Trajectory optimisation method for CAVs considering energy–efficiency balance

With the development of vehicle-to-everything (V2X) technology, connected automated vehicles (CAVs) will be an important part of urban road transportation. However, frequent acceleration, deceleration and rapid stopping at intersections lead to increased energy (fuel) consumption, reduced driving efficiency and balanced benefits. Here, an optimal control model (OCM) for vehicle trajectories is proposed that considers energy–efficiency balance (EEB) based on the characteristics of V2X technology. First, a vehicle trajectory control model was developed based on the intelligent driver model by accounting for the features of V2X technology. The idea of balanced optimisation considering EEB was then introduced and a vehicle trajectory OCM was devised. The proposed model was solved using design algorithms based on the non-dominated sorting genetic algorithm-II. The experimental results showed that the vehicle trajectory OCM could increase the balanced driving efficiency of vehicles within intersections, which is conducive to improving the robustness of the vehicle’s trajectory state, thus proving the effectiveness of the proposed method. The method also provides an important technical basis for the vehicle trajectory optimisation experiments under real V2X environments in the future.

Emergency care for the elderly: A review of the application of health information technology

Objective: As the need for emergency care for the elderly is increasing, applying creative solutions, such as using information technology is suggested to provide patients with more cost-effective health care services. The present study aimed to review the application of various types of health information technologies for the elderly in emergency care services. Methods: This study was carried out in 2020. Studies related to the use of various health information technologies for the elderly in pre-hospital services and emergency departments were searched from January 2019 to end of September 2020 in the databases of PubMed, the Cochrane Library, Scopus, Web of Science, ProQuest, Ovid, and Google Scholar. Data were extracted and synthesized narratively. Results: A total of 338 articles were collected and 21 articles were selected for further review. Six health information technologies used for the elderly in the emergency care services were emergency department information system (n = 2), clinical decision support system (n = 6), telemedicine technology (n = 7), electronic questionnaire (n = 1), electronic health records (n = 4) and personal health records (n = 1). The most common application was telemedicine technology. Conclusion: Although a variety of health information technologies are used for caring the elderly in emergency care services, there are still valuable opportunities in this area to develop new technologies and new health policies are required to support better health care delivery. © 2021 Fellowship of Postgraduate Medicine

Accurate forecasting of streamflow is vital for effective water resource management and environmental conservation, particularly in regions with limited hydrological data. This paper presents a pioneering 24-hour streamflow forecasting method designed for areas with sparse data. By harnessing deep neural networks, this approach addresses challenges associated with scarce and unreliable data. The model's performance is evaluated using data from diverse hydrological domains, highlighting its adaptability and robustness. The results indicate that the deep neural network-based model surpasses traditional methods, offering more reliable streamflow predictions. This research contributes to disaster preparedness, efficient resource allocation, and environmental sustainability, while also paving the way for broader applications of machine learning in hydrology.

technology grows at a rapid rate and trust has involved in a risk judgment between different parties. Authentication and Authorization generally determines the trust while dealing with transactions of data over different channels. Blockchain has become a digital backbone due to its security, time-management, and transparency on data decentralization ledger. This survey paper studies the existing blockchain structure, analyses the research gaps and proposes a new theoretical approach based on neighbor monitoring and updating model. This model may help the patients to decentralize real data and results in the blockchain network. This work discusses in detail about the various security challenges in block chain against 51% attack and double-spend attack by proposing a theoretical framework for the problem.

In this paper, we consider a Denial of Service (DoS) attack on a set of agents interacting over an undirected signed graph attempting to achieve linear bipartite consensus. In bipartite consensus, two clusters are formed, agents in each cluster converging to a final state which is negative of the other cluster’s final state. The adversary seeks to slow down the bipartite consensus by a DoS type attack where the attacker has the capability to break a fixed maximum number of links at each time instant. The problem is formulated as an optimal control problem and the optimal strategy for the adversary is determined. The optimal strategy is provided as an algorithm and results are demonstrated with numerical simulations.

