Two-phase cost-sensitive-learning-based framework on customer-side quality inspection for TFT-LCd industry

The Covid-19 outbreak in 2020 boosted the stay-at-home economy, causing a surge in electronics industry demand, especially benefiting the LCd panel sector. However, as the pandemic situation improved, countries revised policies, leading to the gradual discontinuation of remote work arrangements in various industries. This resulted in declining dividends for the stay-at-home economy. The decreased demand created intense competition within the TFT-LCd industry, urging panel companies to prioritize product quality enhancement to meet customer expectations. Panel quality inspection heavily relied on manual labor, causing varying inspection levels due to subjective judgments. Understanding and aligning with customer expectations regarding product quality inspections became imperative. Identifying defective products during inspection led to additional costs for the companies. Balancing customer product quality requirements and re-inspection costs became crucial for optimal benefits. This study addresses the binary classification problem of customer-side quality inspection through cost-sensitive learning. The predictive model considers panel process yield, production history, customer feedback, inspection capacity constraints, and cost minimization to predict panel quality as accepted or defective. To tackle the highly imbalanced data, a two-phase cost-sensitive-learning-based framework is proposed, combining data preprocessing methods and models, while considering re-inspection capacity constraints and costs to enhance accuracy. The model’s evaluation uses key performance indicators like AUC and G-mean. Actual inspection cost and defective parts per million (dPPM) are calculated based on the company’s practical assessment. In this research, the gas-sensing behaviors particularly selectivity toward H2S against various gaseous disease markers in exhaled breath of flame-produced SnO2 nanoparticles augmented with 0–3 wt% Cu were extensively investigated. Structural and chemical characterization results revealed 0.3–0.8 nm CuOx sub-nanoparticles with Cu+ and Cu2+ states embedded on 5–20 nm cassiterite SnO2 nanoparticles. From gas-sensing measurements, the best Cu amount of 2 wt% provided an outstanding response of ∼1.56 × 105 with a decent response time of 8 s to 10 ppm H2S at the most suitable sensing temperature of 200 °C. Also, the most effective CuOx-doped SnO2 sensor offered a very low limit of H2S detection (LOds) of 0.012 ppm (12 ppb) and high H2S selectivity against several gaseous disease markers, including H2, CH4, C2H6, C5H8, CO, NO, NH3, CH3OH, C2H5OH, C3H7OH, C3H6O, (CH3)2S, CH3SH, CH3COOH, C2H5COOH, and C3H7COOH. Moreover, the CuOx-doped SnO2 sensors showed high response and excellent long-term stability. Furthermore, the CuOx-doped SnO2 sensors exhibited modestly low H2S response decline at 80%RH and 200°C. Therefore, the flame-produced 2 wt% CuOx-doped SnO2 nanomaterial would be highly attractive for ultrasensitive and selective H2S detections in biomedical applications especially exhaled breath analysis of gastrointestinal diseases. © 2024, The Authors. Rectifier plays a pivotal role in wireless power transfer systems. While numerous studies have concentrated on enhancing efficiency and bandwidth at specific high-power levels, practical scenarios often involve unpredictable power inputs. Consequently, a distinct need arises for a rectifier that demonstrates superior efficiency across a broad range of input power levels. This paper introduces a high-power RF-to-dC rectifier designed for WPT applications, featuring an ultrawide dynamic range of input power. The rectification process leverages a GaN (gallium nitride) high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) to efficiently handle high power levels up to 12.6 W. The matching circuit was designed to ensure that the rectifier will operate in class-F mode. A Schottky diode is incorporated into the design for relatively lower-power rectification. Seamless switching between the rectification modes of the two circuits is accomplished through the integration of a circulator. The proposed rectifier exhibits a 27.5 dB dynamic range, achieving an efficiency exceeding 55% at 2.4 GHz. Substantial improvement in power handling and dynamic range over traditional rectifiers is demonstrated. © 2024 by the authors.

