An eddy current hall effect in semiconductors

It is widely known that a time-varying magnetic field induces an eddy current in a conducting material. In a semiconductor, the eddy current and the field jointly generate a time-varying Hall voltage. First investigated more than 50 years ago, this Hall effect is yet to be accurately detected in a laboratory. One of the primary unresolved issues with its measurement is a noise voltage. The noise was not quantitatively investigated or addressed in any of the previously published reports. In this conference proceeding this noise voltage is discussed in details, and proper guidelines are provided so that both the noise and the signal can be individually measured without any bothering interferences. These high transient field Hall measurements can be carried out using home-built, low-cost magnets, and therefore can be set-up in any laboratory.

Breed is studied in the article as of significant factors that determine the level of yield and its quality. World experience shows that the consistent increase in the yield of cultivated crops is based on the improvement of the cultivation technology and the achievements of breeding. The production of agricultural products is based on the variety of breeds. According to A.A. Zhuchenko, breed determines the basic requirements for cultivation technologies: productivity, energy efficiency, environmentally friendly quality and environmental protection. It is believed that 25% of the yield is determined by the genetic characteristics of the cultivated breed. The role of the genotype in increasing and stabilizing the yield is constantly increasing, and the contribution of the breed during zoning is estimated at 30 ... 50%.

Potential changes in the air pollutant spatial gradient may modify the performance of air quality networks, affecting function fulfillment. This study aims to elucidate, for the first time, whether the air quality networks’ design may be sustained over time. For that, temporal-spatial indicators were assessed in the long term. Particulate matter data (2005–2022) monitored by two target air quality networks (interior southwest European region) were regarded as a case study. The approach was applied to 2005–2022 particulate matter data. Broadly, the implementation of current European legislation (from 2008) has translated into a noticeable decrease in pollution levels. Polluting disparities were observed within the same fixed station category (urban, suburban, and rural). Diverse fixed monitoring stations showed different long-term pollution sceneries, evidencing varied exposure contexts. Distinct spatial patterns (quali- and quantitatively) were observed at global and local levels. Although the annual average PM2.5/PM10 ratio remains stable, suggesting common emission sources, the legislative limit exceedances are not sustained over the study due to fluctuating environmental conditions. Meteorological variables, particularly temperature, consistently impact particulate matter. Variable long-time environmental pollution situations may affect the performance of air quality networks. Based on a solid body of evidence, this work reveals needing to assess the long-time performance of air quality networks to secure the adequate fulfillment of their functions, given that non-redundant stations can become redundant ones and vice versa, thereby serving as a helpful methodology to complement current European air quality directives due to the lack of harmonized methodologies to achieve such an objective. © The Author(s) 2025.

Experimental Analysis of Aerodynamic Performance on asymmetric NACA 23018 Aerofoil incorporating a Leading-Edge Rotating Cylinder

The effects of Momentum Injection can play a vital role in increasing the efficiency of an aerofoil by increasing its lift and delaying the stall angle. Most of the studies regarding this concept analyzed the effects of momentum injection for higher velocity ratios (cylinder tangential velocity to free stream velocity) only. Almost no or less studies analyzed this effect for lower velocity ratios which created a research gap in this field. In this paper, a rotating cylinder is placed at the leading edge of an asymmetric aerofoil NACA 23018 and the aerodynamic performance with and without a rotating cylinder was studied for lower velocity ratios (<0.2). The experimental analysis was carried out for two Reynolds numbers (Re): 2 × 105 and 2.5 × 105 corresponding to two free stream velocities: 20 m/s and 25 m/s, respectively, for six different angles of attack (−5°, 0°, 5°, 10°, 15° and 20°). The experimental analysis showed that incorporating a leading-edge rotating cylinder increased the maximum lift coefficient by around 24% and delayed the stall angle by around 20%.

The dependence of swelling and migration on polymer crystallinity was investigated in the case of polylactic acid (PLA)-based plastics. Migration and swelling kinetic experiments were performed at two different temperatures, using plasticized/non-plasticized and annealed/unannealed PLA test *** swelling and migration proved to be inhibited by the presence of polymer crystals. Crystallization induced clear differences in migration at 40 °C contact temperature, which got more pronounced with the increasing molar weight (Mw) of additives. At 60 °C the differences diminished, except for Irgafos 168, possibly because of the formation of an inclusion complex type structure. Consequently, to lessen migration, the application of crystallized PLA and high Mw additives in food packaging industry is advantageous. The solvent-induced crystallization of PLA in ethanol 95 v/v% was also confirmed, therefore this alternative food simulant should be used only with restrictions in the migration testing of PLA-based plastics. © 2022, The Authors. ABSTRACTABSTRACTAll-terrain vehicle (ATV) crashes are one of the leading causes of death and injury in agriculture across the United States. Use of ATVs is highly prevalent in rural areas and has seen an increase in their application for a variety of agricultural work tasks. Empirical research on the use of these vehicles for agricultural tasks and associated injuries is limited, especially in the United States. Moreover, little is known about the risk factors associated with ATV-related injuries while doing farm work. A comprehensive review was conducted to evaluate the current injury burden of ATV use in agriculture, the need for future research, and possible solutions related to agricultural ATV safety. Potential injury prevention approaches are evaluated based on the hierarchy of control, including elimination or substitution (using side-by-side vehicles instead of ATVs or modifying ATV design), engineering control (operator protection devices), administrative authority (regulations and standards in the United States and around the world), training, and use of personal protective equipment. In addition, vehicle nomenclature, risk factors, and crash mechanisms are reviewed. Recommendations to decrease the likelihood of ATV crashes and injuries are provided.

The online comment for doctors plays an important role in assisting patients to master the real medical situation and choose medical treatment, which greatly reduces the adverse effects of online medical market information asymmetry. but because ordinary patients lack professional medical knowledge and can not accurately and efficiently write comments that are useful to similar patients, we identify useful topics from online medical reviews and make combination recommendations based on patients with different diseases. guide patients to write comments from the most useful dimensions to alleviate the problem of information overload, thus maximizing the limited human resource utility. This study aimed at online medical platforms such as good doctors and micro-doctors collected online doctor reviews for major diseases and used LDA topic mining and fsQCA fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis to analyze key topics that affect the usefulness of reviews and optimal topic combinations under different disease types.

Mathematical competency is vital to success in engineering. Competency requires not only short-term mastery of mathematical concepts, but also long-term retention. Research in cognitive psychology shows that the more times information is retrieved from memory, the more likely it is to be remembered over the long-term. Research also shows that increasing the amount of time between retrievals increases long-term retention. Which of these interventions-increasing the amount or the temporal spacing of retrieval practice-has the greater impact on long-term retention? Supported by NSF's Improving Undergraduate STEM Education (IUSE) program, we answered this question by independently manipulating the amount and the spacing of retrieval practice in a precalculus course for engineering students. This was done by varying the number of quiz questions concerning key precalculus objectives (amount of practice) and varying whether those questions were massed on a single quiz or distributed across quizzes in multiple weeks (spacing of practice). Long-term retention was assessed in a test of precalculus knowledge administered one month after the end of the precalculus course. We found that students were significantly more likely to retain precalculus objectives when quiz questions had been spaced versus massed. Increasing the number of quiz questions did not significantly affect retention. These findings suggest that educators wishing to increase students' long-term retention of mathematics knowledge should increase the spacing, rather than the amount, of retrieval practice in their courses. © American Society for engineering Education, 2018.
