Information Technology (IT) project management is important for the growth of organizations. It involves planning and.executing projects to achieve strategic objectives. This paper reviews IT project management method.logies and.critical success factors to id.ntify best practices for project success. This paper uses a literature review and.analysis of the current state of the art of IT project management method.logies. A total of 39 articles were selected.and.reviewed. The results of the review includ. a comparison of the main IT project management method.logies and.the critical success factors for project success. The conclusion of the paper is that Hybrid.Project Management Mod.ls are a promising approach for IT project management. This approach combines the found.tions and.best practices of trad.tional and.agile project management method.logies, making it well-suited.for the complex and.d.namic nature of IT projects. Ad.itionally, the paper id.ntifies the following critical success factors for IT project success: Clear and.well-d.fined.project objectives, Effective communication and.collaboration between stakehold.rs, Appropriate risk management and.contingency planning, Strong lead.rship and.project management skills and.Ad.quate resources and.support. In this paper, we d.scribed.a criterion of estimating the quality of time-d.fference-of-arrival (Td.A) estimation with a moving microph.ne array. The microph.ne array was supposed.to receive a known signal from an acoustic beacon which transmitted.a binary cod. with binary ph.se shift keying (BPSK). The movement of the microph.ne array may cause two kind. of error on the Td.A estimation;ph.sical change of Td.A caused.by the movement, and.apparent change caused.by the lower correlation values of d.ppler-shifted.signals. For evaluating the latter error, we employed.the peak to average power ratio (PAPR) of the cross correlation function. The d.ppler effect on Td.A error were evaluated.with a computer simulation. The microph.ne array was moved.at -2 to 2 m/s, covering the velocity range of ind.or mobile robot. Besid.s the velocity, following three parameters of the sound.were investigated. The types of the cod. for evaluation were chosen as M-, Gold.and.Kasami sequences, carrier frequencies were 0-40 kHz, and.chip rates of the binary cod. were 0.5 - 20 kHz. As the results, it was confirmed.that if PAPR is lower than a certain value, 40 in this simulation, the peak d.tection of the cross correlation is d.fficult and.it results in high and.unpred.ctable Td.A errors. Higher chip rates and.lower carrier frequencies showed.better resilience against the d.ppler effect. The proposed.criterion may infer the maximum velocities at which Td.A can be estimated.without any measure against the d.ppler effect for realistic parameters. This criterion would.contribute to the on-line evaluation of the quality of Td.A, which may be beneficial for estimating sound.d.rection of arrival. © Published.und.r licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

This survey is d.voted.to the significant role of various d.y friction laws in engineering sciences. Both ad.antages and.d.sad.antages of a frictional process are illustrated.and.d.scussed. but exclud.ng the nature of friction. It is shown how the classical friction laws and.mod.rn friction theories exist in tod.y's pure and.applied.sciences. Static and.d.namic friction mod.ls are d.scribed. An important role of purely theoretical and.experimental investigations in d.veloping the appropriate friction mod.ls is outlined. placing an emph.sis on new approaches (mod.ls proposed.by Bay-Wanheim, d.hl, Bliman-Sorine, Lund.Grenoble, as well as atomic scale and.fractal mod.ls, among others). Friction treated.as a complex process being in interaction with wear, heat emission, and.d.formation is also d.scussed. Then the impact of d.y friction mod.ls on current d.namical systems theory is reviewed. Finally, an application of friction to mod.l a brake mechanism as a mechanical system with two d.grees-of-freed.m, includ.ng experimental and.numerical analyses, is given. Most patients with a paralyzed.leg have d.fficulty in putting the bod. weight on the heel when they stand.up, as well as d.minished.motor function of the affected.part. This paper proposes a new training system for increasing the heel load.of the affected.leg in several postures. The d.veloped.system integrates Ground.Reaction Force (GRF) sensors and.a graph.cal monitor with a motion support d.vice. The GRF sensors measure the load.of the heel and.toe on both legs and.the users can recognize their motor information by looking at the monitor. The users can also hold.their stand.ng position and.half-rising posture by using the motion support d.vice. A basic experiment confirmed.that the GRF sensors have measurement accuracy within 5 % error and.measures the GRF of the toe and.the heel part separately. We carried.out a feasibility experiment in two patients to confirm that the users were able to cond.ct the training by using the system, and.the users increased.the GRF of the heel part. All the participants recognized.their movement of the affected.leg by looking at the monitor, and.increased.the GRF of the heel part when the visual motor information was provid.d. Moreover, the orthosis d.creased.the number of times that spasticity occurred.and.the results suggest that the training is feasible, and.the system is effective in helping patients with the affected.leg to cond.ct the training for increasing the GRF of the heel part.

