In this study, we demonstrated a novel micro periodic domain (MPD), results in rough surface on a silicon wafer, formed by self-assembled nano particles (SANP) and observed a 100 fold improvement in SERS signal for detection of Colon cancer miRNA21 on Au coated nano mushroom periodic domains compared to uniform nano mushroom domain on Si wafer. The single layer deposition on Silicon wafer is achieved by using the in house developed self-assembly deposition technique . The mono layer retains the shape of hexagonal arrangement in between nano particles and forms a periodic micro domains. © 17CBMS-0001.

Potential changes in the air pollutant spatial gradient may modify the performance of air quality networks, affecting function fulfillment. This study aims to elucidate, for the first time, whether the air quality networks’ design may be sustained over time. For that, temporal-spatial indicators were assessed in the long term. Particulate matter data (2005–2022) monitored by two target air quality networks (interior southwest European region) were regarded as a case study. The approach was applied to 2005–2022 particulate matter data. Broadly, the implementation of current European legislation (from 2008) has translated into a noticeable decrease in pollution levels. Polluting disparities were observed within the same fixed station category (urban, suburban, and rural). Diverse fixed monitoring stations showed different long-term pollution sceneries, evidencing varied exposure contexts. Distinct spatial patterns (quali- and quantitatively) were observed at global and local levels. Although the annual average PM2.5/PM10 ratio remains stable, suggesting common emission sources, the legislative limit exceedances are not sustained over the study due to fluctuating environmental conditions. Meteorological variables, particularly temperature, consistently impact particulate matter. Variable long-time environmental pollution situations may affect the performance of air quality networks. Based on a solid body of evidence, this work reveals needing to assess the long-time performance of air quality networks to secure the adequate fulfillment of their functions, given that non-redundant stations can become redundant ones and vice versa, thereby serving as a helpful methodology to complement current European air quality directives due to the lack of harmonized methodologies to achieve such an objective. © The Author(s) 2025.

In the past few years, aluminum alloys have been widely used in the field of automation, aeronautical, and heavy industries due to their light weight, high specific strength, high corrosion resistance, and excellent formability. However, the properties related to microstructure and dispersed medium are constant throughout the past research. The present research work is focused on the tensile tests of LM25 (reinforced with 10% SiC) metal matrix composites (MMCs) for its applications in aerospace industry through ultrasonic treatment (UST) of the liquid melt by varying the ultrasonic sonotrode (US) power and ultrasonic frequency. The high intensity UST is carried out on the LM25 MMCs reinforced with 10% SiC (proportion by weight) in a temperature range between 850 and 750 °C. The preheated mold at 250 °C temperature is used to cast the liquid melt after the UST. The castings are produced by varying time intervals and temperature ranges at distinct US power levels such as (a) 65% and (b) 75%. The casting process samples are prepared as per ASTM standard for tensile tests to reveal the effects of the UST. In the present investigation, the effects of UST on melt temperature, processing time, US power, and ultrasonic frequency (kHz) are studied in detail.

In order to ensure a viable future for the human race, we must learn to prevent, reduce, reuse and recycle waste. The reuse of mine waste converts waste into valuable products. Nowadays many of the proposed reuse and recycling perceptions for mine wastes are not economical. Subsequently, the greater percentage of mine wastes are still being dumped in waste storage facilities which isa great danger to the surrounding. Extensive research efforts are needed to create cost-effective reutilizing and recycling possibilities and to prevent the movement of impurities from waste depositories in the long term. The proposed research focuses on using copper slag, an unwanted product during the process of copper in a constructive way in the construction industry.

The increasing demand for eco-friendly packaging materials has driven extensive research into biodegradable alternatives. This paper focuses on enhancing starch-based films' mechanical and water barrier properties by incorporating electrospun PLLA fibers, with oxidized sucrose introduced as novel crosslinking agent. Varying oxidized sucrose concentrations (3–15 wt%) were examined for their impact on the films structure and performance. Results demonstrate that oxidized sucrose functionates as both an effective crosslinker and compatibilizer, improving integration between the starch matrix and PLLA fibers. This dual functionality contributes to a more cohesive and durable film structure, providing significant enhancements over non-crosslinked films. The formulation with 9 wt% oxidized sucrose exhibited a tensile strength of 1.8 MPa and an elongation at break of 40%, surpassing traditional alternatives. Additionally, water barrier properties reached the expected standards, positioning this film as highly promising for practical applications. These findings highlight the potential of oxidized sucrose to advance biodegradable packaging solutions. © 2025, The Authors. All rights reserved.

