For how to store and transport hydrogen, the first thought is to store hydrogen directly in the cylinder. However, this method is not desirable, because generally at least 700 atm high pressure, the hydrogen contained in the cylinder to be useful. Therefore it is very unsafe at such high pressures. In This paper, we design and production of a new generation of solid-state hydrogen storage and discharge container. The goal of 'development of solid-state hydrogen storage technology' is to break through the bottlenecks of hydrogen storage technology safety, hydrogen storage density, high-efficiency hydrogen absorption and release, transportation safety, and engineering practice. © 2024 IEEE.

Mg-Sn alloy thin films have garnered significant attention for their outstanding thermoelectric (TE) properties and cost-effective elemental composition, making them potential candidates for wearable energy harvesting devices. While previous studies have explored the properties of these thin films, limited research has been conducted to identify physical factors that can further enhance their performance. In this study, we present a novel approach utilizing a convenient electron beam coevaporation technique to fabricate Mg-Sn alloy thin films. Experimental results revealed that controlling the tin content in the Mg-Sn thin films at 38.9% led to the formation of a mixed-phase structure, comprising Mg2Sn and Mg9Sn5. This dual-phase structure exhibited a notable advantage in enhancing the TE performance. The presence of the Mg9Sn5 phase significantly increased the carrier concentration, while maintaining the original Seebeck coefficient and mobility, thereby improving the conductivity of Mg2Sn. Theoretical calculations indicated that the Mg9Sn5 phase displayed 1d-like characteristics, leading to a highly effective valley degeneracy and consequently a high power factor. Overall, this work introduces a promising approach to fabricate high-performance Mg-Sn alloy thin films through electron beam coevaporation, opening up possibilities for their application in wearable energy harvesting devices. © 2024 American Chemical Society.

Symbolic computation for systems of differential equations is often computationally expensive. Many practical differential models have a form of polynomial or rational OdE system with specified outputs. A basic symbolic approach to analyze these models is to compute and then symbolically process the polynomial system obtained by sufficiently many Lie derivatives of the output functions with respect to the vector field given by the OdE system. In this paper, we present a method for speeding up Gröbner basis computation for such a class of polynomial systems by using specific monomial ordering, including weights for the variables, coming from the structure of the OdE model. We provide empirical results that show improvement across different symbolic computing frameworks and apply the method to speed up structural identifiability analysis of OdE models. © 2024 ACM.

In brain tumor research, the use of machine learning based methods using MRI data to locate brain tumors accurately has significantly increased and new techniques are proposed to facilitate the medical experts. There is still room for improvement as tumors have complex anatomy which requires efforts to explore further and propose new deep learning based solutions. In this research, we propose 3d UNet based multimodal brain tumor segmentation for Non Enhancing Tumor (NET), Peritumoral Edema (PE), and Enhancing Tumor (ET). data preprocessing and augmentation techniques are employed to optimise the model's performance. The dataset used in this study to train, validate, and test the model performance is the BraTS 2020 dataset. The model achieved improved accuracy and IoU after implementing the mentioned techniques. Results before and after data augmentation demonstrate a significant enhancement in model performance. The model achieved an improved mIoU of 0.77 and accuracies of 98.21% and 99.36% for actual data and augmented data for three brain tumor classes, i.e., NET, PE, and ET. Our model performed multiclass brain tumor segmentation with high accuracies, and we aim to enhance this study to propose a valuable medical assistance model.

Medical image segmentation plays a crucial role in identifying and analyzing anatomical structures in medical images. This requires an accurate medical segmentation tool to delineate and quantitatively analyze the target regions, diagnose any abnormality, and assist in treatment planning. deep learning approaches have emerged as a promising solution for automating medical segmentation. However, challenges arise when dealing with the complex shapes and spatial variations of some target regions, especially in 3d MRI scans. To deal with such transformations, specific techniques are required to properly analyze and preprocess the dataset and perform image filtering to provide better features for improved prediction performance of deep learning architectures. This study focuses on improving brain tumor segmentation in multimodal 3d MRI images. We observed significant improvements in multimodal brain tumor segmentation results (accuracy, IoU, and mIoU) using an optimized 3d Gabor filter, which helps extract meaningful features. Multichannel input images were preprocessed to remove noise and select an appropriate resolution to reduce computational complexity. An improvement in mean Intersection over Union (mIoU) from 0.714 to 0.804 and accuracy from 0.982 to 0.991 were achieved, which shows a major improvement. This work contributes to the field of medical image segmentation by offering an improved and efficient approach for brain tumor analysis in 3d MRI scans, potentially aiding in diagnosis and treatment planning.

