This paper presents placement of FACTS controllers by using genetic algorithm for single objective optimization and strength Pareto evolutionary algorithm for three objective optimization simultaneously in power systems. The testing is done using Matlab on IEEE 30 bus system. Placement of two types of FACT devices is carried out for single objective optimization three objective optimization and the result of the three objective optimization are compared with the base case. The system is uniformly loaded for optimization at 110 % and 120%. Two FACTS are considered for placement i) TCSC Thyristor controlled series capacitor ii) SVC (Static Var compensator) in order to improve the branch loading index of the system, reduce losses and improve the voltage stability index. The placement of FACTs is obtained with location, type and value.

Background: Decades of steady improvements in life expectancy in Europe slowed down from around 2011, well before the COVID-19 pandemic, for reasons which remain disputed. We aimed to assess how changes in risk factors and cause-specific death rates in different European countries related to changes in life expectancy in those countries before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: We used data and methods from the Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study 2021 to compare changes in life expectancy at birth, causes of death, and population exposure to risk factors in 16 European Economic Area countries (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden) and the four UK nations (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales) for three time periods: 1990–2011, 2011–19, and 2019–21. Changes in life expectancy and causes of death were estimated with an established life expectancy cause-specific decomposition method, and compared with summary exposure values of risk factors for the major causes of death influencing life expectancy. Findings: All countries showed mean annual improvements in life expectancy in both 1990–2011 (overall mean 0·23 years [95% uncertainty interval [UI] 0·23 to 0·24]) and 2011–19 (overall mean 0·15 years [0·13 to 0·16]). The rate of improvement was lower in 2011–19 than in 1990–2011 in all countries except for Norway, where the mean annual increase in life expectancy rose from 0·21 years (95% UI 0·20 to 0·22) in 1990–2011 to 0·23 years (0·21 to 0·26) in 2011–19 (difference of 0·03 years). In other countries, the difference in mean annual improvement between these periods ranged from –0·01 years in Iceland (0·19 years [95% UI 0·16 to 0·21] vs 0·18 years [0·09 to 0·26]), to –0·18 years in England (0·25 years [0·24 to 0·25] vs 0·07 years [0·06 to 0·08]). In this paper, we present a Web-based intelligent tutoring system, called Remote Laboratory (RL). It is a computer-based learning environment that allows students from anywhere to access and perform experiments on real laboratory equipment from a distance via the Internet. As such, RLs are excellent platforms for students to network and collaborate with students from other. The project creates a platform in higher education sector, to be used to support student collaborative activities in RLs in a structured way that will enable students to develop in technical skills. We discuss how to employ facial expression recognition (FER) to develop an intelligent system to guide the students and also help them to improve the teaching and learning process.

The article proposes the design, testing and simulations of asynchronous counter directly Moebius modulo 6. We use JK flip-flop circuits because they are of order 2 and no state of indetermination. The circuit diagram drawing is very simple, resulting from mathematical calculations and logical function minimization condition. Testing and simulation of a counter we achieve using Electronic Workbench software. Counter for checking scheme Electronic Workbench has a “LED indicator” that “light up” in exceeding the2.5V (TTL logic 1) and below this level remains “off”. With this “LED indicator” is very easy to follow table states the counter.

The purpose of this paper is to measure the sustainability of corporate through using the relationship of major shareholder using complex system. As a result of case study, we can find two types of meaningful network. First type is the clustering according to connectivity among major shareholders. Second Type is the network according to corporate group. First type shows small world network and characteristics of corporate group such like business style, decision making speed and owner risk. Second type shows scale-free network and investment preference according flowing power law in stock market. Third type is the clustering according to industry sector of stock focusing on Information Technology.

Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) are promising alternatives for sustainable transportation. Because of their embedded battery pack, they can significantly enhance the fuel economy compared to conventional vehicle. Improving the power management strategy can exploit the full potential of a PHEV powertrain and reduce the fuel consumption considerably. In this study, we compare two outstanding optimal route-based control approaches: model predictive control (MPC) and adaptive equivalent consumption minimization strategy (AECMS), for different levels of trip information. The controllers are fine-tuned for the 2013 Toyota Prius plug-in hybrid and implemented as a high-fidelity model in Autonomie software. To evaluate the designed control systems, the rule-based controller of Autonomie is considered as a benchmark power management system. The result of simulations show that MPC and A-ECMS lead to an approximately equal fuel economy, and they can improve the fuel consumption of this PHEV up to 10% in comparison to the benchmark controller. Both strategies can be implemented in real-time although A-ECMS is 15% faster than MPC.
