Innovation is essential in the construction industry, but current practices often focus narrowly on specific aspects rather than taking a comprehensive approach. To address this, systematic innovation through business model innovation (BMI) is proposed to enhance overall performance. despite increasing interest in BMI research, it remains in its early stages, lacking quantitative analysis of its impact on business model components. This paper develops a framework using system dynamics to assess changes to a construction company’s BM when faced with a variety of innovations across various projects. This shall be accomplished by (1) establishing factors and their relationships that define a contractor’s BM over time, (2) modeling the said factors using AnyLogic using synthetic data, and (3) evaluating the emergent behavior of BM’s value creation. The study found that the impact of innovation on a contractor’s long-term value creation is not linear; it varies based on when and what type of innovation is implemented. This complexity arises from the trade-offs between cost reductions and additional expenses associated with innovation. The paper introduces a comprehensive framework to assess how innovation affects a contractor’s business model, enabling practitioners to understand better and manage their long-term value-creation strategies.

VANET (Vehicular Ad Hoc Network) was developed to address the unique challenges of communication in a mobile vehicular environment. This technology can enhance driving safety and traffic control. Moreover, similar principles can be applied to unmanned aerial vehicles and robotics. When transmitting data in moving vehicles, it is challenging as access points and base stations keep changing, requiring handovers between different access points and base stations. Clustering is a popular approach used to address this challenge. Common clustering strategies are based on the proximity, communication range, the density, the application requirements of the moving vehicles, or hybrid of them. In this paper, we propose a clustering strategy based on the application sublayer in the vehicle communication protocol. If two computing devices on the move run the same application, they can be grouped together. The contribution of this research is to develop a clustering mechanism based on the application with very low overhead. We also validate the proposed method through simulations. The simulation results indicate that the proposed method is feasible.

This paper proposes a fitness movement evaluation system using deep learning. The system uses a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) to extract features from pictures of fitness movements. The features are then used to classify the movements into different categories. The system is evaluated on a dataset of pictures of fitness movements. The results show that the system can accurately classify the movements into different categories. The system is designed to provide feedback to users on their fitness movements. The proposed system is a valuable tool for fitness enthusiasts. The main contribution of this paper is to propose a way to give users a score for their fitness movement. It can help users improve their fitness and track their progress over time. The system is also a valuable tool for fitness professionals. It can help professionals develop new fitness programs and provide feedback to their clients.

Since liquid bulk cargoes are the most frequently handled cargo types in Turkish ports in 2019 and the latter in 2020, the loading and unloading times of liquid bulk cargoes are important in terms of handling efficiency. While a higher amount of cargo handled per unit time increases the profitability for terminal operations, the short handling time of tankers at the terminal provides an advantage for the next voyage. In this study, the process in the terminals in Turkey where 19.05% of the total liquid bulk cargo handled was reviewed as well as the reasons for the waits in this process. Thus, it was aimed to find subjects that need to be focused on to reduce the waiting times. An expert team was asked to indicate the reasons for the waits using the fishbone method. In addition, a questionnaire was applied to a sample group of 134 people who were the stakeholders of the handling process. It was found out that the reasons for the waits obtained through the questionnaire matched those determined by the fishbone method. To reach a solution, prioritization was provided by scoring the reasons that lead to waits.
