This paper develops a motor-driven massage artificial electro-mechanical manipulator system with intelligent biomedical sensing-monitoring capabilities and constructs the path of massage process by using CCd image processing technique. In this paper, we integrate a versatile inter-digital electrocardiograph (ECG) into the manipulator system and construct a massage path by using twin CCd image processing technique with inverse engineering method. So, this electromechanical manipulator can automatically do the full massage process including pushing, pick-up and kneading actions to get the best therapy effect. By capturing the variant signals of the cardiovascular physiological parameters from the versatile inter-digital electrocardiograph, we can understand and analyze the physiological reaction due to the massage action and then try further to improve the therapy effect of massage. In the meantime, we have imitated a real human's palm with finger's action to design a human-like mechanical palm and accomplished the actions of massage including "pushing, picking-up, and kneading", the most decisive technique is lying on the design of the fingers. ©2010 IEEE.

The paper employed some independently developed sensors based on the Octopus X platform to build a Zigbee-based Sensor Networks. Also, we implemented a Location-aware living environment by deploying the developed Zigee-based sensor. Besides, through the created window console interface, the sensed data can be transmitted and transformed to the database for further utilized. Moreover, by the devised Web interface, the update request data can be observed efficiently and responded effectively to any situations. © 2010 IEEE.

For the continuous infinite horizon time-invariant linear quadratic regulator problem (LQR), in the paper, the optimal state feedback controller based on the estimated state of the observer can be decoupled by the proposed approach which resulting one continuous time algebraic Riccati equation (CARE) for the controller design and one matrix equality equation (MEE) for the observer design. A coupling term related the CARE of the controller is found to be existed in the MEE of the observer. Unlike the separate principle to design the controller and observer separately without any coupling term, the design of the observer should consider the coupling term related to the CARE of the controller. The coupling problem between the controller and the observer usually exists in the linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach, and it is the main problem to be solved. The two-stage scheme is popular in the LMI approach, and the proposed method is similar to it, but adopting equality instead of inequality. © 2010 IEEE.

In this paper, a novel on-panel display gate driver is designed not only reducing the fluctuation noise of the output signal, but also diminishing the voltage stress effect of the dual pull-down transistors. This circuit consists of dual pull-down, anti-fluctuating, flash pull-down transistor and low driving voltage design. The degradation of threshold voltage of pull-down transistors is retarded because the control voltage of pull-down transistors is decreased in our design. The gate driver was simulated by the Smart-SPICE level-35 for the α-Si TFT process model.

In the field of applied computer vision, the three-dimensional (3d) object recognition is a very important technique which can be used to determine objects from a certain direction of the image for arbitrary 3d objects. These skills are useful in military applications, such as moving target recognition and coastal surveillance. Computer vision recognition allows fast response and all day long reconnaissance. The purpose of establishing a ship recognition system is to research and develop effective ship contour capture in the natural sea environment. We can develop a ship recognition system that is reliable and fast based on a database of ship images. We propose a recognition algorithm for ship images. This system utilizes gradient vector flow to capture the ship image contour first and calculates the geometric eigenvalue using this contour and Fourier descriptor. The eigenvalues are used to perform separate rough and detailed recognition. A graphic user interface is developed and the validity of the proposed technique is demonstrated using identifying images. ©ICROS.

Core-shell CdSe-ZnS quantum dots have been one of the most actively researched nanomaterials in the past decade. In this paper we introduce thiophene thiol (TPT) as a capping ligand on the CdSe-ZnS heterostructure. These conjugated ligands allow for improved carrier transport in comparison to their saturated, long chain hydrocarbon counterparts. By demonstrating a robust and inexpensive method to deposit close packed monolayers of these nanostructures, we hope to open the door for a new family of low cost inorganic devices employing them.

A novel solar microsensor with microelectromechanical system (MEMS)-based packaging for improving solar tracking efficiency was proposed and a functional solar power sensing array was also developed. Solar energy as a renewable energy source in the world is the most important issue. The microsensor with different shapes of masks as light inlet was fabricated on silicon wafers to provide variable attenuation effect of the sunlight. To detect light incident elevation and azimuth accurately, a circuit module for a maximum power tracking system is developed conducting the automatic tracking function by feedback control technique. The best angle related sensitivity for the microsensors covered with inside-shrunk and inside-extended windows are 128.6 Ω/degree and 150.2 Ω/degree, respectively. The collimated process of the incident solar power by developed solar microsensor keeps maximum solar energy collection with the best long-term efficiency in photovoltaic energy conversion. The microsensor to sense collimated solar intensity is designed to promote solar energy collection efficiency and an intelligent bi-axes dynamic solar tracking device will develop in the future.
