We present a catalog of hard X-ray serendipitous sources detected in the first 80 months of observations by the Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array (NuSTAR). The NuSTAR serendipitous survey 80-month (NSS80) catalog has an unprecedented ∼ 62 Ms of effective exposure time over 894 unique fields (a factor of three increase over the 40-month catalog), with an areal coverage of ∼ 36 deg2, larger than all NuSTAR extragalactic surveys. NSS80 provides 1274 hard X-ray sources in the 3 − 24 keV band (822 new detections compared to the previous 40-month catalog). Approximately 76% of the NuSTAR sources have lower-energy (10−40 keV〉 = 1.2 × 1044 erg s−1 and 〈z〉 = 0.56. We investigate the optical properties and construct composite optical spectra to search for subtle signatures not present in the individual spectra, finding an excess of redder BL AGN compared to optical quasar surveys predominantly due to the presence of the host-galaxy and, at least in part, due to dust obscuration. © 2024, CC BY.

This Letter reports on the first measurements of transverse momentum dependent flow angle Ψn and flow magnitude vn fluctuations determined using new four-particle correlators. The measurements are performed for various centralities in Pb–Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of sNN = 5.02 TeV with ALICE at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. Both flow angle and flow magnitude fluctuations are observed in the presented centrality ranges and are strongest in the most central collisions and for a transverse momentum pT>2GeV/c. Comparison with theoretical models, including iEBE-VISHNU, MUSIC, and AMPT, show that the measurements exhibit unique sensitivities to the initial state of heavy-ion collisions.

We introduce the SDSS/APOGEE Value Added Catalogue of Galactic Globular Cluster (GC) Stars. The catalogue is the result of a critical search of the APOGEE data release 17 (DR17) catalogue for candidate members of all known Galactic GCs. Candidate members are assigned to various GCs on the basis of position on the sky, proper motion, and radial velocity. The catalogue contains a total of 7,737 entries for 6,422 unique stars associated with 72 Galactic GCs. Full APOGEE DR17 information is provided, including radial velocities and abundances for up to 20 elements. Membership probabilities estimated on the basis of precision radial velocities are made available. Comparisons with chemical compositions derived by the GALAH survey, as well as optical values from the literature, show good agreement. This catalogue represents a significant increase in the public database of GC star chemical compositions and kinematics, providing a massive homogeneous data set that will enable a variety of studies. Imidazole and some of its derivatives have been known as a good candidate for corrosion inhibition application. In this study, ab initio calculation was carried out for several imidazole derivatives i.e. 2-phenylimidazole[1,2-α]pyridine, 6-methyl-2-phenylimidazole[1,2-α]pyridine, 6-methyl-2-(4-metoxyplenylimidazole)[1,2-α]pyridine, and 6-methyl-2-(4-chlorophenylimidazole)[1,2α]pyridine, in order to investigate their electronic properties as well as its correlation with their corrosion inhibition properties. Calculations were performed using Firefly software package with RHF method and 6-31G(d,p) basis set. Based on calculation results and analysis, it was found that 6-methyl-2-(4-metoxyphenylimidazole) [1,2α]pyridine compound has better potential as corrosion inhibitor than the rest of the compounds due to its small HOMO-LUMO energy gap, low ionization potential, low electron affinity, low electronegativity, and low global hardness i.e. 10.184 eV, 7.199 eV, -2.985 eV, 2.107 eV and 5.092 eV respectively. This compound also has the highest global softness (0.098 eV), while the greatest value of the dipole moment was owned by 6-methyl-2-(4-chlorophenylimidazole)[1,2α]pyridine with value of 6.125 Debye due to the existence of Cl atom that has larger polarity than the other substituents.

computational study of inclusion complexes between R/S-omeprazole as Proton Pump Inhibitor (PPI) compound with hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin in three of its dimeric structure configurations (head to head, head to tail and tail to tail) has been carried out. All calculations were performed using PM3 quantum semiempirical method. computational results showed that total binding energy (BE) of R-omeprazole complex is more exothermic than total binding energy of S-omeprazole complex. The calculated binding energy of R-omeprazole complex was -74.65 kcal/mol, while for S-omeprazole complex was -64.09 kcal/mol. This results indicate that R-omeprazole inclusion complex has higher stability compared to S-omeprazole inclusion complex. The value of ΔH, ΔS, and ΔG for R-omeprazole inclusion complex formation were -77.02 kcal/mol, -0.24 cal/mol.K and -2.62 kcal/mol respectively, while the value of ΔH, ΔS, and ΔG for S-omeprazole inclusion complex formation were -66.47 kcal/mol, -0.29 cal/mol.K and 19.29 kcal/mol respectively. These values indicate that the formation of inclusion complexes between R/S-omeprazole with hydroxypropyl-β-cyclodextrin is enthalpy driven process.

