The aim of this review is to present a comprehensive overview of the feasibility of using transparent neural interfaces in multimodal in vivo experiments on the central nervous *** electrophysiological and neuroimaging approaches hold great potential for revealing the anatomical and functional connectivity of neuronal ensembles in the intact *** approaches are less time-consuming and require fewer experimental animals as researchers obtain denser,complex data during the combined *** devices that provide high-resolution,artifactfree neural recordings while facilitating the interrogation or stimulation of underlying anatomical features is currently one of the greatest challenges in the field of *** are numerous articles highlighting the trade-offs between the design and development of transparent neural interfaces;however,a comprehensive overview of the efforts in material science and technology has not been *** present work fills this gap in knowledge by introducing the latest micro-and nanoengineered solutions for fabricating substrate and conductive ***,the limitations and improvements in electrical,optical,and mechanical properties,the stability and longevity of the integrated features,and biocompatibility during in vivo use are discussed.

The therapeutic termination of pregnancy(TToP)is an induced abortion following a diagnosis of medical *** is applied to avoid the risk of substantial harm to the mother or in cases of fetal *** type of induced abortion is provided after the second semester of gestation if fetal illness or the pregnancy cause physical danger or pathological mental distress to the *** and economic determinants could influence the desire for children and family planning in couples,as well as the use of effective contraception and the choice to perform an induced ***,pre-existing mental health problems could affect the decision between carrying on a problematic pregnancy or having ***,the TToP is a reproductive event with an important traumatic burden,but also with an intrinsic therapeutic effect and it can produce different psychological and psychopathological effects on women and *** aim of this review is to evaluate what demographic,reproductive and psychopathological determinants are involved in the choice of undergoing a TToP in ***,we will examine both positive and negative consequences of this procedure on women’s mental health,underlying which factors are related to a worse outcome in order to provide the best clinical support to vulnerable groups.

Background: Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a significant global health concern often accompanied by cognitive impairment in affected patients. Ludwigia octovalvis extract (LOE) is a traditional medicine widely used for various conditions, including renal disease and its associated complications. However, the pharmacological effects and underlying mechanisms of LOE on CKD remain unclear. Methods: Adult male mice underwent a 4-week oral adenine-induced CKD model, followed by daily administration of either a vehicle, losartan, or LOE for 1 to 2 months. A battery of behavioral tests was conducted to examine CKD-associated cognitive impairments. Additionally, RNA sequencing, Golgi staining, and immunohistochemistry were performed to decipher the underlying mechanisms. Results: Neither losartan nor LOE supplementation could reverse adenine-induced kidney damage. However, during behavioral tests, both losartan and LOE treatments improved memory performance in mice without affecting emotional status and general locomotor activity. Transcriptome profiling and histological analyses revealed altered dendritic arborization and increased spine density of dentate granule cells, along with augmented adult hippocampal neurogenesis, contributing to the improved memory performance of mice treated with LOE. Conclusion: Our study provides comprehensive neurobehavioral and molecular evidence supporting the potential use of LOE for future CKD-associated memory dysfunction treatment. © 2024 The Author(s)

Background: Regional gray matter volume (GMV) differences between individuals with mental disorders and comparison participants may be confounded by co-occurring disorders. To disentangle disorder-specific GMV correlates, we conducted a large-scale multidisorder meta-analysis using a novel approach that explicitly models co-occurring disorders. Methods: We systematically reviewed voxel-based morphometry studies indexed in PubMed and Scopus up to January 2023 that compared adults with major mental disorders (anorexia nervosa, schizophrenia spectrum, anxiety, bipolar, major depressive, obsessive-compulsive, and posttraumatic stress disorders plus attention-deficit/hyperactivity, autism spectrum, and borderline personality disorders) with comparison participants. Two authors independently extracted data and assessed quality using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. We derived GMV correlates for each disorder using: 1) a multidisorder meta-analysis that accounted for all co-occurring mental disorders simultaneously and 2) separate standard meta-analyses for each disorder in which co-occurring disorders were ignored. We assessed the alterations’ extent, intensity (effect size), and specificity (interdisorder correlations and transdiagnostic alterations) for both approaches. Results: We included 433 studies (499 datasets) involving 19,718 patients and 16,441 comparison participants (51% female, ages 20–67 years). We provide GMV correlate maps for each disorder using both approaches. The novel approach, which accounted for co-occurring disorders, produced GMV correlates that were more focal and disorder specific (less correlated across disorders and fewer transdiagnostic abnormalities). Conclusions: This work offers the most comprehensive atlas of GMV correlates across major mental disorders. Modeling co-occurring disorders yielded more specific correlates, supporting this approach's validity. The atlas NIfTI maps are available online. © 2024 Society of Biological Psychiatry