A Two-stage Approach for Spring Images Contour Extraction

Spring is a widely used mechanical equipment. The segmentation of spring images is seriously affected by intensity inhomogeneity. To solve this problem, a two-stage high-precision spring image segmentation algorithm is proposed. First, a spring measurement platform is constructed to obtain images of springs. Then a two-stage spring image contour extraction algorithm is proposed. The first stage combines the global information of the image to construct a histogram fuzzy clustering model to obtain the initial contour of the spring, then, the local information of the spring image is combined to construct a level set model to accurately extract the spring contour in the second stage. Through comparison with existing algorithms and accuracy analysis experiments, the effectiveness of the method is verified. Experimental results show that the algorithm has high accuracy, strong adaptive ability, high running speed, and can effectively suppress the problem of intensity inhomogeneity. © 2021. Wheelchair basketball for people with disabilities is a niche market with limited attention and resources due to its smaller scale. We utilize the characteristics of VR technology, combining wearable devices with physical wheelchair seating, to create a virtual and real interactive game of wheelchair basketball. This enables people with disabilities to exercise at home and allows the general public to experience the challenges of disability sports, fostering empathy and emphasizing the importance of social justice. © 2024 IEEE.

Students’ computational thinking and programming skills may grow due to collaborative programming. But as the researchers have noted, students frequently do not use metacognition to manage their cognitive activities while collaborating, which negatively affects learning. This study created a metacognition-based collaborative programming (MCP) system to improve students’ performance in collaborative programming. A seven-week study examined how the approach affected students’ performance in programming courses. The 88 middle school students were split into two groups: the experimental group received the metacognition-based collaborative programming approach, and the control group received the conventional computer-supported collaborative programming approach. The results indicated that the metacognitive-based collaborative programming approach enhanced students’ academic scores in programming courses and their computational thinking tendencies. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

AC-dC converters almost always require common-mode (CM) filters to restrict conducting their electromagnetic interference (EMI) emissions to the power grid and ensure compliance with EMI certification requirements. These CM filters, which are based on the well-known LC lowpass filter, are typically bulky and expensive. Hence, a method for passive $\mathbf{C M}$ current cancellation using a nonlinear model is proposed herein. This method is entirely composed of passive components and offers advantages in terms of cost and system reliability. Compared to conventional passive LC filters, the number of magnetic components remains unchanged. This study proposes the derivation of a nonlinear model to estimate the filter performance using measured data from an actual CM choke; however, the proposed method does not require the mathematical model of a CM choke.

In this study, a reflective aspheric optical system is used to establish an eye examination device for distance and near vision tests. The system includes a micro-display with a rotating device, an off-axis parabolic mirror, an off-axis ellipsoid mirror, a chin-fixing bracket, and vision software. The display contents of the micro-display include English C and E charts, Chinese words, graphics, and animation. The off-axis parabolic mirror and off-axis ellipsoid mirror are confocal, and the micro-display is placed at the confocal point. The micro-display is projected through an off-axis parabolic mirror for myopia's distance vision testing, and an off-axis elliptical mirror for myopia's near vision testing. Others, the graphics and animation, provide visual checks for young children. In addition, CCd cameras and AI recognition can be used as visual examinations for people with language impairment. In this study, twenty-five subjects with the refractive error were tested using E-chart and this device to obtain the decimal point VA value, and the trial frame and lens were used to obtain the diopter of glasses. The date of the experimental results was used as a reference value for ophthalmological examination. This system uses an off-axis parabolic mirror and an off-axis ellipsoidal mirror. Optical alignment is a challenge to solve for the system. Students participating in the study obtained good optics training. The advantages of the developed device include the convenience to carry with a multi-purpose and straightforward use. © 2023 IEEE.
