Objectives: Nontyphoidal Salmonella (NTS) is a major foodborne pathogen causing from acute gastroenteritis to bacteraemia, particularly in paediatric and elderly patients. Antimicrobial resistance of NTS, especially resistance to extended-spectrum cephalosporins, has emerged over the past decades. Methods: Thirteen NTS isolates resistant to ceftriaxone or cefotaxime were collected from a teaching hospital in Taipei, and another three from a tertiary hospital, in New Taipei City, Taiwan, from September 2018 to december 2019. Ten other archived isolates from 2000 to 2017 were also obtained. Complete genomes of the 26 isolates were obtained. Serovars, sequence types, resistomes, genetic relatedness, and sequence comparison of plasmids were analyzed. Results: Serogroups B, C2 and E were significantly associated with ampicillin resistance. Over 90% of these 26 isolates are susceptible to carbapenems and colistin. Genomic epidemiology of these isolates shows that bla_CMY-2-harbouring isolates in different serovars were prevalent over two decades, presumably resulting from highly mobile IncI1 plasmid harbouring bla_CMY-2. One type of the IncI1 plasmids contained a mobile element, IS26, which might be involved in the acquisition of antimicrobial resistance genes. Two emerging serovars, S. Goldcoast ST358 harbouring bla_CTX-M-55 on IncHI2 plasmids and S. Anatum ST64 harbouring bla_dHA-1 on IncA/C₂ plasmids persisted in Taiwan, possibly through the clonal spread. Integration of complete or partial plasmid sequences into host chromosomes or multiplications of the antimicrobial resistance genes also appears to be mediated by IS26, in the two emerging clones. Conclusion: The dynamic movement of cephalosporinase genes mediated by IS26 in NTS is of great concern. © 2023 The Authors

5G (fifth generation) is more reliable at a very low cost and provides 10 times more capacity than other generations. Some of the countries namely India, South Korea, San Marino, China have conducted experiments for the implantation of 5G. 5G Wireless technology used for mobile communication will be expected to be launched in India by 2020. Companies such as Nokia, Ericsson, Intel, AT&T, BT, Qualcomm, Verizon, and Samsung are developing the new wireless mobiles for 5G. High speed, low latency, and high capacity are the main characteristics of 5G for supporting different real-time multimedia. So, there is necessary to develop the 5G enabling technologies. The key enabling technologies used in 5G networks include device-to-device (d2d) communication, Machine-to-machine (M2M) communication, Millimetre Wave, Quality of Service (QoS), Network Function Virtualization (NFV), Vehicle-to-everything (V2X), Full-duplex and Green Communication. 5G allows transmitting data at 10-20 Gbps which is 100 times greater than 4G technology which creates new IoT robotic surgery applications. This paper explains about evolution and overview of 5G wireless technology with its features, applications, equipment providers, technological challenges, impact on society, etc. and also describes the architecture of 5G along with its key enabling technologies.

Background: Network propagation has been widely used for nearly 20 years to predict gene functions and phenotypes. despite the popularity of this approach, little attention has been paid to the question of provenance tracing in this context, e.g., determining how much any experimental observation in the input contributes to the score of every prediction. Results: We design a network propagation framework with two novel components and apply it to predict human proteins that directly or indirectly interact with SARS-CoV-2 proteins. First, we trace the provenance of each prediction to its experimentally validated sources, which in our case are human proteins experimentally determined to interact with viral proteins. Second, we design a technique that helps to reduce the manual adjustment of parameters by users. We find that for every top-ranking prediction, the highest contribution to its score arises from a direct neighbor in a human protein-protein interaction network. We further analyze these results to develop functional insights on SARS-CoV-2 that expand on known biology such as the connection between endoplasmic reticulum stress, HSPA5, and anti-clotting agents. Conclusions: We examine how our provenance tracing method can be generalized to a broad class of network-based algorithms. We provide a useful resource for the SARS-CoV-2 community that implicates many previously undocumented proteins with putative functional relationships to viral infection. This resource includes potential drugs that can be opportunistically repositioned to target these proteins. Culture is an integrative system that helps to keep societies alive. Through the integrative system, common behaviors, emotions are adopted among people, and the necessity to implement unwritten rules is internalized by individuals. This cultural structure not only manifests itself in social life but also plays an active role in work life in the standardization of the functioning of organizations. Organizations can be managed easily through unwritten rules thanks to culture, which helps to reduce the workload of organizations and to eliminate the order by which employees are directed by other *** aim of this study is to define the work safety culture which is a subculture of organizational culture, to explain how it holds organizations together in respect of safety and how it helps the standardization of systems and to examine which elements the general structure of work safety culture in Turkey contains. In this context, a literature review has been carried out and the data obtained have been compiled and interpreted.

