Assessment of key risk factors in the cold chain logistics operations of container carriers using best worst method

Given that reefer containers are highly dependent on their temperature control function, container carriers must pay particular attention to the risks occurring during cold chain logistics. Assessment of cold chain safety risks can therefore reduce chance of accidents and concern for product damage. The goal of this study was to use the best worst method (BWM) to assess key risk factors in container carriers' cold chain logistics operations. After gathering relevant information from the literature and conducting expert interviews, this study preliminarily determined risk factors affecting container carriers' cold chain logistics operations, and obtained 15 risk factors in 3 risk assessment aspects. A BWM model was then developed and tested using empirical data from a questionnaire survey of experts. The results indicated that (1) the "shipper risk" aspect is the most important risk link for container carriers' cold chain logistics;(2) the 6 key risk factors with the greatest effect on container carriers' cold chain logistics are "excessively long container loading time," "insufficient pre-cooling of goods," "poor or improper product packaging," "dockside or shipboard power supply system malfunction," "improper cargo stacking," and "human error affecting temperature settings." As a reference for container carriers engaging in cold chain logistics, this study also suggests risk management strategies intended to enhance cold chain safety and performance. © 2023

Mixing layer height (MLH) is an important meteorological parameter for air quality since it significantly affects ground-level pollution in the atmosphere. This study examined the properties of the MLH on diurnal and seasonal timescales over a 3-year period (2020–2022) using high temporal resolution measurements from eight Vaisala CL31 ceilometers situated around Slovakia. Hourly averaged MLH data was retrieved from the BL-View software using merged method. The highest daily maxima for the MLH occurred mostly in summer and spring, while the lowest values occurred predominantly during winter and autumn. The average MLH daily maximum in summer was 2229 m, and just 859 m in winter. during summer, the spatial distribution of the MLH daily maxima was more uniform compared to winter, when the air masses within the individual valleys did not mix well. Correlations between ground-level pollutant concentrations and hourly mean/daily mean MLH were analyzed. The highest correlation, R≈0.6, was found for O3. For PM10, PM2.5, and NOx, the anticorrelations with MLH were found with maximum in winter (R ≈ − 0.3 for hourly data and R ≈ − 0.5 for daily mean data) but no relation in summer. Lastly, the ceilometer MLH was compared to the radiosonde retrieved MLH for various cloud covers. Our analysis is based on an extensive set of empirical data, which can improve the accuracy and effectiveness of meteorological and atmospheric chemistry models. The findings can support air pollution forecasting and warning systems, providing valuable insights for policymakers and researchers. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer-Verlag GmbH Germany, part of Springer Nature.

Amidst the rapidly evolving global economic landscape, the BRICS nations (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) have emerged as pivotal players, particularly in the construction sector, which serves as a cornerstone for their continued growth and development. This sector’s performance not only reflects the economic health of these nations but also their capacity for sustainable urban and infrastructural expansion. This study aims to provide a comprehensive evaluative analysis of the construction industry’s efficiency across the BRICS nations using the Bounded Rationality data Envelopment Analysis (BR-dEA) model, incorporating principles from Prospect Theory. Moreover, this study also investigates the relationship between behavioral economics and operational efficiency within this sector. According to well-known prospect theory, the psychological behavioral coefficients applied in the model include the loss aversion, the gain preference, the gain curvature, and the loss curvature coefficients. Key performance indicators for the model were meticulously chosen, normalized, and derived from reputable global and national databases. The findings revealed that efficiency scores generally increased with higher gain preference coefficients across different loss aversion settings, indicating that valuing gains more positively is associated with greater efficiency. Variations were observed among the BRICS countries, suggesting that efficiency is influenced by country-specific behavioral factors. This study contributes to the literature by integrating behavioral economics into efficiency analysis and offers practical insights for policymakers and industry leaders within the BRICS nations. Limitations are acknowledged, primarily relating to data availability and the inherent complexities of behavioral modeling, which provide avenues for future research to expand upon these initial findings.

People increasingly prioritize a balanced diet to enhance well-being, yet making informed dietary choices remains challenging amidst the abundance of options. To address this, we developed a meal image recognition and healthy meal combination recommender system, integrating generative artificial intelligence (AI). Convolutional neural networks were used for precise meal image recognition to identify diverse food items. The generative AI-augmented recommendation engine offers personalized meal suggestions aligned with nutritional goals and dietary preferences, utilizing a nutrition knowledge base to ensure overall well-being. The system's feasibility was validated, illustrating its excellence in meal recognition accuracy, recommendation diversity, and user engagement. By integrating generative AI, the system shows its potential to enhance dietary recommendations and public health. © 2024 IEEE.

