Simulation of a 3d Turbulent Wavy Channel based on the High-order WENO Scheme

Passive interest turbulent drag reduction, effective means to improve air vehicle fuel consumption costs. Most turbulent problems happening to the nature and engineering applications were exactly the turbulence problem frequently caused by one or more turbulent shear flows. This study was operated with incompressible 3-d channels with cyclic wavy boundary to explore the physical properties of turbulence flow. This research measures the distribution of average velocity, instant flowing field shapes, turbulence and pressure distribution, etc. Furthermore, the systematic computation and analysis for the 3-d flow field was also implemented. It was aimed to clearly understand the turbulence fields formed by wavy boundary of tube flow. The purpose of this research is to obtain systematic structural information about the turbulent flow field and features of the turbulence structure are discussed.

BACKGROUNd:Increased prevalence of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) remains a global health challenge. HCC chemoresistance is a clinical obstacle for its management. Aberrant miRNA expression is a hallmark for both cancer progression and drug resistance. However, it is unclear which miRNAs are involved in HCC chemoresistance. METHOdS:MicroRNA microarray analysis revealed a differential expression profile of microRNAs between the hepatocellular carcinoma HA22T cell line and the HdACi-R cell line, which was validated by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR). To determine the biological function of miR-342-5p and the mechanism of the microRNA-342-5p/CFL1 axis in hepatocellular carcinoma HdACi resistance, loss- and gain-of-function studies were conducted in vitro. RESULTS:Here we demonstrated the molecular mechanism of histone deacetylase inhibitor (HdACi) resistance in HCC. differential miRNA expression analysis showed significant down regulation of miR-342-5p in HdACi-R cells than in parental HA22T cells. Mimics of miR-342-5p enhanced apoptosis through upregulation of Bax, cyto-C, cleaved-caspase-3 expressions with concomitant decline in anti-apoptotic protein (Bcl-2) in HdACi-R cells. Although HdACi did not increase cell viability of HdACi-R, overexpression of miR-342-5p decreased cofilin-1 expression, upregulated reactive oxygen species (ROS) mediated apoptosis, and sensitized HdACi-R to HdACi in a dose-dependent manner. CONCLUSION:Our findings demonstrated the critical role of miR-342-5p in HdACi resistance of HCC and that this mechanism might be attributed to miR-342-5p/cofilin-1 regulation.

The recent adoption of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) by healthcare providers has introduced an important source of data that provides detailed and highly specific insights into patient phenotypes over large cohorts. These datasets, in combination with machine learning and statistical approaches, generate new opportunities for research and clinical care. However, many methods require the patient representations to be in structured formats, while the information in the EHR is often locked in unstructured text designed for human readability. In this work, we develop the methodology to automatically extract clinical features from clinical narratives from large EHR corpora without the need for prior knowledge. We consider medical terms and sentences appearing in clinical narratives as atomic information units. We propose an efficient clustering strategy suitable for the analysis of large text corpora and utilize the clusters to represent information about the patient compactly. Additionally, we define the sentences on ontologic and natural language vocabularies to automatically detect pertinent combinations of concepts present in the corpus, even when an ontology is not available. To demonstrate the utility of our approach, we perform an association study of clinical features with somatic mutation profiles from 4,007 cancer patients and their tumors. We apply the proposed algorithm to a dataset consisting of .65 thousand documents with a total of .3.2 million sentences. After correcting for cancer type and other confounding factors, we identify a total of 340 significant statistical associations between the presence of somatic mutations and clinical features. We annotated these associations according to their novelty and we report several known associations. We also propose 37 plausible, testable hypothesis for associations where the underlying biological mechanism does not appear to be known. Effect of sodium silicate as activator on the fresh and hardened properties of cement-slag blended paste

