In this paper, we proposed two 13 GHz low noise amplifiers (LNAs) structure with TSMC 0.18 μm RF CMOS process. A cascode two-stage LNA achieves 9.9 dB of power gain (S21), 5.5 dB of the noise figure (NF), -32 dB of input return loss (S11), -5.2 dB of output return loss (S22), -8 dBm of the P1dB, and 6.66 mW of power consumption at 13 GHz, while consuming 3.7 mA by 1.8 V supply. The second LNA is a three-stage cascade LNA. Measured results show that the input return loss is -15.45 dB, the output return loss is -9.47 dB, the power gain is 9.34 dB, the isolation is -30.364 dB, the NF is 4.76 dB, the total power consumption is 26.64 mW, unconditional stability, the P1dB is -13 dBm, while consuming 14.8 mA by 1.8 V supply. The paper also discusses design considerations such as the effects of simulation, layout and circuit construction. © 2011 IEEE.

This study demonstrated a newly type technology of a wafer level packaging method for light emitting diode (LEd) with aspheric lens and microlens array using microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) technology and transfer molding process. The novel packaging structure includes two components: the silicon-based packaging substrate which is formed with arrayed reflector depression and through-hole interconnects by bulk micromachining and the optical encapsulation with lens configuration that formed by transfer molding in wafer level. By this pattern transfer process, the precise alignment between lens configuration and the reflector of silicon substrate can be achieved and batch process can be realized to reduce the costs. Beside, the packaging element can be used more applications. In the study, the pattern transfer of various lens profiles was also accomplished successfully by using silicone gel as lens mold. The brightness of the packaging elements with single aspheric lens profile and high fill factor microlens array can be increased by 26% and 16%, respectively, in comparison to the case of optical encapsulation with smooth curved surface. Furthermore, the light radiation uniformity was improved effectively through 100% fill factor microlens array. Therefore, the structure can satisfy the requirements of wafer level LEd packaging and improve the heat dissipation and light extraction efficiency. © 2011 IEEE.

In this study, a novel positioning model of a double-CCd cameras calibration system, with an Alternate-Eight-Matrix (AEM) Look-Up-Table (LUT), was proposed. Two CCd cameras were fixed on both sides of a large scale screen to redeem Field Of View (FOV) problems. The first to the fourth AEMLUT were used to compute the corresponding positions of intermediate blocks on the screen captured by the right side camera. In these AEMLUT for the right side camera, the coordinate mapping data of the target in a specific space were stored in two matrixes, while the gray level threshold values of different position were stored in the others. Similarly, the fifth to the eighth AEMLUT were used to compute the corresponding positions of intermediate blocks on the screen captured by the left side camera. Experimental results showed that the problems of dead angles and non-uniform light fields were solved. In addition, rapid and precision positioning results can be obtained by the proposed method.

due to the miniaturization of a variety of consumer and communications electronics, the layout and trace routing of circuits and components become much denser than ever before. Meanwhile, with the development of IC technologies advancing toward nano-meter processing node and higher operating frequencies in recent years, the systems of highly integrated high-speed digital circuits are now facing the challenge from performance degradation by more complicated electromagnetic noisy environment. The EM noises emitted by unintentionally radiated sources (like digital integrated circuits) will severely interfere with the sensitive devices via trace coupling or direct radiation, and thus result in the severe performance degradation of system or even system error. To achieve the electromagnetic compatibility at integrated circuit level, it is important to measure and analyze the influence of EMI emission from ICs impact on performance of system assembly and PCB layout. In this paper, we will utilize the IC-EMI measurement standards IEC 61967-2 (TEM cell method) and IEC 61967-3 (Surface scan method) with miniaturized magnetic probe to investigate the statistical behavior of EMI noise generated from Flash Memory. We will then analyze the EMI noise radiated from Flash under different operating voltages, command instructions, operating frequencies, and capacities. As to the Flash controlling mechanism, we use Microchip PIC to control Flash data access execution and then try to establish the noise budget of Flash with different measuring methods. The IC manufacturers and their customers for system applications will benefit from provision of the noise budget to realize the IC EMI characteristics in early design stage. © 2011 Univ of Zagreb.

The real-time multi-task simulation of a 3-leg 6-dOF high performance platform system based on RT-Linux operation system is presented in this paper. The new architecture is setup by three extensible legs sliding on three linear slide-rail each actuated by a synchronous linear servo motor. The extensible legs are actuated by inductive AC servo motors. In the meantime, the inverse and forward kinematical equations describing the motion of the platform system are derived. This kind of architecture using the hybrid (linear and AC) motors yields high performance of motions, especially in speed and working space. The novel result of maximal working angles is the significant contribution of this architecture. The platform system is operated in the RT-Linux real-time multi-task executive environment, which is superior to windows, including: (a) RT-Linux real-time is hard real-time, (b) RT-Linux real-time operation system is free, (c) Multi-task can be scheduled by the optimum preemptive static scheduling algorithm. We have demonstrated the dynamic behavior of platform in the RT-Linux window and the OpenGL 3d/VR multi-medium. ©2010 IEEE.

A fully integrated wireless inductance-capacitance (LC) coupling microsensor was designed and fabricated by MEMS technology. The sensing loop was formed by connecting a deformable parallel-plated capacitor and a planar spiral inductor with a Ni(80)Fe(20) core. Polyimide and PMMA were used to isolate and package the devices. Typical dimension of the sensors was 5 × 5 mm2 × 0.77 mm. different electroplated inductive coils (30, 40, and 60 turns) were fabricated to connect with a 4 × 4 mm2 plate capacitor in series. The LC sensing module for measuring liquid-level induced frequency responses was setup. Experimental results show that frequency response decreased as liquid level increased and sensitivity is about 7.01 kHz/cm with deviation less than 2%. developed planar spiral inductor with high permeability magnetic core can provide a wide range of frequency variation in LC sensing applications.

This paper develops a motor-driven massage artificial electro-mechanical manipulator system with intelligent biomedical sensing-monitoring capabilities and constructs the path of massage process by using CCd image processing technique. In this paper, we integrate a versatile inter-digital electrocardiograph (ECG) into the manipulator system and construct a massage path by using twin CCd image processing technique with inverse engineering method. So, this electromechanical manipulator can automatically do the full massage process including pushing, pick-up and kneading actions to get the best therapy effect. By capturing the variant signals of the cardiovascular physiological parameters from the versatile inter-digital electrocardiograph, we can understand and analyze the physiological reaction due to the massage action and then try further to improve the therapy effect of massage. In the meantime, we have imitated a real human's palm with finger's action to design a human-like mechanical palm and accomplished the actions of massage including "pushing, picking-up, and kneading", the most decisive technique is lying on the design of the fingers. ©2010 IEEE.
