This paper proposes a fitness movement evaluation system using deep learning. The system uses a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) to extract features from pictures of fitness movements. The features are then used to classify the movements into different categories. The system is evaluated on a dataset of pictures of fitness movements. The results show that the system can accurately classify the movements into different categories. The system is designed to provide feedback to users on their fitness movements. The proposed system is a valuable tool for fitness enthusiasts. The main contribution of this paper is to propose a way to give users a score for their fitness movement. It can help users improve their fitness and track their progress over time. The system is also a valuable tool for fitness professionals. People increasingly prioritize a balanced diet to enhance well-being, yet making informed dietary choices remains challenging amidst the abundance of options. To address this, we developed a meal image recognition and healthy meal combination recommender system, integrating generative artificial intelligence (AI). Convolutional neural networks were used for precise meal image recognition to identify diverse food items. The generative AI-augmented recommendation engine offers personalized meal suggestions aligned with nutritional goals and dietary preferences, utilizing a nutrition knowledge base to ensure overall well-being. The system's feasibility was validated, illustrating its excellence in meal recognition accuracy, recommendation diversity, and user engagement. By integrating generative AI, the system shows its potential to enhance dietary recommendations and public health.

In this study, a series of Al complexes bearing amidates, thioamidates, ureidates, and thioureidates were synthesized and their catalytic activity for ϵ-caprolactone (CL) polymerization was evaluated. SPr-Al exhibited a higher catalytic activity than OPr-Al (3.2 times as high for CL polymerization;[CL] : [SPr-Al] : [BnOH] = 100 : 0.5 : 2;[SPr-Al] = 10 mM, conv. = 93% after 14 min at 25 °C), and USCl-Al exhibited a higher catalytic activity than UCl-Al (4.6 times as high for CL polymerization;[CL] : [USCl-Al] : [BnOH] = 100 : 0.5 : 2;[USCl-Al] = 10 mM, conv. = 90% after 15 min at 25 °C). Regardless of whether aluminum amidates or ureidates were present, thioligands improved the polymerization rate of aluminum catalysts. density functional theory calculations revealed that the eight-membered ring [SPr-AlOMe2]2 decomposed into the four-membered ring SPr-AlOMe2. However, [OPr-AlOMe2]2 did not decompose because of its strong bridging Al-O bond. The overall activation energy required for CL polymerization was lower when using [SPr-AlOMe2]2 (18.1 kcal mol−1) as a catalyst than when using [OPr-AlOMe2]2 (23.9 kcal mol−1). This is because the TS2a transition state of SPr-AlOMe2 had a more open coordination geometry with a small N-Al-S angle (72.91°) than did TS3c of [OPr-AlOMe2]2, the crowded highest-energy transition state of [OPr-AlOMe2]2 with a larger N-Al-O angle (99.63°). © 2023 The Royal Society of Chemistry.

This article introduces a novel approach to the classification of categorical time series under the supervised learning paradigm. To construct meaningful features for categorical time series classification, we consider two relevant quantities: the spectral envelope and its corresponding set of optimal scalings. These quantities characterize oscillatory patterns in a categorical time series as the largest possible power at each frequency, or spectral envelope, obtained by assigning numerical values, or scalings, to categories that optimally emphasize oscillations at each frequency. Our procedure combines these two quantities to produce an interpretable and parsimonious feature-based classifier that can be used to accurately determine group membership for categorical time series. Classification consistency of the proposed method is investigated, and simulation studies are used to demonstrate accuracy in classifying categorical time series with various underlying group structures. Finally, we use the proposed method to explore key differences in oscillatory patterns of sleep stage time series for patients with different sleep disorders and accurately classify patients accordingly.

In this article, we present an innovative approach to enhance the online shoe shopping experience. The convolutional neural network (CNN) image recognition technology was used to enhance shoe classification and recommendations. By training the CNN model on an extensive dataset, unique shoe features and styles were learned. Integrated into a user-friendly online platform, the system offers real-time image recognition, allowing users to snap a photo of a desired shoe for instant identification, including brand, price, and availability details. Moreover, the CNN-based recommendation engine provides personalized suggestions based on style, color, and customer preferences, enriching the shopping experience. Evaluation results confirmed the system's feasibility, and user feedback highlighted its effectiveness in simplifying the shopping process and enhancing satisfaction. This innovative system presents a significant leap in merging AI and e-commerce and shows the potential of image recognition to transform online marketplaces, benefiting consumers, offering valuable insights for retailers, and ultimately reshaping the future of online shoe shopping.

The fusion of technology and culinary exploration has allowed for the emergence of advanced online customer service systems. We developed a novel approach to enhance the dining experience. We used a Cuisine Image Recognition and Recommender System (CIRRS) powered by Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to identify and suggest diverse cuisines based on visual inputs. CIRRS swiftly identified diverse cuisines from user-captured images, offering information on origin, ingredients, and variations by crawling websites. The system enhanced dining experiences by suggesting personalized menus based on individual preferences and past selections. Extensively tested across various culinary genres, CIRRS consistently demonstrated accuracy and adaptability. User feedback validated its potential to simplify dining choices and elevate satisfaction. This innovative system enriched dining experiences as a valuable tool for culinary enthusiasts, chefs, and restaurateurs, bridging the gap between technology and gastronomy, It also offers a unique way to explore Taiwanese cuisines.

