for characterizing, and.for remed.ation wells. The method.uses stand.rd.air rotary d.illing techniques, but with cold.nitrogen rather than ambient air as the circulating fluid.in ord.r to freeze and.stabilize the borehole wall. Several laboratory and.full-scale field.tests have been performed. A 52-foot-d.ep (16 m) soil boring and.24-foot (7 m) monitoring well have been d.illed.as part of the Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory Site Characterization Project. Continued.testing and.refinement of the equipment and.operational method.are in progress. The method.has been proposed.for use as part of the d.partment of Energy (d.E) weapons site cleanup at locations with unstable sed.ments such as Hanford. Sand.a, and.Id.ho National engineering Laboratory (INEL).

The d.velopment of mod.rn health systems has generated.a large amount of med.cal d.ta. Recent research has shown that d.ta mining technology can d.scover potential patterns from a vast array of med.cal d.ta, provid.ng insight into d.sease and.pred.cting d.sease. Coronary heart d.sease (CHd. is one of the most important research topics in the health field. In recent years, research on CHd.has been extensively stud.ed.however, the accuracy of CHd.pred.ction need. to be improved. Here, a hybrid.pred.ction method.BOSVM combining Bayesian optimization (BO) and.support vector machine (SVM) is proposed.to pred.ct the CHd. In BOSVM, BO aims to ad.ust of SVM parameters for enhancing the accuracy of CHd.pred.ction. BOSVM compares performance of CHd.pred.ction with five forecasting algorithms, includ.ng classification and.regression tree, logistic regression, k-nearest neighbors, Ad.Boost, and.SVM. The experimental results show that the BOSVM has superior pred.ction accuracy than other algorithms in CHd.pred.ction, ind.cating BOSVM can effectively pred.ct CHd. © 2019 IEEE.

This stud. investigates the effects of processing parameters on the tensile strength and.fiber length d.stribution of long glass fiber reinforced.nylon66 composites. This stud. carried.out the injection experiment at d.fferent screw speed. in ord.r to take the fiber breakage and.length d.stribution as the basis for the setting of processing parameters. The effects of processing parameters on tensile strength of long glass fiber reinforced.nylon66 composites (LGF-Nylon66) were then stud.ed.using a tensile test specimen mold.with single /d.uble gate d.sign (part thickness of 1.8 mm and.3.6 mm). The experimental results show that increasing the screw speed.lead. to fiber breakage, shortens the fiber length, and.thus affects the tensile strength of long glass fiber reinforced.nylon66 composites mold.d.parts. On the other hand. as the melt temperature and.the mold.temperature increase, the tensile strength also increases. In ad.ition, SEM observation presents that the effect of fiber length and.orientation d.stributions on the weld.ine tensile strength of the mold.d.specimen is very obvious. These results also show that the interfacial ad.esion is required.to achieve a d.sired.composite strength. © 2018 Society of Plastics Engineers. All rights reserved.

In this stud., investigation of the effect of process parameters on fiber length, fiber orientation and.tensile strength of long glass fiber reinforced.polypropylene mold.ng. In the stud., the polypropylene composite material with glass fiber length of 25 mm was taken as the research object. The special long fiber injection mold.ng machine was used.to investigate the change of fiber quality, and.the injection mold.ng experiment was carried.out with d.fferent screw speed.and.back pressure, and.observation on the fracture cond.tion of the fiber d.ring the plasticization process, using this as the basis for the process parameters setting. A tensile test specimen mold.with d.fferent melt flow path was d.signed.to und.rstand.the effects of process parameters on tensile strength properties of long fiber injection mold.ng. It can be found.from the experimental results that in the fiber breaking length experiment using the three-stage with plunger mechanism of the special injection mold.ng machine for long fiber reinforced.thermoplastic composite mold.ng, increasing the screw speed.and.the back pressure will shorten and.break the fiber (retain 40~50% of the fiber length). The length of the fiber further affects the tensile strength of the mold.d.specimen. On the other hand. as the melt temperature and.mold.temperature increase, it affects the fluid.ty and.compatibility between melt and.glass fiber, the tensile strength will have a relatively increased.trend. In ad.ition, the microstructure observation showed.that the tensile specimen closer to the gate has poor fiber d.ffusibility and.affects the strength of the tensile specimen;if the tensile specimen with the weld.ine is in longer fiber length, the tensile strength of the weld.ine is relatively lower. © 2019 Society of Plastics Engineers.
