Land cover is one of the fundamental data utilized in spatial analysis for a range of applications, including climate, environment, natural resources, agriculture, forestry, planning, health, and even social issues. The demand for land cover data is diverse, ranging from global scale, regional scale, and detailed scale. Furthermore, data updates also become a necessity for users. The current trend is the requirement for more accurate and up-to-date land cover data. The growing demand for accurate and up-to-date land cover data is in sync with improvements in satellite imagery data acquisition technology, which now offers improved spatial resolution and more effective satellite imagery data processing. Satellite imagery data processing technology is also growing rapidly with the advance of artificial intelligence for semantic classification or segmentation. This research uses a deep learning approach to classify land cover on Pleiades very high-resolution satellite imagery. A post-classification enhancement is also carried out to improve the consistency and accuracy of the deep learning classification results. The preliminary research results show that post-classification enhancement with the algorithms proposed in this study can increase the accuracy of classification results using deep learning-based approaches by approximately 2%. The original Overall Accuracy and Kappa of the deep learning classification results were 0.84 and 0.79. After the post-classification enhancement process, the Overall Accuracy and Kappa values increased to 0.86 and 0.81. © 2023 ACRS. All Rights Reserved.

With the rapid development of the Internet, telemedicine information systems (TLS) appear more and more around us. Nevertheless, the security of patient’s medical infor-mation remains one of the most critical factors for the widespread adoption of TLS. Recently, Liu et al. pro-posed an improved three-factor authentication scheme. Through the BAN logic verification, their scheme is se-cure. However, the user needs to remember the long random number, which is impractical. In addition, their scheme could not withstand the fake smart card attack and a difficult-to-remember random number. In this ar-ticle, we will improve their scheme for practicality and security. © (2023), All Rights Reserved.

Nowadays, blasphemy, inter-religious hatred, and intolerance toward other people's faith become increasing problems in different social media. To effectively tackle these problems, it is necessary to develop efficient techniques for automated detection. With the increasing concern about hate speech on the internet, this research study focuses on creating and testing advanced models to identify and categorize texts related to religious hatred. Leveraging two meticulously curated datasets, the first comprising binary classification tasks to discern hate speech directed towards religion and the second featuring a nuanced five-class categorization including Blasphemy, Ethnic Hatred, Ethnic Group Hatred, Undetermined, and Non-Hatred. The main focus of the research is examining the effectiveness of different established machine learning techniques, deep learning methods, and pre-trained transformer models. Notably, the study introduces hatebnBERT, a novel BERT-based model tailored to the Bangla language's specific nuances and linguistic intricacies specifically built for hate speech detection. Through rigorous evaluation and comparative analysis, the results demonstrate the superior accuracy and precision of hatebnBERT, achieving an accuracy of 98.8% in the binary-class dataset and 98.6% in the multiclass dataset, in effectively identifying and classifying various forms of hate speech within the realm of religious discourse. The outcomes underscore the significance of leveraging specialized language models, such as hatebnBERT, to combat the proliferation of abusive speech and promote a more courteous and inclusive online social media environment within the Bangla-speaking community, considering the potentially devastating consequences of unchecked religious hatred propagation. Three-dimensional imaging of biological specimens requires high spatiotemporal resolution, but the intensive computational demands of processing continuously recorded images hinder the real-time reconstruction of millisecond cellular events. Here, we introduce projection-estimation accelerated Richardson-Lucy (PEARL) deconvolution, an accelerated 3d reconstruction technique that significantly reduces iteration requirements for image reconstruction based on Richardson-Lucy deconvolution. We validate PEARL's capabilities by imaging immuno-stained mitochondria, GFP-labeled peroxisomes, and human pluripotent stem cell-derived organoids, demonstrating enhanced reconstruction speed and accuracy across diverse biological applications.

Recently, Wei & Chen proposed a secure three-party mutual authentication protocol for RFId based on elliptic curve cryptography (ECC). Their approach can allow insecure communication between the reader and the backend, so their approach must achieve mutual authentication between the tag, reader, and backend. In addition, their method also satisfies the essential characteristics of RFId systems, such as confidentiality, anonymity, resistance to tracking attacks, and spoofing attacks. However, this article finds that its method cannot meet the mutual authentication and denial of service attacks.

Marine diesel engine start-up goes through the following speed stages: dead slow, slow, half, and full. The jacket water should be heated initially to prevent the cylinder from cracking due to excessive temperature difference. In this paper, PId temperature controller and SCAdA system are used to heat the jacket water. Experimental tests have been evaluated to improve closed loop response with PId temperature controller and SCAdA system. The heating mode calls the appropriate PId controller according to the design temperature to compare the actual temperature at different stages. The experimental results show that the PId controller converges the temperature well between 35and 80, the optimal PId parameter are P=3, I=198, d=495 with the auto tune function and the max. power supply current I=8.8A, voltage V=110V. © 2021 IEEE.

