For the continuous infinite horizon time-invariant linear quadratic regulator problem (LQR), in the paper, the optimal state feedback controller based on the estimated state of the observer can be decoupled by the proposed approach which resulting one continuous time algebraic Riccati equation (CARE) for the controller design and one matrix equality equation (MEE) for the observer design. A coupling term related the CARE of the controller is found to be existed in the MEE of the observer. Unlike the separate principle to design the controller and observer separately without any coupling term, the design of the observer should consider the coupling term related to the CARE of the controller. The coupling problem between the controller and the observer usually exists in the linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach, and it is the main problem to be solved. The two-stage scheme is popular in the LMI approach, and the proposed method is similar to it, but adopting equality instead of inequality.

The worldwide digital Signage market has been getting increasingly popular in recent years. Nevertheless, for service providers, the digital Signage business is still not easy to manage and time-consuming to operate. In this paper, based on the GPS and wireless infrastructure, we present a mobile location-aware digital signage system (LdSS). Through the centralized system architecture, the applications for the digital Signage can be expanded to various advertising vehicles including buses and other mobile advertising vehicles. Also, we present an advertisement recommendation algorithm, by which the advertisement can be broadcasted in the right markets more effectively. Evidenced by simulated experiments and analysis, compared with traditional region trigger advertising, sequential advertising and random advertising, our advertisement recommendation algorithm can effectively reach to the key target audiences in planned regions, while show excellent ability to differentiate markets in unplanned regions reaching to the target consumer groups as well.

Core-shell CdSe-ZnS quantum dots have been one of the most actively researched nanomaterials in the past decade. In this paper we introduce thiophene thiol (TPT) as a capping ligand on the CdSe-ZnS heterostructure. These conjugated ligands allow for improved carrier transport in comparison to their saturated, long chain hydrocarbon counterparts. By demonstrating a robust and inexpensive method to deposit close packed monolayers of these nanostructures, we hope to open the door for a new family of low cost inorganic devices employing them.

Rockfall is a kind of irregular geological disaster. Its destruction time, space and movements are highly random. The impact force is determined by the way and velocity rocks move. The movement velocity of a rockfall depends on slope gradient of its moving paths, height, slope surface roughness and rock shapes. For effectively mitigate and prevent disasters brought by rockfalls, it is required to precisely calculate the moving paths of a rockfall so as to provide the best protective design. This paper applies Colorado Rockfall Simulation program (CRSP) as our study tool to discuss the impact of slope shape and surface roughness on the moving paths of a single rockfall.