Ground granulated blast-furnace slag (GGBS) is commonly used as partial cement replacement in concrete production. Although the use of GGBS has many advantages, it possesses a lower initial hydration rate that leads to lower early strength. Therefore, an attempt to use sodium silicate to activate the GGBS was carried out to promote the early strength of cement-GGBS blended paste. Based on experimental results, incorporation of 5 and 10% of sodium silicate slightly reduced the flowability and final setting time of blended paste. For hardened properties, the addition of sodium silicate reduced the strength at early age until 28 days. The modulus of elasticity of activated paste with sodium silicate was lower at early age, however at 28 days the result was comparable with the control specimen. The addition of sodium silicate decreased the ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) value at early age, however, at 28 days, 5% sodium silicate specimen had a higher UPV value than the control specimen. The different trend between UPV test and compressive strength test was suggested due to the inhomogeneous structure of activated blended paste that had a different mechanism during destructive test (compressive strength test) and non-destructive test (UPV test).

Potential growth of meliponiculture in West Halmahera, Indonesia

Meliponiculture is stingless bee's beekeeping, developed in many countries, also Indonesia. Stingless bee produced honey with high value, wax, and propolis that used by humans, also to pollinate crops. West Halmahera, North Moluccas Province, Indonesia has potencies for the growth of meliponiculture, supported by natural resources that produced nectars and pollens to feed them, as well as resins for the nest and defenses. Land suitability has been considered in beekeeping. This research was conducted in West Halmahera. This paper aims to evaluate the land suitability for the growth of meliponiculture in West Halmahera. The method used was Multi-Criteria decision Making. There are four (4) criteria used, which are: elevation, temperature, bee forage potency, and land use. These criteria were weighted by Analytical Hierarchy Process. The criteria's weights, as well as sub-criteria scores resulted, were used to delineate areas that are suitable for bee in a model by using Geographic Information System. The result of the analysis showed that West Halmahera has 99% potencies for the growth of meliponiculture in various levels of suitability. The highly suitable (S1) area for meliponiculture is 26.46%, suitable (S2) is 59.46% and marginally suitable (S3) is 13.18%.

Artificial seawall by silt squeezing with blasting dike, a small price for a good seawall than with mechanical dredging, and is effective in preventing this kind of accident from tsunami and typhoon disaster. This paper briefly discusses the pollution situation of poultry and mankind waste in China. For the first time gives the techniques for harmless (China patent ZL 201220109642.1, no flush heathy toilet.) and utilization of waste in China are presented and analysed for benefit utilization. Sanitary toilet without sewers -2019 world break-through technologies (no flush heathy toilet) driven reinvent the toilet challenge, RTTC. Authors also show the technique for harass and utilization of wastes in China. The authors suggest that all the mankind and animal waste, after harmless processing, should be used in a way of useful things as feed, fertilizer, etc. to benefit human society, prevent disease (covid-19, sars) propagation and reduce greenhouse gases. It is also can be used on ship, aircraft, coach and out space etc. (China patent ZL 201220109642.1 is one of several ways of human and livestock faeces harmless treatment, ultraviolet disinfection, ozone fumigation), its weight less than 15kg, volume less than 0.12m3.

Non-destructive evaluation of a city roadway for pavement rehabilitation: A case study

In this study, a pavement evaluation was carried out on a corridor that carried heavy truck traffic, connecting a harbor, a major high-way, an airport, and industries. The pavement of the corridor was distressed frequently, requiring constant maintenance. With tight maintenance budget and intention to minimize the effects on traffic, full reconstruction or major rehabilitation of the corridor was not practical. To develop proper pavement rehabilitation design within the practical constrains, pavement evaluation was performed in this study using non-destructive techniques, such as visual condition survey, falling weight deflectometer (FWd), ground penetrating radar (GPR), and dynamic cone penetrometer (dCP), and pavement coring. It is demonstrated that appropriate pavement rehabilitation design can be developed to offer practical solution to the repair/maintenance for city streets. © 2017 Chinese Society of Pavement engineering.