Fine particulate matter (PM2.5) emitted from marine transportation, bulk materials handling at the docks, and dust dispersion has garnered increased attention, particularly in the interface between port and urban areas. This study explored the inter-transport of PM2.5 between Kaohsiung Harbor and neighboring Metro Kaohsiung. Chemical analyses of PM2.5 samples from four sites include water-soluble ions, metallic elements, carbons, anhydrosugars, and organic acids to establish PM2.5's chemical fingerprints. The CALPUFF air dispersion model is employed to simulate the spatiotemporal distribution of PM2.5 in Kaohsiung Harbor and adjacent urban areas. A clear seasonal and diurnal variation of PM2.5 concentrations and chemical composition was observed in both harbor and urban areas. The high correlation of nighttime PM2.5 levels between the port and urban areas suggests inter-transport phenomena. Sea salt spray, ship emissions, secondary aerosols, and heavy fuel-oil boilers exhibit higher levels in the port area than in the urban area. In Metro Kaohsiung, mobile sources, fugitive dust, and waste incinerators emerge as major PM2.5 contributors. Furthermore, sea breeze significantly influences PM2.5 dispersion from Kaohsiung Harbor to Metro Kaohsiung, particularly in the afternoon. The average contribution of PM2.5 from ships' main engines in Kaohsiung Harbor ranges from 2.9% to 5.3%, while auxiliary engines contribute 3.8%–8.3% of PM2.5 in Metro Kaohsiung. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd

Over the years, the grinding wheels industry has played a crucial role in mechanical engineering. Grinding wheel specification is composed of various factors such as abrasive type, wheel grade, bond type, and more, which are derived from customer workpiece operation information. Traditionally, the determination process of grinding wheel specifications is complicated. Experienced engineers need to check out the limitation and consider the interaction of each factor. When the new specification order comes, engineers have to spend a lot of time on historical data search and discussion. Recently, the application of artificial intelligence attracts more and more attention in the manufacturing industry. Through collecting historical data, the model has the ability to extract the domain knowledge, predict the specification that does not exist, and reduce the decision time. However, when training the model, this grinding wheel specification faced multiple imbalanced targets and multi-task issues. In the past, research efforts primarily focused on studying single-task learning (STL) algorithms. Seldom of them has a systematic way to discuss the model determination of multiple targets and correlation influence, especially on the tabular-type dataset. In this study, we proposed a multiple resampling chain multi-task learning framework to address the issue of data science. To tackle the multi-task imbalance resampling problem, we also proposed a resampling strategy called Multiple Resampling Chain. Moreover, we conducted a sensitivity analysis to examine the correlation effect on model improvement. Finally, we proposed a cyber-recommendation system that integrates the training model and interface to provide a more intuitive way of specification prediction. This system not only can help engineers to improve the time spent on making decisions, but also make the whole manufacturing process to be more intelligent. © 2024 Elsevier Ltd

Background: Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PdA) is a pernicious disease characterized by an immunosuppressive milieu that is unresponsive to current immunotherapies. Interleukin-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1Ra) is a natural anti-inflammatory cytokine;however, its contribution to cancer pathogenesis and immunosuppression remains elusive. In this research, we investigated the role and mechanism of IL-1Ra in malignant progression of PdA. Results: Through analyzing clinical dataset and examining the pathological tumor tissues and serum samples, we have demonstrated that IL-1Ra expression is elevated in human PdA and positively associated with malignant progression of PdA. To study the biological function of IL-1Ra in tumors, we generated a set of mouse pancreatic cancer cell lines with a knockout (KO) of the Il1rn gene, encoding IL-1Ra, and compared the tumor growth rates in immune-competent and immune-deficient mice. We found that the Il1rn KO cells exhibited greater tumor inhibition in immune-competent mice, highlighting the crucial role of a functional immune system in Il1rn KO-mediated anti-tumor response. Consistently, we found an increase in Cd8⁺ T cells and a decrease in Cd11b⁺Ly6G⁻ immunosuppressive mononuclear population in the tumor microenvironment of Il1rn KO-derived tumors. To monitor the inhibitory effects of IL-1Ra on immune cells, we utilized a luciferase-based reporter Cd4⁺ T cell line and splenocytes, which were derived from transgenic mice expressing ovalbumin-specific T cell receptors in Cd8⁺ T cells, and mice immunized with ovalbumin. We showed that IL-1Ra suppressed T cell receptor signaling and inhibited antigen-specific interferon-γ (IFN-γ) secretion and cytolytic activity in splenocytes. Conclusions: Our findings illustrate the immunosuppressive properties of the natural anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-1Ra, and provide a rationale for considering IL-1Ra-targeted therapies in the treatment of

Recent advancements in click chemistry have made it an effective method for quickly and easily assembling extremely stable nanomaterial assemblies onto surfaces. Therefore, a new class of fluorescent sensor utilizing two-dimensional organic nanosheets (2dONs) for the selective sensing of 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine (2,4-dNph) has been proposed by using the click chemistry directed by the probe ultrasonication method (CCdPS) which is driven by the π-π stacking interactions with the aid of dMF solvent. Prolonged human exposure to 2, 4-dNph has been associated with various detrimental health consequences, including skin conditions, liver issues, and disturbances to the central nervous and cardiovascular systems. Fluorescence titration tests with nanomolar scale limit of detection (LOd, 100 nM or 0.1 μM) and limit of quantification (LOQ, 0.4 μM) for 2,4-dNph showed fluorescence quenching reactions and excellent reversibility. Additionally, zeta potential and UV-absorption spectroscopy were used to validate the interaction and binding characteristics of 2d ONs with 2,4-dNph. In contrast to the widely reported ground-state charge transfer or FRET-based probes for nitroaromatics detection, the signal response for 2,4-dNph was achieved by a strong inner filter effect with the combination of FRET (IFE-FRET). © 2024 The Korean Society of Industrial and engineering Chemistry
