This paper examines the reproducibility of massive information analytics under particular factors. The paper proposes the “performing Scalable Inference” technique to cope with scalability troubles and to exploit current big statistics platforms for efficient computing and statistics garage of the statistics. In particular, the paper describes how to perform leak-free, parallelizable visible analytics over massive datasets using present extensive records analytics frameworks such as Apache Flink. This method presents an automated manner to execute analytics that preserves reproducibility and the ability to make adjustments without re-running the entire technique. The paper also demonstrates how these analytics may help several real-world use instances, explore affected person cohorts for studies, and develop stratified patient cohorts for hospital therapy. In the end, the paper observes how the proposed method may be exercised within the real world. Actively scalable inference for massive information analytics is pivotal in optimizing decision-making and allocation of assets. Typically, such inferences are made based on information accumulated from numerous sources, databases, unstructured data, and different digital sources. So one can ensure scalability, a complete cloud-primarily based platform has to be hired. This solution will permit the ***, deploying the essential records series and evaluation algorithms are prime here. It could permit the platform to recognize the styles inside the statistics and discover any ability correlations or traits. Additionally, predictive analytics and system mastering strategies may be incorporated to provide insights into the results of the information. Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) is a genetic disease that causes benign tumors and dysfunctions in many organs, including the brain. Aside from the brain malformations, many individuals with TSC exhibit neuropsychiatric symptoms. Among these symptoms, autism spectrum disorder (ASd) is one of the most common co-morbidities, affecting up to 60% of the population. Past neuroimaging studies strongly suggested that the impairments in brain connectivity contribute to ASd, whether or not TSC-related. Specifically, the tract-based diffusion tensor imaging (dTI) analysis provides information on the fiber integrity and has been used to study the neuropathological changes in the white matter of TSC patients with ASd symptoms. In our previous study, curcumin, a diet-derived mTOR inhibitor has been shown to effectively mitigate learning and memory deficits and anxiety-like behavior in Tsc2 ^+/− mice via inhibiting astroglial proliferation. Recently, gut microbiota, which is greatly influenced by the diet, has been considered to play an important role in regulating several components of the central nervous system, including glial functions. In this study, we showed that the abnormal social behavior in the Tsc2 ^+/− mice can be ameliorated by the dietary curcumin treatment. Second, using tract-based dTI analysis, we found that the Tsc2 ^+/− mice exhibited altered fractional anisotropy, axial and radial diffusivities of axonal bundles connecting the prefrontal cortex, nucleus accumbens, hypothalamus, and amygdala, indicating a decreased brain network. Third, the dietary curcumin treatment improved the dTI metrics, in accordance with changes in the gut microbiota composition. At the bacterial phylum level, we showed that the abundances of Actinobacteria, Verrucomicrobia, and Tenericutes were significantly correlated with the dTI metrics FA, Ad, and Rd, respectively. The manual sampling of rock cuttings offthe shale shaker for lithology and petrophysical characterization is performed frequently during mud logging. Knowing the depth origin where the cuttings were generated is very important for correlating the cuttings to the petrophysical characterization of the formation. It is a challenge to accurately determine the depth origin ofthe cuttings, especially in horizontal sections and in coiled tubing drilling, where conventional logging while drilling is not accessible. Additionally, even in less challenging drilling conditions, many factors can contribute to an inaccurate assessment ofthe depth origin of the cuttings. Inaccuracies can be caused by the variation of the annulus dimension used to determine the lag time, and therefore, the depth of the cuttings, by the shifting or scrambling of cuttings during their return trip back to the surface, and by the mislabeling ofthe cuttings during sampling. In this work, we report the synthesis and application ofpolystyrenic nanoparticles (NanoTags) in labeling cuttings for depth origin assessment. We have successfully tagged cuttings using two NanoTags during a drilling field-test in a carbonate gas well and demonstrated nanogram detection capability of the tags via pyrolysis-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (Py-GO-MS) using an internally developed workflow. The cuttings depth determined using our tags correlates well with the depth calculated by conventional mud logging techniques. © 2021 Aramco Services Company. All rights reserved.

This research aims to create a virtual reality-based practice system that simulates real-stage performance environments, assisting amateur dancers in overcoming stage fright and practicing group choreography that is difficult to achieve during individual practice. In this study, users can engage in performance simulations within the created system using the HTC VIVE virtual reality device. Within the system, we have developed a virtual stage space system that only requires a 2m x 3.5m physical area to simulate a large virtual stage experience. Users can also simulate choreographic positioning with virtual dance partners within this system, providing amateur dancers with group dance rehearsal practice opportunities that are not feasible during solo practice. Additionally, by creating three different audience modes, we aim to help users simulate various audience scenarios they may encounter during a performance. The system includes a recording feature that captures users' simulated performances, allowing them to review their actions and receive feedback after practice.

Augmented reality (AR) is a technology that instantly merges digital pictures with the real scene. The perspective near-eye display is a key module of AR, through which computer-generated pictures or videos can be displayed in the existing environment. The purpose of this research is to establish the system structure of an augmented reality near-eye display device and to design the off-axis two-piece reflective aspherical mirror. Because AR glasses are wearable and are worn close to the eyes, not only the optical performance of the display but also the clear vision of the user needs to be considered. In this study, an off-axis two-piece reflective aspherical mirror is used as the optical system of the AR for displaying the digital image. The micro-display is placed at the focal point of the optical system to form a digital image, and the horizontal movement of the micro-display along the optical axis is controlled by a precise displacement mechanism so that the patient with uncorrected myopia or hyperopia can see the digital picture and real scene. Because the right and left micro-displays move horizontally independently, the user can see the images on the AR device, which becomes the biggest feature of this study.