Air pollution has become a major global threat to human health. Urbanization and industrialization over the past few decades have increased the air pollution. Plausible connections have been made between air pollutants and dementia. This study used machine learning algorithms (k-nearest neighbors, random forest, gradient-boosted decision trees, eXtreme gradient boosting, and CatBoost) to investigate the association between cognitive impairment and air pollution. data from the Taiwan Biobank and 75 air-pollution-monitoring stations in Taiwan were analyzed to determine individual levels of exposure to air pollutants. The pollutants examined were particulate matter with a diameter of ≤ 2.5 μm (PM), nitrogen dioxide, nitric oxide, carbon monoxide, and ozone. The results revealed that the most strongly correlated with cognitive impairment were ozone, PM, and carbon monoxide levels with adjustment of educational level, age, and household income. The model based on these factors achieved accuracy as high as 0.97 for detecting cognitive impairment, indicating a positive association between air pollutions and cognitive impairment.

Astroglial-fibrotic scars resulted from spinal cord injury affect motor and sensory function, leading to paralysis. In particular, the fibrotic scar is a main barrier that disrupts neuronal regeneration after spinal cord injury. However, the association between astrocytes and fibrotic scar formation is not yet understood. We have previously demonstrated that the transcriptional factor Cebpd contributes to astrogliosis, which promotes glial scar formation after spinal cord injury. Herein, we show that fibrotic scar formation was decreased in the epicenter region in Cebpd mice after contusive spinal cord injury and astrocytic Cebpd promoted fibroblast migration through secretion of Ptx3. Furthermore, the expression of Mmp3 was increased under recombinant protein Ptx3 treatment in fibroblasts by observing microarray data, resulting in fibroblast migration. In addition, regulation of Mmp3 occurs through the NFκB signaling pathway by using an irreversible inhibitor of IκBα phosphorylation in pretreated fibroblasts. Of note, we used the synthetic peptide RI37, which blocks fibroblast migration and decreases fibroblast Mmp3 expression in IL-1β-treated astrocyte conditioned media. Collectively, our data suggest that fibroblast migration can be affected by astrocytic Cebpd through the Ptx3/NFκB/Mmp3 axis pathway and that the RI37 peptide may act as a therapeutic medicine to inhibit fibrotic scar formation after spinal cord injury.

Background: The influence of the breast as the primary site on the outcome of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (dLBCL) and further changes in therapeutic strategies remain unclear. We aimed to compare the outcomes between primary breast and non-breast dLBCL and analyze the genetic profiles of some of the study cohorts using next-generation sequencing. Methods: This matched-pair study reviewed the medical records of 19 patients with stage I and II primary breast dLBCL diagnosed between January 2005 and december 2021 on the basis of the Wiseman and Liao criteria, and we used 1:4 propensity score matching to identify patients with non-breast dLBCL as the control group. The overall response rate, progression-free survival (PFS), and overall survival (OS) were the outcome measures. Results: Patients with primary breast and non-breast dLBCL had a 5-year PFS of 72.6% and 86.9%, respectively (P =.206). These 2 groups also had comparable 5-year OS (86.9% vs 87.8%;P =.772). The breast as the primary site was not associated with inferior PFS (hazard ratio [HR]: 2.14;95% CI: 0.66-6.96;P =.206) and OS (HR: 1.26;95% CI: 0.27-5.93;P =.772). Conclusion: Patients with primary breast dLBCL and those with non-breast dLBCL had comparable PFS and OS under rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, and prednisone (R-CHOP) or R-CHOP-like regimens. Further investigations of the mutation profile, its clinical impact, potential central nervous system relapse, and prognosis of primary breast dLBCL are required. © The Author(s) 2023.

The effect of starch-hydrocolloid interaction on starch digestibility, pasting and physicochemical properties: A review

In complex food matrix, blending starch with non-starch hydrocolloids such as gum arabic, xanthan gum, guar gum, carrageenan, locust bean gum, and pectin may impact starch digestibility, pasting and physicochemical properties. The starch-hydrocolloids blending have specific application in the food product as an emulsifier, gelling agent thickener, stabilizer and inhibiting formation of ice and sugar crystal. As a thickener, hydrocolloid can increase the viscosity of food products and inhibit the accessibility of α-amylase to the starch granules. Effect of hydrocolloid on starch digestibility, pasting and physicochemical properties depends on starch source, type and concentration of hydrocolloid, and method of preparation starch-hydrocolloid mixture. This review summarized several studies about the effect of starch-hydrocolloid interaction on the starch digestibility, pasting and physicochemical properties. Furthermore, the mechanism of starch-hydrocolloid interaction and their applications in food product are also discussed. The pupose of this review is to provide information of several applications and recent utilization trend of starch-hydrocolloid blend in food systems.