Genie: A new, fast, and outlier-resistant hierarchical clustering algorithm

The time needed to apply a hierarchical clustering algorithm is most often dominated by the number of computations of a pairwise dissimilarity measure. Such a constraint, for larger data sets, puts at a disadvantage the use of all the classical linkage criteria but the single linkage one. However, it is known that the single linkage clustering algorithm is very sensitive to outliers, produces highly skewed dendrograms, and therefore usually does not reflect the true underlying data structure - unless the clusters are well-separated. To overcome its limitations, we propose a new hierarchical clustering linkage criterion called Genie. Namely, our algorithm links two clusters in such a way that a chosen economic inequity measure (e.g., the Gini- or Bonferroni-index) of the cluster sizes does not increase drastically above a given threshold. The presented benchmarks indicate a high practical usefulness of the introduced method: it most often outperforms the Ward or average linkage in terms of the clustering quality while retaining the single linkage speed. The Genie algorithm is easily parallelizable and thus may be run on multiple threads to speed up its execution further on. Its memory overhead is small: there is no need to precompute the complete distance matrix to perform the computations in order to obtain a desired clustering. It can be applied on arbitrary spaces equipped with a dissimilarity measure, e.g., on real vectors, DNA or protein sequences, images, rankings, informetric data, etc. A reference implementation of the algorithm has been included in the open source genie package for R. This article is devoted to creating a control code to simulate the complicated type of flight of a group of small spacecraft in formation, called swarms of spacecraft. The Swarm project with integrated Fem satellites on a silicon wafer (SWIFT) Jet Propulsion Laboratories is a new, a paradigm-changing definition of spacecraft technology that could provide swarms of fully capable femtosatellites to fly. These swarms have the capacity to be used as optical relays, distributed antennas, or for mass distribution probing applications, among others. In this article, a swarm is defined as a collection of hundreds to thousands of homogeneous spacecraft, and a femtosat is defined as a satellite weighing about 100 g. Because of their small size, femtosats have limited probing, actuation, and computational capabilities, requiring that the swarm guidance and control algorithms be both motor and computationally *** the article for testing the SS swarm control system, a virtual software simulator is developed. This simulator is written in Matlab R2015b in C ++ programming language. The simulator, using flight parameters, creates a simulation and shows the reaction of the SS in different *** simulator checks the flight path of the SS according to the task algorithm. Increasing numbers of higher education institutions see themselves as service providers, catering primarily to the needs of its students. The improvement of student performance is a top priority for universities. It is critical to first assess the present situation of the students before designing a program to improve their performance. Higher education administrators face a significant problem in predicting a student's future success. The goal of this study is to learn what factors influence college students' decision on a major. It will be possible to forecast students' behavior, attitudes, and performance with the use of predictive tools and procedures. Predicting student performance ahead of time makes it possible to take proactive measures to raise achievement levels. To obtain a high education standard, several attempts have been made to forecast student performance. However the accuracy of these predictions falls short of the desired level of excellence. Machine learning approaches including Artificial Neural Network, Nave Bayes, and SVM are being studied. A University Data Set from UCI Machinery is used in the experimental investigation.

This paper discusses the lack of reliability and reproducibility validation in digital forensics for a criminal trial. It is argued that this challenge can be addressed with standard data-representation for digital evidence. The representation must include reproducibility documentation on processing operations including automation, human interaction, and investigation steps. Analyzed are two blueprint articles - the CASE specification language for cyber-investigations [1] and the WANDA data standard for the documenting semi-automated hand-writing examination [2]. These two generic frameworks are studied for their granularity to support reproducibility testing by representing: (i) artefact characteristics, forensic - tool parameters and input - output logic; (ii) human and tool data interpretation; and (iii) parallel-running forensic tasks or chains of processes. Proposed is the integration of WANDA-based schema as CASE expression. The utility of such integration is demonstrated as a new module in CASE designed to meet the high standard of proof and scientific validation typically required in criminal investigations and trials. The expression ensures compliance without overburdening digital forensic practitioners.
