作者： Noel Mayo Lorraine Justice Meshella Eddye Woods Kwame Nyanning Charles Harrison Industrial designer Noel Mayo is the owner and president of Noel Mayo Associates Inc. the first African‐American industrial design firm in the United States with clients including NASA IBM the Department of Commerce and Agriculture Black and Decker the Museum of American Jewish History and the Philadelphia International Airport. Lorraine Justice PhD is currently a professor and the former dean of the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). The college houses six schools: Design American School for Crafts Art Film and Animation Photography and Print Media. Prior to joining RIT Justice was the dean of the School of Design at Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). During her tenure PolyU came to be regarded as one of the top 30 design schools in the world and one of the top 10 in Asia. Justice is the author of China's Design Revolution (MIT Press 2012). She consults for some of the top firms in the world is a TED presenter a board member for several international design journals and a Fellow of the Industrial Design Society of America. Meshella Eddye Woods holds a BA in human environment and design and has 39 years of interior architectural design and facility management experience. Her career has included performance and supervision as well as training evaluation and management of work involved in the planning design and construction of interior environments in private industry and the federal government. She offers additional expertise in computer technology as it relates to project planning and documentation program management and administration video and digital media and website design. Kwame Nyanning is vice president of experience design at McKinsey & Co. with more than 15 years' experience in product service and customer experience design in such organizations as Studio Archetype Sapient frog design Adaptive Path Infosys Technology and Native Design. He has worked with clients and organizations from Ford Motor Co. to Pernod

Noel Mayo was the first African‐American—not to mention the first African‐American industrial designer—to graduate from Philadelphia's University of the Arts. And even after that, he says, “I learned the hard way that I had to exceed all expectations.” From Pittsburgh to Columbus, Ohio, to Hong Kong to Atlanta and Rochester, New York, Dr. Lorraine Justice's career has gone from one pioneering role to the next. Looking back on a life spent creating opportunities and paving the way for those to come—in the federal government and elsewhere. “It takes a special kind of designer to be successful at a place like the Firm,” says McKinsey's vice president of experience design. During his career, Harrison executed more than 700 designs, a significant number of which were successful in the marketplace, and received the National Design Award for Lifetime Achievement in 2008. He was also Sears Roebuck's first African‐American executive. It was not easy getting there.

The creation of a product design almost always involves competing visions within the team. Business, engineering, and design all have views on what makes for a successful product. News flash: The user should be the winner in that battle. If you are a consumer, you want this human factors engineer to be on the design team.

Currently intense competition in global tourism industry has strongly enforced many countries to continuously improve service quality. Hence, the identification of superior service quality improvement strategies has become the top-concerned issue toward travel agencies' operation due to their paramount importance in stimulating sustainable competitiveness. Nonetheless, this issue has not been fully explored previously. To bridge the gap and provide practical service quality enhancement guidelines, this study through integrating and modifying IPGA and QFD concepts aims to build an IPGA-QFD model with outperforming service quality improvement capability through seeking the most feasible recovery solutions that can simultaneously handle numerous existing key service failures. Using Taiwan travel agencies as the main focus, this research attempts to integrate three major tourism service dimensions of travel agencies' internal management, network service, and local tour leaders for investigation due to this linkage missing in the extant literature. 305 valid responses out of 400 distributed survey questionnaires were obtained (76.25%). Through IPGA-QFD model implementation, effective service quality improvement solutions to existing key service failures have been found out. As such, this study provides academic research, travel agencies, and tourism-related authorities with an innovative method and useful guidelines for promoting service quality and thus sustainable competitiveness.

The paper introduces some challenges of the fast growing mortgage market in Poland, being also the next step of research presented in previous publications, showing the complete process of building and verifying three submodels for the internet mortgage market. The sub-models are described for three market situations, i.e. stable market, crisis, and boom, then the variables within the models are analyzed statistically (e.g. correlation level) and finally the models are verified. The paper presents the process of verification of submodel nr 3 (fast growing market) as an example of the verification process that was applied. The paper concludes with directions for further research in this area leading to the ultimate application of the proposed model in a real life prognosis process. © 2012 The authors and IOS Press. Conventional approach for solving the replenishment lot size problem is by using differential calculus on the long-run average production cost function with the need to prove optimality first. Recent studies proposed an algebraic approach to the solution of classic economic order quantity (EOQ) and the economic production quantity (EPQ) models without reference to the use of derivatives. This paper extends it to the solution of a specific EPQ model as was examined by Chiu et al. [Chiu, S. W, Chen, K. -K, Lin, H. -D. Numerical method for determination of the optimal lot size for amanufacturing system with discontinuous issuing policy and rework. As a result, optimal replenishment lot size and a simplified optimal production-inventory cost formula for such a particular EPQ model can be derived without derivatives. Reducing environmental impacts has become the main concern for organizations *** supply chain management has become crucial for proactive firms to gain market share through the reduction of environmental impacts in green *** proposed criteria are expected to have interactive and hierarchical relations in *** study employs fuzzy interpretive structural modeling(ISM) to interpret interactive relations into linguistic preferences and to compose the criteria into a hierarchical structure to provide the overall view of green supply chain management in environmental performance improvement. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications are changing the way businesses are run. IT Offshoring is changing the way IT Organizations are run. The benefits of implementing ERP's and Offshoring are tremendous. However ERP implementations are prone to risks and IT Offshoring is also fraught with risks. And when both ERP implementation and IT Offshoring happen together, the risks get even more pronounced. This is what provides the motivation for this research. Contemporary research has been done on success of ERP implementations. Likewise research has also been done on Offshoring. However research has not been done on ERP implementations and Offshoring together i.e. on ERP implementations which get offshored. Thus there emanates a strong need for a research study which endeavours to elicit the critical success factors for Offshoring of ERP implementations. This paper presents the research findings of the study on Critical Success Factors for Offshoring of ERP Implementations. The geography under consideration for this study is US. © 2011 IEEE.