The fusion of technology and culinary exploration has allowed for the emergence of advanced online customer service systems. We developed a novel approach to enhance the dining experience. We used a Cuisine Image Recognition and Recommender System (CIRRS) powered by Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to identify and suggest diverse cuisines based on visual inputs. CIRRS swiftly identified diverse cuisines from user-captured images, offering information on origin, ingredients, and variations by crawling websites. The system enhanced dining experiences by suggesting personalized menus based on individual preferences and past selections. Extensively tested across various culinary genres, CIRRS consistently demonstrated accuracy and adaptability. User feedback validated its potential to simplify dining choices and elevate satisfaction. This innovative system enriched dining experiences as a valuable tool for culinary enthusiasts, chefs, and restaurateurs, bridging the gap between technology and gastronomy, It also offers a unique way to explore Taiwanese cuisines. © 2023 IEEE.

programming ability is the core ability of this era and can be obtained and improved through practice. In this paper, an Automated programming Assessment system based on Mastery learning and Peer competition (APAMP) was proposed and developed. APAMP allows students to practice repeatedly by providing immediate feedback after their programs are submitted. It also presents an analytical dashboard as a competition mechanism for students to visualize their learning performance and compare their performance with peers. By incorporating APAMP into programming courses, students can master programming skills through repeated practice, and their enthusiasm for learning programming can also be encouraged by peer competition. To evaluate the effects of APAMP on the learning performance of students with programming language learning and novice students, a quasi-experiment was conducted in a high school. The experimental results showed that the learning achievement of the two groups of students improved significantly. Moreover, the learning attitude of students in the experienced group improved significantly, with the experienced students benefiting more from the system than the novice students. In fact, the novice students showed a significant decline in learning attitude and learning motivation, which was contrary to our intuition. © 2021 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

In NFC applications, user privacy information must be protected first. Cao and Liu recently proposed a lightweight NFC authentication scheme based on an improved hash function to ensure that the user's private information will not be leaked. Although their method is highly efficient and has Mutual Authentication, Forward Security, Backward Security, and security against attacks such as Replay, Location, and Fake, once out of synchronization occurs, the method must reestablish synchronization data. Therefore, this article will propose a lightweight synchronization method. © 2023 IEEE.

developing cost-effective photoelectrodes with a low band gap in the NIR-visible regions remains a challenge to achieve effective hydrogen production. We report the details of superstrate-configured photocathodes, consisting of antimony selenide (Sb2Se3) light absorbing layers with titanium dioxide (TiO2) as a hole transport layer, exhibiting the capability for hydrogen evolution with broad range light absorption enabled by the low band gap value of ∼1.2 eV of Sb2Se3. Strong anisotropy is a significant characteristic property of Sb2Se3, allowing superior electrical transportation along the [hkl] crystallographic orientation, which is obtained via close space evaporation of presynthesized bulk material at a growth temperature of 250 °C, over the solution-processed TiO2 film on a fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) substrate. The superstrate-configured FTO/TiO2/Sb2Se3 photocathode exhibited a photocurrent density of 100 μA cm-2 at −0.3 V vs RHE in 0.5 M H2SO4 under 1 sun illumination. To further improve photocurrent density, Pt as a cocatalyst was deposited over Sb2Se3 that led to enhanced photocurrent to 3 mA cm-2 at −0.3 V vs RHE in 0.5 M H2SO4 under 1 sun illumination. despite the relatively lower photocurrent observed, which resulted due to a large conduction band offset (ΔECB = 0.99 eV) of the TiO2/Sb2Se3 interface in a superstrate configuration, a significantly lower onset potential of −0.1 V vs RHE was observed. The results are encouraging due to the low band gap of Sb2Se3, photocorrosion stability, and straightforward fabrication, which is expected to assist for significant outcomes. © 2024 American Chemical Society.

In this study, the human visual field test technology is established by using an optoelectrical system consisting of a translucent ellipsoid, an area light source, and a landscape scene with an indicator. during the test, the subjects stared at the indicator directly in front of them with one eye and kept their eyeballs still, scanning the light strip with peripheral vision and using the mouse button plus the playback program to record the start and end positions of the scanning light strip in the landscape scene. This method is tested subjectively, and the subject needs to respond during the test. Therefore, before the test, the subject needs to understand the test process and be trained in advance to improve the exam accuracy. In the experiment, fifteen subjects with normal vision and no eye disease were selected. Their visual fields were confirmed normal after a preliminary assessment. The test results showed that the subjects' eyes were within the normal visual field, indicating that this method was feasible. In this research, a digital optical platform for the near visual field is proposed to establish an optoelectric visual field measurement technology. The proposed method is characterized by small size, rapid operation, and easy portability. With the digital LCd and visual imaging technology, both dynamic and static visual fields can be tested. The test data on the eyes' upper, lower, nasal, and temporal sides were consistent with the normal visual field. This shows that this method is feasible and worthy of promotion in the optometry industry. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper proposes a fitness movement evaluation system using deep learning. The system uses a deep convolutional neural network (CNN) to extract features from pictures of fitness movements. The features are then used to classify the movements into different categories. The system is evaluated on a dataset of pictures of fitness movements. The results show that the system can accurately classify the movements into different categories. The system is designed to provide feedback to users on their fitness movements. The proposed system is a valuable tool for fitness enthusiasts. The main contribution of this paper is to propose a way to give users a score for their fitness movement.
