This paper addresses the interesting problem of processing and analyzing data in geographic information systems (GIS) to achieve a clear perspective on urban sprawl. The term "urban sprawl" refers to overgrowth and expansion of low-density areas with issues such as car dependency and segregation between residential versus commercial use. Sprawl has impacts on the environment and public health. In our work, spatiotemporal features related to real GIS data on urban sprawl such as population growth and demographics are mined to discover knowledge for decision support. We adapt data mining algorithms, Apriori for association rule mining and J4.8 for decision tree classification to geospatial analysis, deploying the ArcGIS tool for mapping. Knowledge discovered by mining this spatiotemporal data is used to implement a prototype spatial decision support system (SDSS). This SDSS predicts whether "urban sprawl" is likely to occur. Further, it estimates the values of pertinent variables to understand how the variables impact each other. The SDSS can help decision-makers identify problems and create solutions for avoiding future sprawl occurrence and conducting urban planning where sprawl already occurs, thus aiding sustainable development. This work falls in the broad realm of geospatial intelligence and sets the stage for designing a large scale SDSS to process big data in complex environments, which constitutes part of our future work. © 2021, CC BY-SA.

A In the medical field, the Image dispensation techniques are extensively employed for image amelioration in finding and treatment of lung disease in the big data environment, where the point in time feature is very paramount to determine the idiosyncrasy issues in intention images, particularly in lung disease such as cancer, pneumonia, COVID-19 etc, for early detection and treatment stages of lungs disease, Image processing technique are widely used for identification of genetic as well as environmental factors are very important in developing a novel method of lung disease prevention. The core factors of this research are quality, time, and precision of the dataset. The modification and evaluation of image quality depend on the segmentation techniques, an improved area of the object that is utilized as a rudimentary substructure of feature extraction is obtained and comparison is made on relying feature. Medical images are analyzed by different segmentation techniques of image processing. The segmentation techniques are used dataset to find patterns and retrieve information from the dataset for processing. The goal of this study is discussed various image processing techniques and big data analytics tools for lung disease has been given in the tabular form and provides comparative study. This study provides minutiae of big data analytics tools and image processing techniques, specifically discussed in the context of lung disease images.

Due to the complex and dynamic nature of virtual machine allocation in the cloud, it is difficult to manage and control the resources or to choose the best allocation of these resources. In this paper, we propose an optimal model for allocating computing resources to assess the best management of system resources where a group of physical machines is defined as "reserves". The controller activates them one by one when the system has a high number of tasks. The objective is to maximize the reward of the cloud computing system. This reward is calculated based on the energy and execution time of each customer and the characteristics of the system. Finding the best allocation for such a complex system is a challenge. For this, we used a heuristic algorithm and dynamic programming approach. The results analysis showed the advantage of using our model to control the use of reserve machines to get high quality of service and low energy consumption. © 2021. All Rights Reserved.

Knowledge and its construction are the basis of the information used in society to meet life's challenges. Social innovation laboratories are an alternative that uses the open innovation approach to co-create knowledge. This article presents the validation of the K-Social-C questionnaire that measures the processes of social construction of knowledge from the open innovation approach. The instrument is structured in 5 parts, the first two to collect demographic data and the following 3 involve the mentioned constructs to present in an objective way the measurement of the constructs and their variables established by the literature. Expert evaluation was used to determine through statistical techniques the Kendall concordance coefficient and the content validity coefficient that confirm that K-Social-C is a valid and reliable questionnaire. The results of the validation will continue to be consolidated with the application of the questionnaire in the various laboratories where it is used to collect data. © 2020 ACM.

Thermalization of fluorescent protein exciton-polaritons at room temperature

Fluorescent proteins (FPs) have recently emerged as a serious contender for realizing ultra-low threshold room temperature exciton-polariton condensation and lasing. Our contribution investigates the thermalization of FP microcavity exciton-polaritons upon optical pumping under ambient conditions. We realize polariton cooling using a new FP molecule, called mScarlet, coupled strongly to the optical modes in a Fabry-Pérot cavity. Interestingly, at the threshold excitation energy (fluence) of ~9 nJ/pulse (15.6 mJ/cm2), we observe an effective temperature, Teff ~350 ± 35 K close to the lattice temperature indicative of strongly thermalized exciton-polaritons at equilibrium. This efficient thermalization results from the interplay of radiative pumping facilitated by the energetics of the lower polariton branch and the cavity Qfactor. Direct evidence for dramatic switching from an equilibrium state into a metastable state is observed for the organic cavity polariton device at room temperature via deviation from the Maxwell-Boltzmann statistics at k1 = 0 above the threshold. Thermalized polariton gases in organic systems at equilibrium hold substantial promise for designing room temperature polaritonic circuits, switches, and lattices for analog simulation. © 2022, CC BY-NC-SA.