In the prosthetic field, quantifying interfacial pressure distribution between the amputee's residual limb and the socket's internal environment is imperative for developing new technologies. However, the commercially available pressure sensors have several disadvantages, namely external power supply requirements, low stability, high cost, and complexities related to integrating the sensor system into prosthetic devices. Herein, we propose a self-powered triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG) based flexible tactile sensor array system to monitor prosthetic socket internal pressure distribution in real-time. The proposed sensor consists of biocompatible polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) polymer and polycaprolactone (PCL) nanofiber membranes as triboelectric materials. The biodegradable PCL nanofiber membrane, fabricated via a scalable and cost-effective electrospinning process, possesses a high surface area-to-volume ratio, facilitating enhanced charge generation during triboelectrification. The as-fabricated TENG-based tactile sensor is highly stable up to 10,000 cycles. Furthermore, the voltage of the tactile sensor is independent of different temperature and humidity values, demonstrating the stability of the sensor under various environmental conditions. Finally, we successfully integrated the tactile sensor array within a prosthetic device to monitor real-time pressure distribution inside the prosthetic socket during gait simulation. We believe that the proposed novel design provides a new dimension for the rapid development of self-powered, low-cost, and highly stable pressure monitoring systems with considerable potential for commercialization. © 2023 Elsevier Ltd

Increasing the concentration of greenhouse gases causes rising in globalwarming and carbon dioxide emissions. With further efforts to reducecarbon dioxide, it is possible to prevent the warming of the earth, but theeffects of climate change that we have already created can not be *** observed and predicted alterations in the global climate require adouble policy to react to the decline in climate alteration and its adjustment(coexistence) to explain the key factors and their effects. Measuresto reduce climate alteration through decreasing greenhouse gas releasesor removing them from the atmosphere are possible. Execution of morereduction measures at the present time will require less adaptation in thefuture. Meanwhile, inadequate measures to curb climate change presentlyincrease the risk of catastrophic consequences, so that adjustment costs willrise unreasonably and adaptive capacity will face further constraints. Climatechange adaptation measures concentrate in increasing our capabilityto deal with or prevent damaging effects or the use of new *** temperature and changes visible today due to climate changemean that adaptation strategies should be applied. In this paper, strategiesfor reducing climate change and adaptation are reviewed and various strategiesare presented. Meanwhile, this paper looks at the economies affectedby climate change, our involvement to climate alteration, and the ways inwhich the economy has influenced climate change and the ways in which itcan provide logical options.

The electrocatalytic activity and electronic conductivity of 2D transition metal chalcogenides are usually enhanced by as follows the ideal strategy such as doping or substitution heterogeneous atoms. Here, a rare Earth metal ion of gadolinium (Gd3+) was doped with MoSe2 and synthesized through the hydrothermal method. The morphology and nanostructure of Gd3+ with MoSe2 spheres were analyzed under X-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron, High-resolution transmission electron microscopy analysis, Field emission scanning electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive spectroscopy. Furthermore, the Gd3+ doped MoSe2 sphere modified glassy carbon electrode (Gd@MoSe2/GCE) was used for the sensing of tryptophan. The Gd@MoSe2 modified GCE shows remarkable sensing performance of tryptophan resulting in a linear range (20 nM-220 μM) with a low detection limit (6.7 nM). Under the optimal condition, the developed electrochemical sensor was successfully used to determine tryptophan (TRP) in blood serum and milk samples. The electrochemical biosensing results suggest that the doping of the Gd3+ doped MoSe2 sensor is a promising electrocatalyst in biological and food samples. © 2023 The Electrochemical Society ("ECS"). Gene expression profiling technologies have been used in various applications such as cancer biology. The development of gene expression profiling has expanded the scope of target discovery in transcriptomic studies, and each technology produces data with distinct characteristics. In order to guarantee biologically meaningful findings using transcriptomic experiments, it is important to consider various experimental factors in a systematic way through statistical power analysis. In this paper, we review and discuss the power analysis for three types of gene expression profiling technologies from a practical standpoint, including bulk RNA-seq, single-cell RNA-seq, and high-throughput spatial transcriptomics. Specifically, we describe the existing power analysis tools for each research objective for each of the bulk RNA-seq and scRNA-seq experiments, along with recommendations. On the other hand, since there are no power analysis tools for high-throughput spatial transcriptomics at this point, we instead investigate the factors that can influence power analysis. © 2023, CC BY-NC-ND.