KAGRA, the underground and cryogenic gravitational-wave detector, was operated for its solo observation from February 25 to March 10, 2020, and its first joint observation with the GEO 600 detector from April 7 to April 21, 2020 (O3GK). This study presents an overview of the input optics systems of the KAGRA detector, which consist of various optical systems, such as a laser source, its intensity and frequency stabilization systems, modulators, a Faraday isolator, mode-matching telescopes, and a high-power beam dump. These optics were successfully delivered to the KAGRA interferometer and operated stably during the observations. The laser frequency noise was observed to limit the detector sensitivity above a few kilohertz, whereas the laser intensity did not significantly limit the detector sensitivity.

Despite substantial declines since 2000, lower respiratory infections (LRIs), diarrhoeal diseases, and malaria remain among the leading causes of nonfatal and fatal disease burden for children under 5 years of age (under 5), primarily in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). The spatial burden of each of these diseases has been estimated subnationally across SSA, yet no prior analyses have examined the pattern of their combined burden. Here we synthesise subnational estimates of the burden of LRIs, diarrhoea, and malaria in children under-5 from 2000 to 2017 for 43 sub-Saharan countries. Some units faced a relatively equal burden from each of the three diseases, while others had one or two dominant sources of unit-level burden, with no consistent pattern geographically across the entire subcontinent. Using a subnational counterfactual analysis, we show that nearly 300 million DALYs could have been averted since 2000 by raising all units to their national average. Our findings are directly relevant for decision-makers in determining which and targeting where the most appropriate interventions are for increasing child survival. © 2022, The Author(s).

Collective behavior has been observed in high-energy heavy-ion collisions for several decades. Collectivity is driven by the high particle multiplicities that are produced in these collisions. At the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC), features of collectivity have also been seen in high-multiplicity proton-proton collisions that can attain particle multiplicities comparable to peripheral Pb-Pb collisions. One of the possible signatures of collective behavior is the decrease of femtoscopic radii extracted from pion and kaon pairs emitted from high-multiplicity collisions with increasing pair transverse momentum. This decrease can be described in terms of an approximate transverse mass scaling. In the present work, femtoscopic analyses are carried out by the ALICE Collaboration on charged pion and kaon pairs produced in pp collisions at s=13TeV from the LHC to study possible collectivity in pp collisions. The event-shape analysis method based on transverse sphericity is used to select for spherical versus jetlike events, and the effects of this selection on the femtoscopic radii for both charged pion and kaon pairs are studied. This is the first time this selection method has been applied to charged kaon pairs. An approximate transverse-mass scaling of the radii is found in all multiplicity ranges studied when the difference in the Lorentz boost for pions and kaons is taken into account. This observation does not support the hypothesis of collective expansion of hot and dense matter that should only occur in high-multiplicity events. A possible alternate explanation of the present results is based on a scenario of common emission conditions for pions and kaons in pp collisions for the multiplicity ranges studied.

The production cross sections of D0 and Λc+ hadrons originating from beauty-hadron decays (i.e., nonprompt) were measured for the first time at midrapidity (|y|<0.5) by the ALICE Collaboration in proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy s=13 TeV. They are described within uncertainties by perturbative QCD calculations employing the fragmentation fractions of beauty quarks to baryons measured at forward rapidity by the LHCb Collaboration. The bb¯ production cross section per unit of rapidity at midrapidity, estimated from these measurements, is dσbb¯/dy||y|<0.5=83.1±3.5(stat)±5.4(syst)−3.2+12.3(extrap) μb. The baryon-to-meson ratios are computed to investigate the hadronization mechanism of beauty quarks. The nonprompt Λc+/D0 production ratio has a similar trend to the one measured for the promptly produced charmed particles and to the p/π+ and Λ/KS0 ratios, suggesting a similar baryon-formation mechanism among light, strange, charm, and beauty hadrons. The pT -integrated nonprompt Λc+/D0 ratio is found to be significantly higher than the one measured in e+e− collisions.