Augmented reality (AR) is a technology that instantly merges digital pictures with the real scene. The perspective near-eye display is a key module of AR, through which computer-generated pictures or videos can be displayed in the existing environment. The purpose of this research is to establish the system structure of an augmented reality near-eye display device and to design the off-axis two-piece reflective aspherical mirror. Because AR glasses are wearable and are worn close to the eyes, not only the optical performance of the display but also the clear vision of the user needs to be considered. In this study, an off-axis two-piece reflective aspherical mirror is used as the optical system of the AR for displaying the digital image. The micro-display is placed at the focal point of the optical system to form a digital image, and the horizontal movement of the micro-display along the optical axis is controlled by a precise displacement mechanism so that the patient with uncorrected myopia or hyperopia can see the digital picture and real scene. Because the right and left micro-displays move horizontally independently, the user can see the images on the AR device, which becomes the biggest feature of this study. © 2023 IEEE.

In Eswatini, 62.3% of households still rely on solid fuel for cooking, especially wood (61.8%). Smoke emissions during biomass burning remain the primary source of indoor air pollution, comprising pollutants detrimental to health. This study provides a quantitative exposure assessment of fuels used in the Shiselweni region with the objectives of monitoring the carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2) concentrations during cooking events and evaluating cancer and noncancer risks due to exposure to particulate-bound polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) during cooking events among cooking personnel in households that cook indoors by burning biomass. Real-time CO, CO2, and particulate matter (PM) monitoring was performed in seventeen kitchens during cooking events across the Shiselweni region using different cooking methods: biomass in open fires and stoves, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and electric stoves. PM2.5, PM10, and CO exceeded indoor exposure guidelines for biomass fuel-related homesteads. Particulate PAH intake concentrations were evaluated, and biomass fuel users exhibited high cancer risks and low embryo survival chances due to particulate PAH exposure. The average total cost of reducing the incremental lifetime cancer risk (ILCR) and hazard quotient (HQ) to acceptable levels was lower when shifting from biomass to LPG stoves than when shifting to electric stoves. The user authentication scheme of the multi-server architecture is mainly that the user only needs to register once to access many distributed servers. This architecture solves the problem of repeated multiple registrations in many servers and can provide a scalable solution. Recently, Zhang et al. proposed a secure, robust remote user authentication scheme for multi-servers using elliptic curve cryptography. However, their proposed scheme can solve many severe flaws and authenticate messages while keeping users anonymous. However, we will show that their scheme couldn’t withstand online password-guessing with a user’s smart card attack and a denial of service attack. This article proposes improving user authentication protocol against these vulnerabilities in Zhang et al.’s protocol. © (2024) All rights reserved.

Text classification is a fundamental aspect of Natural Language Processing (NLP). This research presents a novel human-annotated English sentence dataset categorized into four classes (simple, complex, compound, complex-compound) containing 22331 sentences and a sophisticated sentence classifier tool offering the capability to analyze and classify sentences within English text with particular relevance to literature writing. This study explores its performance using three distinct feature representation methods: Bag-of-Words (BoW), Term Frequency-Inverse document Frequency (TF-IdF), and Word Embedding Features. The study involves the evaluation of four machine learning and two deep learning classifier models. BoW combined with Support Vector Classifier (SVC) and Logistic Regression (LR) demonstrated impressive accuracy rates, excelling in distinguishing sentence complexity. Word Embedding Features, specifically LSTM and RNN, offer a more profound semantic representation. LSTM stands out with the highest accuracy of 98.03% and balanced precision and recall, yielding an average F1-score of 97%. RNN, slightly less accurate at 97.75%, nevertheless exhibits competence in grasping sentence structure dependencies. It offers valuable insights for practical applications and contributes to the broader understanding of sentence structures and semantics.

