Lead telluride is an important thermoelectric material due to its large Seebeck coefficient combined with its unusually low thermal conductivity that is related to the strong anharmonicity of phonons in this material. Here, we have studied the resonant and nonperturbative coupling of transverse optical phonons in lead telluride with cavity photons inside small-mode-volume metallic metasurface cavities that have photonic modes with terahertz frequencies. We observed a giant vacuum Rabi splitting on the order of the bare phonon and cavity frequencies. Through terahertz time-domain spectroscopy experiments, we systematically studied the vacuum Rabi splitting as a function of sample thickness, temperature, and cavity length. Under the strongest light–matter coupling conditions, the strength of coupling exceeded the bare phonon and cavity frequencies, putting the system into the deep-strong coupling regime. These results demonstrate that this uniquely tunable platform is promising for realizing and understanding predicted cavity-vacuum-induced ferroelectric instabilities and exploring applications of light–matter coupling in the ultrastrong and deep-strong coupling regimes in quantum technology. Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS)-based genomics data have a huge potential to be used in transcriptomic profiling of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma (NPC) to study the biosynthesis mechanism behind it. The high dimensionality of NGS data is the main challenge in performing the data analysis to extract useful information. In this workflow pipeline, memory-efficient Linux-based software such as HISAT2 and HTSeq are utilized to process the raw NGS data. Furthermore, Differential Expression Gene (DEG) list can be obtained by performing advanced analysis to the aligned Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) sequence using the edgeR protocol. This DEG list is one of the main inputs of biological pathway analysis that can be done in DAVID and PANTHER web-based software. Both tools generate a different pathway result related to inflammation.

We leverage aperiodic temporal modulations and nonreciprocity to realize PT-symmetric phenomena without the need for gain and loss provided by external mechanisms. We develop our approach using a general coupled-mode framework, and verify our results via detailed simulations in a conservative electronic circuit, demonstrating wave phenomena such as scattering PT-phase transition and anisotropic transmission resonances in a Hermitian system. Our concept opens the possibility of implementing PT-symmetric phenomena without gain, with applications in sensing, communications, and a broad range of quantum physics.

Ovarian cancer remains the third most prevalent and deadliest gynecologic malignancy worldwide, with most patients eventually developing resistance to platinum-based chemotherapy. This highlights a critical unmet need for innovative multitargeted therapies to address current treatment challenges. In this study, we identified 35 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) through integrated analysis of four GEO ovarian cancer datasets, with validation using TCGA data. Gene Ontology (GO) and KEGG enrichment analyses highlighted key tumor-associated pathways, and protein-protein interaction (PPI) network modeling prioritized CDK1 and TTK as high-value therapeutic targets. We evaluated the association between molecular genomic features and drug responses across the NCI-60 ovarian cancer cell line panel (IGROV1, OVCAR-3, OVCAR-4, OVCAR-5, OVCAR-8, NCI/ADR-RES, and SK-OV-3), using a series of salicylanilide-derived compounds and four FDA-approved drugs (cabozantinib, paclitaxel, rapamycin, and niclosamide) from the NCI Developmental Therapeutics program (DTP). Among these, NSC765690 (MCC22) emerged as the most promising candidate. It demonstrated potent antiproliferative activity, high target selectivity, and strong binding affinity to both CDK1 and TTK. Multi-omics integration, combined with AI-driven network modeling, further elucidated NSC765690's mechanism of action and its relevance to ovarian cancer pathogenesis. Additionally, ADMET and pharmacokinetic profiling confirmed its favorable drug-like properties and low predicted toxicity. Collectively, these findings establish NSC765690 as a potent dual-target inhibitor and exemplify a rational, data-driven drug discovery pipeline for overcoming chemotherapy resistance in ovarian cancer.

Entanglement and purification transitions in non-Hermitian quantum mechanics

A quantum system subject to continuous measurement and post-selection evolves according to a non-Hermitian Hamiltonian. We show that, as one increases the rate of post-selection, this non-Hermitian Hamiltonian can undergo a spectral phase transition. On one side of this phase transition (for weak post-selection) an initially mixed density matrix remains mixed at all times, and an initially unentangled state develops volume-law entanglement;on the other side, an arbitrary initial state approaches a unique pure state with low entanglement. We identify this transition with an exceptional point in the spectrum of the non-Hermitian Hamiltonian, at which PT symmetry is spontaneously broken. We characterize the transition as well as the nontrivial steady state that emerges at late times in the mixed phase using exact diagonalization and an approximate, analytically tractable mean-field theory;these methods yield consistent conclusions. After Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) established in Jakarta, a change of air quality was indicated by the citizens. Representatives of Indonesia's Agency for Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics (BMKG) supported as the fact that mobility of Jakarta's citizen and commuters were reduced. With utilizing Weather Data Acquisition System managed by BMKG, this research compared fluctuations of Jakarta's air quality during two periods of time: Pre-PSBB and During-PSBB. This study proved that Jakarta's air quality has positively improved compared to the previous year, although in the lower range of unhealthy level.

Atomic-level defects in van der Waals (vdW) materials are essential building blocks for quantum technologies and quantum sensing applications. The layered magnetic semiconductor CrSBr is an outstanding candidate for exploring optically active defects owing to a direct gap in addition to a rich magnetic phase diagram including a recently hypothesized defect-induced magnetic order at low temperature. Here, we show optically active defects in CrSBr that are probes of the local magnetic environment. We observe spectrally narrow (1 meV) defect emission in CrSBr that is correlated with both the bulk magnetic order and an additional low temperature defect-induced magnetic order. We elucidate the origin of this magnetic order in the context of local and non-local exchange coupling effects. Our work establishes vdW magnets like CrSBr as an exceptional platform to optically study defects that are correlated with the magnetic lattice. We anticipate that controlled defect creation allows for tailor-made complex magnetic textures and phases with the unique ingredient of direct optical access. Copyright © 2022, The Authors.
