This work intends to improve research on artificial neural network model of the Electric Power Exchange using Date of the Day Ahead Market in MATLAB and Simulink environment using Evolutionary Algorithm inspired by quantum computer science. The developed artificial neural network was initially trained using data for the Day Ahead Market, assuming the joint volume of supplied and sold electrical energy as the input quantities in each hour of the twenty for hours day, and average prices as output quantities. The obtained model of the exchange system was then improved using the evolutionary algorithm. Lastly, we have proposed further improvement to the accuracy of the model, by supplementing the existing evolutionary algorithm with Quantum Inspired Evolutionary Algorithm as a solutions type of Hybrid Intelligent Systems, such as the initial population, crossover and mutation operators, selection, fitness function etc. The reprint shows how you can build a model of artificial neural network inspired by quantum solutions in Simulink environment, which is the purpose of further research.

Prediction of active compounds from SMILES codes using backpropagation algorithm

An active compound is a compound which has therapeutic and pharmacological activity that directly impacts the diagnosis, recuperation, palliation, therapy, or prevention of disease. Every active compound has a Simplified Molecular Input Line Entry System (SMILES) code. SMILES, proposed by Weininger, is a chemical notation system which represents a simple molecule structure. There are correlations between a molecule’s structure and its activities in that chemicals of similar structures have similar biological activities. This paper will find patterns of SMILES code using a backpropagation algorithm. This method is chosen because of its good ability to make predictions. Prediction of compound activities is interesting because there are a large number of active compounds in the PubChem dataset, but only a few have a known activity. To find an active compound function one uses laboratory tests to extract the compound’s activities. To predict the compound’s activities, the first phase is to extracts features of the SMILES code. After that, these features are extracted are used as inputs to backpropagation algorithms. The results of testing show that these backpropagation algorithms are successful at predicting an active compound, with an average accuracy of 87.5%.

In this paper, we present Bengali word embeddings and it's application in the classification of news documents. Word embeddings are multi-dimensional vectors that can be created by exploiting the linguistic context of the words in large corpus. To generate the embeddings, we collected Bengali news document of last five years from the major daily newspapers. Word embeddings are generated using the Neural Network based language processing model Word2vec. We use the vector representations of the Bengali words to cluster them using K-means algorithm. We show that those clusters can be used directly to perform various natural language processing task by solving the problem of Bengali news document classification. We use the Support Vector Machine (SVM) for the classification task and achieve ~91% Fl-score. The accuracy of our method demonstrates that our word embeddings could capture the semantics of word from the respective context correctly.

In 1991 Icek Ajzen has demonstrated that the behavior of every human being is subject to his intentions toward any specific behavior. Recently, the study of intentions as a direct construct to predict behavior has been prevalent. Moreover, many researchers in psychology are increasingly interested in studying intentions to explain planned behaviors. However, remarkably, many researchers in various fields in business and management are using these theories to explain and interpret managerial dilemmas. The aim of this paper is to draw a theoretical framework to Lebanese researchers who are trying to measure and enhance the performance of public sector organizations, by combining the theory of planned behavior and the technology acceptance model. We assume that these intentions model will help in predicting the intentions of Lebanese university employees to use and implement a balanced scorecard and an information system.

This paper introduces a novel arterial blood pressure (ABP) signal model that generates statistically accurate synthetic signals with known characteristics. Using parameter identification from real ABP signals to form base parameter templates, our model applies stochastic processes to modulate cardiac cycle period and shape. A real-time control component modulates model parameters between cycle boundaries to emulate properties of real cardiovascular signals, such as arrhythmia, ectopic beats, resonances in the heart-rate variability spectrum, and respiratory cycle modulation of ABP signal amplitude. We present several examples to illustrate the capability of the proposed model.

This paper describes the simulation of a microgrid system with storage technologies. The microgrid comprises 6 distributed generators (DGs), 3 loads and a 150 kW storage unit. The installed capacity of the generators is 1100 kW, while the total load demand is 900 kW. The simulation is performed by using a SCADA software, considering the power generation costs, the loads demand and the system’s power losses. The generators access the system in order of their power generation cost. The simulation is performed for the entire day.

In this paper, parametric and numerical model of the motors of a robot are extracted. A method is proposed here to control the torque and velocity of the motor simultaneously using the extracted dynamics of the motor and consequently control the robot motion more accurately. Parametric model of the motors are derived by conducting standard tests like locked rotor test and step and sine wave input test. In order to derive the neural network and numerical models, a set of sinusoidal, triangular, and random steps signal, are applied as the input to the motor and its speed is recorded as the output. Neural network model of the motors is extracted by using these dataset and considering the MLP neural network structure with Levenberg _Marquardt training method. Results of the numerical model and parametric models are compared and validated by experimental tests.

Online Social Networks (OSNs) tipically exploit logically centralized infrastructure. The centralized nature of OSNs has several drawbacks including scalability, privacy, and dependence on a provider. Specifically, OSN privacy has become a major concern, particularly privacy and protection from massive data-mining and big-brotherly treatment of the users by the social networking service providers. In contrast to centralized OSNs, a distributed online social network helps to lower the cost of the provider drastically, and allows better control of user privacy. This has several consequences: in terms of privacy, no central data collection, nor any central entity that decides or changes the terms of service. In this paper we focus on the definition of P2P Distributed Online Social Network (DOSN) paradigm and propose a new approach to P2P DOSN based on Dunbar's number, which bounds the number of people one knows and keeps social contacts with.

Traditionally, thumb print and iris pattern are used for person identification as biometric features. Use of ear is recent biometric evolution for identification. A system is presented here for person identification using ear features. Digitally captured ear image is processed to extract ear features (Helix rim, Lobule, Triangularfossa, Concha and Tragus) and stored in database for matching process. Matching process uses projection lines to quantify ear features. Matching process gives matched profile as a result of system in graphical format as well as textual format with tolerance limit of ± 15%.

The continuous devices shrinking has introduced new challenges to integrated circuit design, mainly to deal with the overall yield loss (Beckett 2002). Designers start to take into account process variability impact in the early design stages to successful deal with yield loss. Process variability have a critical effect on integrated circuits increasing power consumption to out of design specifications, accelerating circuit degradation or introducing erroneous circuit functionality. This work proposes two main contributions to improve yield: explore regular detailed routing reducing the number of vias and explore new approaches of basic cells in a regular layout synthesis.