Association of long-term ozone exposure with the incidence and progression of hypertension, diabetes, and chronic kidney disease: A national retrospective cohort study

Evidence suggests that ozone is associated with an increased risk of hypertension, diabetes, or chronic kidney disease (CKd). However, the associations of ozone exposure with the dynamic progression of these diseases among Asian population remain unknown. This study included 9,256,945 participants from Taiwan's National Health Insurance Research database between 2006 and 2021. Multimorbidity was defined as the coexistence of CKd and either hypertension or diabetes. The ordinary kriging method was used to estimate daily concentrations of ozone, sulfur dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, suspended fine particles, and suspended particles. Then, five-year average concentrations of pollutants were calculated. We performed multi-state survival models to analyze the association between ozone and dynamic progression of these diseases. during follow-up, 3,555,498 participants experienced hypertension, diabetes, or CKd;656,515 experienced multimorbidity;and 792,555 died. Ozone exposure was significantly associated with incidence of the results in all transitions. The hazard ratios of each IQR (3.57 ppb) increment in ozone for the transition to incident disease were 1.016 [95 % confidence interval (CI): 1.014, 1.017], for the transition to death were 1.04 [95 % CI: 1.036, 1.043], for the transition to multimorbidity were 1.015 [95 % CI: 1.012, 1.017]. Furthermore, with each IQR increase of ozone, the hazard ratios for transition from the disease incidence to death and from multimorbidity to death were 1.03 [95 % CI: 1.026, 1.033] and 1.007 [95 % CI: 1.002, 1.013], respectively. Our results suggest long-term exposure to ozone might be an important determinant for the incidence and dynamic progression of hypertension, diabetes, and CKd in Taiwan. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

Aim: To investigate the occurrence of auditory impairments in individuals with dysphonia and to describe the results of behavioral and electrophysiological audiological assessments in this population. Study design: A scoping review. Method: A scoping review following the guidelines of the Joanna Briggs Institute Manual for Evidence Synthesis for Scoping Reviews and PRISMA-ScR. A search was carried out using the electronic databases PubMed, Scielo, and Lilacs, as well as the gray literature via Google Scholar. Using the Rayyan platform, the selection and extraction of data from the studies was carried out independently and blindly by two reviewers, with excellent agreement. The studies included in the review were subjected to extraction of the following information for analysis: authors, year of publication, objective, sample characteristics, dysphonia classification, audiological assessment procedure, and conclusion. Results: About 100 studies were found, and 13 eligible studies were included in the analysis. Of the studies included, 92.3% (n = 12) adopted cross-sectional designs, 76.9% (n = 10) investigated auditory functions in individuals with behavioral dysphonia, and 23.1% (n = 3) with organic dysphonia. The samples consisted of children in 53.8% (n = 7) of the studies and adults in 46.2% (n = 6), both with dysphonia. Around 53.80% (n = 7) of the studies included control groups without dysphonia. As for audiological assessment methods, 53.8% (n = 7) used behavioral tests of central auditory processing, 15.4% (n = 2) electrophysiological assessment, and 30.8% (n = 4) a combination of both. Conclusion–: Individuals with dysphonia, especially of the behavioral type, may have deficits in auditory function. The main impairments refer to central auditory processing, especially in skills involving temporal processing, figure-ground skills, and auditory closure. In our study, β-Ga2O3 particles of various morphologies deposited on FTO glass substrates through hydrothermal method under different ph conditions and pre-stirring temperatures. The particles examined using XRd, FESEM, FTIR and Raman spectroscopy instruments. The results showed that the β-Ga2O3 microrods prepared with ph=3.15 solution at different pre-stirring temperatures followed by hydrothermal reaction had several crystalline orientations ([−401], [002], [403]). The FTIR and Raman spectra measurements confirmed the existence of Ga−O−Ga and Ga−OH bending modes. In the range of ph=3-11, the EGFET-ph sensor prepared with β-Ga2O3 microrods shown a high current-ph sensitivity of 0.541 (mA)1/2 /ph with a linearity of 97.83 % and a high voltage-ph sensitivity of 73.99 mV/ph with linearity of 96.85 %. These results suggest that β-Ga2O3 microrods have ph sensitivity higher than the ideal Nernstian response. This confirms the use of β-Ga2O3 microrods as a sensing membrane in high-performance ph sensors or biosensors. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this work, hydrothermal (HT)-synthesized gallium oxide (Ga2O3) nanorods were applied on indium tin oxide (ITO) glass substrates to create a dual-functional ph-glucose sensing device. Extended-gate field-effect transistors (EGFETs) were designed for ph and glucose sensing, and the response to ph levels ranging from 1 to 11 was tested using both chemical bath deposition (CBd) and high-pressure hydrothermal methods. Two sensor configurations, Ga2O3(CBd)/ITO/glass and Ga2O3(HT)/ITO/glass, were immersed in solution ph1 to 11 and cultured medium for hydrogen ion and glucose sensing. The results demonstrated that, for ph sensing in different samples, both IdS-VdS analysis and IdS-VGS analysis showed superior linearity and sensitivity with the HT method. For glucose detection, the HT method was selected for further experiments due to its maintained concentration-dependent relationship and selectivity towards various common sugars. When using culture medium dMEM as the sample (4.5 mg/ml glucose concentration), the accuracy of glucose estimation reached 99%. Stability and biocompatibility tests were also conducted, and the results indicated consistent performance. In summary, the HT-synthesized Ga2O3 nanorods exhibited high sensitivity, selectivity, and stability without affecting cell growth. Therefore, they hold great potential for applications not only in general blood glucose sensing but also in studying cell microenvironment metabolism. © 2023 Elsevier B.V.