We characterize k–colorability of a simplicial graph via the intrinsic algebraic structure of the associated right-angled Artin group. The purpose of this article is to give a characterization of families of expander graphs via right-angled Artin groups. We prove that a sequence of simplicial graphs {Γi}i∈ forms a family of expander graphs if and only if a certain natural mini-max invariant arising from the cup product in the cohomology rings of the groups {A(Γi)}i∈ agrees with the Cheeger constant of the sequence of graphs, thus allowing us to characterize expander graphs via cohomology. This result is proved in the more general framework of vector space expanders, a novel structure consisting of sequences of vector spaces equipped with vector-space-valued bilinear pairings which satisfy a certain mini-max condition. These objects can be considered to be analogues of expander graphs in the realm of linear algebra, with a dictionary being given by the cup product in cohomology, and in this context represent a different approach to expanders that those developed by Lubotzky-Zelmanov and Bourgain-Yehudayoff. The progressive contribution of renewables is key to decarbonize electricity systems. However, high shares of intermittent renewables remain a worldwide concern. Least Cost Capacity Expansion models are heavily led by short- sighted cost criteria and they do not take into account the feedback on the hourly electricity markets influencing investments. Their outcomes are often unrealistic and cannot come true with the current market rules, as they would require huge hidden subsidies because the captured price by non-dispatchable renewables would be often below the market price. Inductive approaches – based on actual hourly production from renewables and assigning the expected cost trends to each one of the technologies – would yield more realistic, actionable solutions. The aim of this paper is to present a planning approach for the new installed capacity, Inductive Projection Planning (IPP), an advanced tool that optimizes with respect to multiple objectives, has been developed using the Spanish case as an example. The necessity of CSP for a true energy transition in shown, avoiding excessive fossil-fueled backup generation.

TITLE: 從加護病房家屬觀點探究重症病情告知的經驗. 背景: 病情告知是減少醫病認知落差的重要步驟，且能減輕家屬心理壓力。現階段研究仍缺乏家屬對重症病情告知經驗及需求之探討。. 目的: 瞭解重症家屬病情告知經驗及過程需求。. 方法: 採描述現象學，立意取樣5位加護病房疾病嚴重度≥ 20分的病人家屬進行深度訪談。以Giorgi現象學分析法，利用Nvivo 11分析歸納資料。. 結果: 整體經驗包含四大主題：（一）訊息聽了無法懂，希望疑問詳細解、（二）無助找尋為解答，期望護理來幫忙、（三）託付專業卻無奈，渴望醫療多些愛、（四）重重難關多牽絆，盼望見解來割斷。. 結論／實務應用: 病情告知著重傳遞結果，家屬無法理解病情變化原因。本研究建議醫療專業人員應體認家屬認知程度，並顧及其情緒反應，納入家屬需求及期待，以病人為中心提供個別化告知。.;BACKGROUND: Truth-telling is an important step toward reducing the cognitive gap between physicians and patients as well as reducing the psychological pressures applied to physicians by family members. There is a lack of research on the truth-telling experience and needs in the intensive care unit from the perspective of patient family members. PURPOSE: This study is designed to explore the experiences and needs of families in the intensive care unit. METHODS: A descriptive phenomenology method was used in this study. In-depth interviews were conducted with five participants who had family members assessed with acute physiology and chronic health evaluation II scores ≥ 20. Data were analyzed using Giorgi's phenomenological methods and Nvivo 11. RESULTS: Four experience themes were examined, including (1) nothing is clear, requires explanation;(2) helpless to find answers, need a nurse to resolve this issue;(3) professional conduct makes us feel helpless, longing for love from the medical team;(4) decisions are very difficult, hoping to get more help. CONCLUSIONS / IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE: The family members expressed that they were unable to understand the underlying causes of the progression in patient condition because the medical team only presented outcomes to the family and did not discuss related causes. Thus, it is recommended that medical teams learn to recognize the cognitive processes of patient family members and consider their emotions, including their needs and expectations, in order to provide individualized explanations based on a patient's status and progress.