This paper presents a comprehensive review on the current state of digital simulation technology and its strategic application usages with a key focus on advanced compression garments. Although three-dimensional(3d) digital garment simulators have significantly impacted the apparel and textile industry, their use has been limited to visual prototyping, quality checking, or marketing. The physical properties of garment simulators have been overlooked in advanced functional manufacturing. This literature review investigates the possibility of strategically utilizing virtual physical properties to enhance garment functions, specifically in wearables and medical-grade compression fields. The first phase of this paper gives an overview of the current state of 3d garment simulation tools and their measurement features. This is followed by a gap analysis between simulated and physical property evaluations, focusing on minimizing the gaps. The literature is thoroughly examined to identify appropriate studies that uses digital tools for compressional garments and add value to wearables and healthcare applications. This paper provides valuable insights for apparel and textile engineers, enabling them to better understand the limitations and capabilities of garment simulators in improving advanced features for specific end users.

Understanding Server-Assisted Federated Learning in the Presence of Incomplete Client Participation

Existing works in federated learning (FL) often assume an ideal system with either full client or uniformly distributed client participation. However, in practice, it has been observed that some clients may never participate in FL training (aka incomplete client participation) due to a myriad of system heterogeneity factors. A popular approach to mitigate impacts of incomplete client participation is the server-assisted federated learning (SA-FL) framework, where the server is equipped with an auxiliary dataset. However, despite SA-FL has been empirically shown to be effective in addressing the incomplete client participation problem, there remains a lack of theoretical understanding for SA-FL. Meanwhile, the ramifications of incomplete client participation in conventional FL are also poorly understood. These theoretical gaps motivate us to rigorously investigate SA-FL. Toward this end, we first show that conventional FL is not PAC-learnable under incomplete client participation in the worst case. Then, we show that the PAC-learnability of FL with incomplete client participation can indeed be revived by SA-FL, which theoretically justifies the use of SA-FL for the first time. Lastly, to provide practical guidance for SA-FL training under incomplete client participation, we propose the SAFARI (server-assisted federated averaging) algorithm that enjoys the same linear convergence speedup guarantees as classic FL with ideal client participation assumptions, offering the first SA-FL algorithm with convergence guarantee. Extensive experiments on different datasets show SAFARI significantly improves the performance under incomplete client participation. © 2024, CC BY-NC-Nd.

The integration of wearable biosignal monitoring systems into daily healthcare has marked a significant advancement in medical care. Yet, the design of these devices often neglects the anatomical specificity of individual bodies, compromising both functionality and comfort. This oversight is particularly pronounced in research on the effective placement of 3-lead electrodes, selecting suitable materials, and customizing fit for women's diverse body shapes. To address this gap, this research introduces a novel design methodology for the development of advanced wearable health-monitoring garments, focusing on smart sports bras as a case study. This approach emphasizes contact pressure (CP) optimization for electrode placement, material selection, and sizing to enhance biosignal acquisition and comfort for the wearer. The study identifies optimal horizontal 3-lead electrode placements and configurations, the most effective across three female participants with diverse body mass indices (BMIs). Furthermore, the research employs a simulation-based contact pressure model (CP model) to precisely engineer desired pressure levels through strategic material selection and sizing adjustments. Guided by the CP model, screen-printed silver/silver chloride electrodes are incorporated into single jersey knit fabric, adjusted by a 20% pattern size reduction for a tailored electrocardiogram (ECG) chest band in the optimized configuration. This achieves a signal-to-noise ratio of 40.9, closely comparable to the 41.9 ratio obtained with traditional wet electrodes, while also exhibiting a higher QRS amplitude above 0.84mV, benchmarked against 12-lead electrodes for reliability. The study further identifies an optimal contact pressure range of 0.56-1.24 kPa for ECG chest bands and a subjective pressure tolerance range of 0.93 to 1.8 kPa in the chest area across female subjects. A Two-stage Approach for Spring Images Contour Extraction

Spring is a widely used mechanical equipment. The segmentation of spring images is seriously affected by intensity inhomogeneity. To solve this problem, a two-stage high-precision spring image segmentation algorithm is proposed. First, a spring measurement platform is constructed to obtain images of springs. Then a two-stage spring image contour extraction algorithm is proposed. The first stage combines the global information of the image to construct a histogram fuzzy clustering model to obtain the initial contour of the spring, then, the local information of the spring image is combined to construct a level set model to accurately extract the spring contour in the second stage. Through comparison with existing algorithms and accuracy analysis experiments, the effectiveness of the method is verified. Experimental results show that the algorithm has high accuracy, strong adaptive ability, high running speed, and can effectively suppress the problem of intensity inhomogeneity. © 2021. Cyclin-dependent kinase 8 (CdK8) plays a crucial role in the transforming growth factor beta (TGF-β) signaling pathway, which is critical to the pathology of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). CdK8 promotes the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and excessive extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition, making it a promising target for IPF treatment. This study focused on optimizing F059–1017, a previously identified CdK8 inhibitor, to enhance its potency. Through integrated structure-based modifications, a series of compounds was synthesized, and their inhibitory effects on CdK8 were tested. Results indicated that substituting with cyclopentanone significantly improved the inhibitory activity, and compound 4j demonstrated the best potency (IC₅₀ = 16 nM). Notably, compared to F059–1017, its potency increased 35-fold, and kinase profiling revealed that the compound was selective for CdK8. Compound 4j inhibited the TGF-β1-induced EMT, cell migration, and morphological changes in A549 cells at a concentration of 0.1 μM and inhibited ECM and EMT protein expressions. In addition, the compound blocked TGF-β1-induced transcriptional changes and inhibited Smad3 and RNA polymerase II phosphorylation. These results highlight the potential of the optimized CdK8 inhibitor as a prospective drug for IPF treatment. © 2025 The Authors
