In this paper, starting from a model already existing in the SPICE library of a NPN bipolar transistor, the parameters of this model are verified, and some models are proposed for extracting these parameters from the datasheet. The validation of these parameters is done in SPICE simulations comparing the results with the information from the datasheet. The following parameters of the NPN bipolar transistor are validated: amplification factor, transition factor, emitter resistance, base resistance, collector resistance, IRB, BF, BR, IKS, IS, ISE, VAF, CJE, CJC.

This study examines the techno-economic implications of integrating the produced electricity from photovoltaic power plants (PVPP) with varying installed capacities to enhance the profitability of the planned pumped-storage hydro power plant (PSHPP) Tashmarunishta in North Macedonia. The analysis focuses on optimizing the PV power plant capacity to meet water-pumping demands and maximize the PSHPP’s annual gross profit. Utilizing data from the PSHPP Tashmarunista’s pre-investment study and hourly production data from simulations performed in PV*SOL premium, the research incorporates financial modeling based on HUPX hourly market prices for 2023, alongside sensitivity analyses for average electricity prices from 2016–2024. The results reveal that the PSHPP operates at a financial loss without the use of PV energy, while coupling with PV energy achieves positive annual gross profit. The findings underscore the technical and economic advantages of synergizing PSHPP’s with photovoltaic power plants, demonstrating a scalable model for future energy integration strategies.

This paper deals with a problem of precise jumping for legged robots: what are the control inputs required to perform a jump that results in a desired landing point? We propose a novel precise jump planning method, formulated as a bilevel optimization problem. The presented formulation exploits certain insights into the jump dynamics, leading to a low-dimensional optimization problem, and allowing fast computation. During the Flight phase of a jump there are no external forces other than gravity acting on the robot, so its centroidal angular momentum (CAM) is conserved, and its center of mass (COM) follows a ballistic trajectory. This trajectory depends solely on COM position and velocity at Liftoff. We define a bilevel optimization problem consisting of a nonlinear upper-level problem, and a lower-level quadratic programming (QP) problem. The upper-level problem selects COM position and velocity at Liftoff that result in a desired landing point, while minimizing CAM at Liftoff. The lower-level problem selects ground reaction forces during Push-Off that achieve desired COM position and velocity at Liftoff. The results are presented on a simulated one-legged robot, but the proposed approach can be extended to bipeds and multi-legged robots.

For the symbolic, partial - symbolic and numeric analysis of the linear or/and analogic circuits generation a performing simulation program was elaborated- called ACAP-Analogic Circuit Analysis Program. Analyzed circuits via ACAP may contain linear and nonlinear resistors, inductors, and capacitors, independent voltage and current sources, all four types of linear controlled sources and in general any multiterminal or/and multi-port circuit, having an equivalent circuit made up of only two-terminal electrical elements of all two-port controlled sources. Furthermore, we proved that both ACAP is handy tools for analysis and design of the nonlinear time-invariant analog circuits because we can keep as the symbols only parameters associated with these circuit elements. The work concludes with some illustrative examples.

The paper analyzes the preparation of software for acoustic signal classification with machine learning techniques for microcontrollers. The design process was tested for three types of devices: Nordic Thingy:53, *** and Arduino Nano 33 BLE Sense Lite. The classifier training process was carried out using the Edge Impulse platform. Experimental studies were carried out for the process of classifying sound signals generated by the vacuum cleaner motor. The results of the training and the model test were presented for different configurations.

As it is known the passive components like the resistor, the coil and the capacitor in reality are not ideal components and have a nonlinear component. In this paper is started from the real equivalent circuit of a capacitor and is created a nonlinear SPICE model whose static capacity varies with voltage. The correctness of the SPICE model is studied on the capacitive region of the capacitor. Also, a study of the behavior of the SPICE model without considering the variation with temperature, aging, ESL and ESR will be presented. All to be considered in a future paper. The behavior of the SPICE model is compared with the behavior of the real capacitor and with the SPICE behavior of the capacitor proposed by the component manufacturer.

Last decade has seen major improvements in the performance of artificial intelligence which has driven wide-spread applications. Unforeseen effects of such massad-option has put the notion of AI safety into the public eye. AI safety is a relatively new field of research focused on techniques for building AI beneficial for humans. While there exist survey papers for the field of AI safety, there is a lack of a quantitative look at the research being conducted. The quantitative aspect gives a data-driven insight about the emerging trends, knowledge gaps and potential areas for future research. In this paper, bibliometric analysis of the literature finds significant increase in research activity since 2015. Also, the field is so new that most of the technical issues are open, including: explainability and its long-term utility, and value alignment which we have identified as the most important long-term research topic. Equally, there is a severe lack of research into concrete policies regarding AI. As we expect AI to be the one of the main driving forces of changes, AI safety is the field under which we need to decide the direction of humanity's future.

This work tries to contribute to the design of legged robots with capabilities boosted through thrusterassisted locomotion. Our long-term goal is the development of robots capable of negotiating unstructured environments, including land and air, by leveraging legs and thrusters collaboratively. These robots could be used in a broad number of applications including search and rescue operations, space exploration, automated package handling in residential spaces and digital agriculture, to name a few. In all of these examples, the unique capability of thruster-assisted mobility greatly broadens the locomotion designs possibilities for these systems. In an effort to demonstrate thrusters effectiveness in the robustification and efficiency of bipedal locomotion gaits, this work explores their effects on the gait limit cycles and proposes new design paradigms based on shaping these center manifolds with strong foliations. Unilateral contact force feasibility conditions are resolved in an optimal control scheme.

In this work, a comparative analysis of the performance and efficiency of the FCS-MPC and Modulation FBQ applied to an AFE active front rectifier is carried out. The above compares quality indicators of form in the input current of an AFE, THD, and WTHD rectifier. For efficiency, the conduction and commutation losses in the switches will be estimated to obtain a selection criterion between these two control methods, which will be based on the efficiency of the converter and the performance of the input current loop. The semiconductors losses are calculated by linear mathematical approximations, which depend on the operation point of the AFE rectifier and the switch parameters, which are obtained from the datasheet provided by the switch manufacturer, which for this work, IGBT IKW25T120 was selected. Finally, for the performance analysis, satisfactory simulation results were obtained.

In the general context of COVID-19 teaching methods and techniques are directed to the virtual environment. While for courses this is not a major issue for laboratory practice is a big step back. In order to address this problem, we proposed a teaching methodology based on visual instructions that can help students develop the necessary practice skills while being in a safe environment.