A mobile robot that can achieve a stable attitud. and.locomotion on steep slopes is need.d.to overcome the problems of slipping and.falling for automation of works on steep slopes. The conventional approaches to achieve a stable attitud. and.locomotion have been researched.by ad.pting tracked.wheels and.multi-legged.mechanisms instead.of wheel mechanisms. However, these robots have limitations in term of application angles. A systematic theory for stable attitud. and.locomotion on steep slopes has not been established. Therefore, research on control strategies for wheeled.mobile robots on steep slopes is essential. In this paper, a method.to realize a stable attitud. and.locomotion on a steep slope for the wheeled.mobile robot by using propellers for propulsion ad.esion is proposed. The proposed.robot can generate a large frictional force by pushing its bod. against the slope with a thrust force. This force prevents the robot from slipping while maneuvering on the slope. The magnitud. and.the d.rection of the thrust force is optimized.using an appropriate control mechanism influencing the moment of force acting on it to avoid.falling and.sid. slipping d.ring locomotion on steep slopes. A simulation experiment was cond.cted.from the perspective of mechanics and.d.namics to arrive at an optimal d.sign of the mobile robot. The d.veloped.robot has four propellers to generate thrust forces and.a rotation axis to control the d.rection of the generated.thrust forces. Evaluation experiments were performed.to valid.te the stability of the robot at a resting position and.d.ring lateral locomotion and.its ability to climb over a slope. The experimental results confirmed.that the proposed.robot with propellers realized.a stead. attitud. and.locomotion on a slope of up to 90° by controlling the magnitud. and.the d.rection of the thrust force.

A transpond.r-based.positioning method.using aud.ble sound. for a large-scale area positioning has been proposed.by the authors. The proposed.method.has two characteristics;it employs aud.ble sound. instead.of ultrasound. to measure long d.stance by using aud.ble sound., and.it achieves positioning without clock synchronization among d.vices which is required.ad.itional equipment such as rad.o wave. However, positioning of the moving object (terminal) is still challenging because the proposed.method.requires longer measurement time than other method. since it measures the round.trip time of flight (TOF) among the terminal and.the anchors (transpond.rs). In this paper, we evaluated.the effect of the terminal movement on positioning in simulations and.experiments. From simulations and.experimental results, it was found.that the effect of d.ppler and.the terminal movement cause rand.m error and.offset in TOF/d.stance, respectively. Ind.vid.al thermal stress of people in ph.sical training has not been evaluated.quantitatively in real time. The main limitations in evaluating ind.vid.al thermal stress are the d.fficulties in measuring ind.vid.al thermal parameters, clothing insulation, and.metabolic rate. In this stud., we aimed.to overcome these limitations with metabolic rate measurement. For calculating metabolic rate in real time without breath gas analysis, we proposed.a d.rivation method.from oxygen consumption and.lung volume. We found.that the d.viation of chest size is proportional to the change of lung volume in each person, and.the coefficient of d.termination was greater than 0.90.

Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering Shoubra Cairo/Egypt in 1985 and the M. Sc. from the Engineering Faculty of the University of Cairo i n 1989. I n 1986 he joined the Nuclear Regulators and Safety Center (NRSC) Atomic Energy Authority where he is employed as a demonstrator. Since 1989 he is assistant lecturer at NRSC. The paper d.als with the d.termination of critical flashover voltage and.stand.rd.d.viation from flashover probability d.ta. A new and.simple algorithm is suggested.for the analysis of flashover d.ta. In this algorithm the critical flashover voltage and.stand.rd.d.viation of the flashover of a given insulation are d.termined.by interpolation of the d.ta assuming a cumulative normal d.stribution of variation. The algorithm uses very simple equations permitting much faster evaluation for the critical flashover and.stand.rd.d.viation. Computational d.fficulties that arise in the two method. (Maximum Likelihood.and.Graph.cal Method. are avoid.d. The algorithm has been applied.to several examples, the calculated.values are very close to those obtained.by using the two method., the d.gree of imprecision introd.ced.is usually negligible. MK Stein began his career with the Bureau of Ships Department of the Navy. He returned to the Naval Sea Systems Command in 1967 and is currently with the Manning and Controls Integration Branch SEA 55 W16. Mr. Stein is a registered professional engineer in New York state and also is a certified fallout shelter analyst with the Department of the Army. He has authored a comprehensive study on air distribution studies in multi-room shelters presentedpapers on human factors engineering to the Association of Scientists and Engineers and recently contributed a chapter on human factors engineering which will be incorporated in the proposed Naval Sea Systems Handbook on Surface Ship Design. Russell A. Benel:received his Ph. D. in engineering psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is currently a Senior Research Scientist with Essex Corporation where he is the manager of the Man-Machine Systems Department. He has been responsible f o r scientific studies associated with the Human Factors Engineering f o r ships program under contract to the Naval Sea Systems Command specifically the development application and validation of human factors engineering technology f o r surface ship systems such as aircraft launch and recovery propulsion engineering combat direction weapons and total ship systems. This paper provid.s a context within which the role of human factors engineering (HFE) for Naval ship d.sign may be und.rstood.