Huntington's disease (Hd) is a hereditary neurodegenerative disorder characterized by involuntary movements, cognitive deficits, and psychiatric symptoms. Currently, there is no cure, and only limited treatments are available to manage the symptoms and to slow down the disease's progression. The molecular and cellular mechanisms of Hd's pathogenesis are complex, involving immune cell activation, altered protein turnover, and disturbance in brain energy homeostasis. Microglia have been known to play a dual role in Hd, contributing to neurodegeneration through inflammation but also enacting neuroprotective effects by clearing mHTT aggregates. However, little is known about the contribution of microglial metabolism to Hd progression. This study explores the impact of a microglial metabolite transporter, equilibrative nucleoside transporter 3 (ENT3), in Hd. Known as a lysosomal membrane transporter protein, ENT3 is highly enriched in microglia, with its expression correlated with Hd severity. Using the R6/2 ENT3^−/− mouse model, we found that the deletion of ENT3 increases microglia numbers yet worsens Hd progression, leading to mHTT accumulation, cell death, and disturbed energy metabolism. These results suggest that the delicate balance between microglial metabolism and function is crucial for maintaining brain homeostasis and that ENT3 has a protective role in ameliorating neurodegenerative processes. © 2024 The Authors

In our study, β-Ga2O3 particles of various morphologies deposited on FTO glass substrates through hydrothermal method under different ph conditions and pre-stirring temperatures. The particles examined using XRd, FESEM, FTIR and Raman spectroscopy instruments. The results showed that the β-Ga2O3 microrods prepared with ph=3.15 solution at different pre-stirring temperatures followed by hydrothermal reaction had several crystalline orientations ([−401], [002], [403]). The FTIR and Raman spectra measurements confirmed the existence of Ga−O−Ga and Ga−OH bending modes. In the range of ph=3-11, the EGFET-ph sensor prepared with β-Ga2O3 microrods shown a high current-ph sensitivity of 0.541 (mA)1/2 /ph with a linearity of 97.83 % and a high voltage-ph sensitivity of 73.99 mV/ph with linearity of 96.85 %. These results suggest that β-Ga2O3 microrods have ph sensitivity higher than the ideal Nernstian response. This confirms the use of β-Ga2O3 microrods as a sensing membrane in high-performance ph sensors or biosensors. © 2023, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In this study, a series of Al complexes bearing amidates, thioamidates, ureidates, and thioureidates were synthesized and their catalytic activity for ϵ-caprolactone (CL) polymerization was evaluated. SPr-Al exhibited a higher catalytic activity than OPr-Al (3.2 times as high for CL polymerization;[CL] : [SPr-Al] : [BnOH] = 100 : 0.5 : 2;[SPr-Al] = 10 mM, conv. = 93% after 14 min at 25 °C), and USCl-Al exhibited a higher catalytic activity than UCl-Al (4.6 times as high for CL polymerization;[CL] : [USCl-Al] : [BnOH] = 100 : 0.5 : 2;[USCl-Al] = 10 mM, conv. = 90% after 15 min at 25 °C). Regardless of whether aluminum amidates or ureidates were present, thioligands improved the polymerization rate of aluminum catalysts. density functional theory calculations revealed that the eight-membered ring [SPr-AlOMe2]2 decomposed into the four-membered ring SPr-AlOMe2. However, [OPr-AlOMe2]2 did not decompose because of its strong bridging Al-O bond. The overall activation energy required for CL polymerization was lower when using [SPr-AlOMe2]2 (18.1 kcal mol−1) as a catalyst than when using [OPr-AlOMe2]2 (23.9 kcal mol−1). This is because the TS2a transition state of SPr-AlOMe2 had a more open coordination geometry with a small N-Al-S angle (72.91°) than did TS3c of [OPr-AlOMe2]2, the crowded highest-energy transition state of [OPr-AlOMe2]2 with a larger N-Al-O angle (99.63°). © 2023 The Royal Society of Chemistry.
