Majority of today's web traffic consists of highresolution videos for streaming, conferencing, and surveillance. Transmitting raw video over the web demands high bandwidth, creating a pressing need for effective compression. In this paper, we focus on compressing videos captured by moving agentssuch as drones or vehicles-used in IoT-based surveillance systems. Our method exploits 3D scene geometry and camera poses to reduce redundancy while preserving quality. Unlike approaches that rely on Structure-from-Motion, we employ an efficient Simultaneous Localization & Mapping (SLAM) technique for camera localization that can run on typical IoT devices with limited computational power. We analyze the application of SLAM for video compression and tackle the practical challenges inherent to SLAM systems. Simulation results demonstrate significant compression gains and a notable reduction in computational complexity compared to stare-of-the-art SfM methods. This makes the proposed approach highly suitable for video streaming in modern web communications and IoT applications.

With over 43,000 kilometers of aerial network, the Khorasan Razavi Province electricity distribution company (KEDC) has the longest distribution network in Iran. In its capacity as a prominent organization, this company has extended the number of tele-control RTUs from 250 to 1530, increasing by more than six times since 2019. This project has resulted in the management of 1529 MW-hours of network energy in 2023. A significant improvement was also achieved in the System Average Interruption Duration Index (SAIDI) (one of the most important reliability indicators in the electricity networks), which was reduced by 63% from 166 minutes in 2020 to 63 minutes in 2023. Although automation has been one of the contributing factors to this decrease, it is comprehensively addressed in this article. Furthermore, during the year 2023, 14565 close/trip commands for emergency load management of a total of 5226 MW have been executed. Since similar companies have invested in this area, one of the major challenges is the modeling and surveying of the effects of the increase in tele-control numbers on the SAIDI. For this purpose, an innovative model has been developed to establish the relationship between tele-control numbers and SAIDI. It serves as a useful reference for the comprehensive statistical analysis of the distribution network presented in this article. This model also has the advantage of calculating profits and predicting the SAIDI status of the network without implementing tele-control RTUs. The information provided here is essential for calculating the benefits of the tele-control projects and can be used to justify any investment in future projects. According to the proposed model, the SAIDI index would have increased to 147 minutes in 2023, instead of 63 minutes, without the implementation of the aforementioned project at the Khorasan Razavi electricity distribution company. This Article Proposes a modified method of adaptive controlling for the DC motor and it is deriver circuit based on Inverse Neural controller. The proposed controller composed of two parts: the first is the inverse neural control that will control the speed of the direct current motor and, the second is adaptive correction factor that will act as an adaptive compensator to overcome the error (offset) in the steady state response of the motor (eliminate the steady state error). The obtained results prove that the new method successfully controlled the DC motor speed by eliminating the error in the steady state response, and letting the output correctly tracking the input set-point with minimum rising time and minimum peak overshoot. Simulation done using MATLAB SIMULINK. Results compared with the conventional Inverse Neural controller to demonstrate the impact of the proposed method also a load test had been done. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

IR (Infra-Red) detectors are widely used in Space-borne remote sensing satellites. In order to achieve a high signal to noise ratio, the IR detectors need to be operated at cryogenic temperatures. Traditionally, the cryogenic cooling of these detectors is achieved using passive cooling techniques. However recent trend is to employ Stirling-cycle based miniaturized active cryocoolers. An accurate and stringent control of active cryocooler cold-tip temperature is essential to accomplish high signal & image quality from the IR detectors. This paper presents work on investigations and comparison of performance of proposed 2-DOF (2-Degrees-of-Freedom) versus traditional 1-DOF feedback-control structures for the control of cryocooler cold-tip temperature used in IR (Infra-Red) detectors of Space Satellites. Towards this, first-principle based control oriented mathematical model simulated in Matlab/Simulink is proposed to support such investigation and controller tuning. Open-loop (system) and closed-loop (controls) simulation results are tuned & validated with the experimental data obtained from the Lab-scale test-setup of a commercial Stirlingcryocooler. The performance of 2-DOF feedback control structures are analyzed with the help of experiment results offering a better cold-tip temperature control performance. © 2018

Sequential heuristic optimisation of a real offshore wind farm site considering turbine placement and cable layout

Competition within the energy generation industry provides an incentive for developers to build offshore wind farms with a low levelised cost of energy. Therefore, there is a need for design optimisation to reduce costs and increase energy capture. A sequential approach to optimise turbine placement and cable layout is presented, using a heuristic k-opt algorithm and mixed-integer linear programming respectively. Energy storage is considered as a means to further improve the cable selection process. A case study is carried out on the Lillgrund offshore wind farm and the resulting layout improves energy capture by 6%. Cable costs are increased but the electrical losses are reduced such that there is an overall saving over the project lifetime of 20%. Energy storage as a means to peak shave the power seen by a cable in order to reduce electrical losses or de-rate a cable section was found to be impractically large and not profitable. Future work will consider secondary revenue streams to remedy this.

This paper proposes a real time emulator for Photovoltaic Generator (PVG), permitting easy experimentation, for control and diagnosis algorithms tests. The DS1104 platform is utilized in order to implement the model developed in Matlab/Simulink software. The APS1102A Programmable DC/AC Power Source is utilized to emulate the current-voltage characteristics of the PVG model implemented in the DS1104 platform. The proposed emulator is tested and validated by considering real conditions variations (namely, temperature and irradiance), and as well as, by injecting some frequently occurring PVG faults. The PVG emulator proposed shows a perfect reproduction of the current-voltage (I-V) characteristics, and can easily handle control and diagnostic algorithms.

This paper presents placement of FACTS controllers by using genetic algorithm for single objective optimization and strength Pareto evolutionary algorithm for three objective optimization simultaneously in power systems. The testing is done using Matlab on IEEE 30 bus system. Placement of two types of FACT devices is carried out for single objective optimization three objective optimization and the result of the three objective optimization are compared with the base case. The system is uniformly loaded for optimization at 110 % and 120%. Two FACTS are considered for placement i) TCSC Thyristor controlled series capacitor ii) SVC (Static Var compensator) in order to improve the branch loading index of the system, reduce losses and improve the voltage stability index. The placement of FACTs is obtained with location, type and value.
