Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of the quadrotor type are widely used in both civilian and military applications due to their superior maneuverability, lower manufacturing costs, and the absence of crew risk. This has led to an increased demand for control and navigation systems that enable autonomous operation, allowing quadrotors to follow desired flight paths and avoid obstacles. In this study, an obstacle detection and avoidance system for an autonomous quadrotor was designed and implemented. The obstacle detection system can detect obstacles up to 7 meters away with a mean average precision (mAP) of 89.63%. The position estimation system can estimate obstacle positions up to 6 meters on the y-axis and 1.2 meters on the x-axis, with average errors of 0.146 meters and 0.019 meters, respectively. The flight route planning system uses the A∗ algorithm to calculate the shortest path to the target while avoiding obstacles. Based on test results, the quadrotor successfully detects obstacles, estimates their positions, determines the optimal flight route, and follows it with a mean absolute error (MAE) of 0.101 meters, demonstrating reliable autonomous operation. © 2024 IEEE.

Cutaneous Lupus Erythematosus (CLE) is a form of lupus that affects the skin and is highly sensitive to ultraviolet (UV) light. UV-B. in particular. can trigger inflammation and apoptosis in CLE patients. making a sunscreen with effective UVB protection crucial. This study evaluates the effectiveness of zinc oxide (ZnO) and titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles in sunscreen. ZnO and TiO2 nanoparticles were prepared using the High Energy Milling method. resulting in particle sizes of 7.77 nm and 4.44 nm. respectively. The creams containing these nanoparticles were tested for physical stability and UV protection. Results showed that the creams were physically stable and provided good UV protection. with ZnO and TiO2 nanoparticles making up 12.60% of the total cream ingredients. resulting in the highest SPF (Sun Protection Factor) value of 62.0 ± 1.37. © 2025 Institute of physics Publishing. This study examined the effect of Zn2+ ion substitution on ZnxMn(1-x) Fe2O4 nanoparticles (x = 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8) towards signal Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR). The co-precipitation method synthesised the nanoparticles at a temperature of 90°C. The X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) results showed a polycrystalline structure with a crystallite size varied from 19.05 nm to 19.77 nm. In addition, as the Zn element increased in the ZnxMn(1-x)Fe2O4 nanoparticles, the degree of crystallinity increased by 21.72%, respectively. The optical properties of the nanoparticles ZnxMn(1-x) Fe2O4 indicate absorbance at wavelengths of 330.36–331.74 nm. The absorbance level increased as the Zn element decreased, resulting a direct optical gap of 3.47 eV and an indirect optical gap of 3.23 eV. The Attenuated Total Reflection (ATR) curve in the SPR biosensor indicated a shift in the reflective angle of the Prism/Au/Air configuration, which is 47.78° on Prisma/Au/nanoparticle of Zn0.8Mn0.2Fe2O4/air by 50.75°, and the prism/Au/nanoparticle of Zn0.2Mn0.8Fe2 O4/air by 51.04°. The substitution of Zn ions in the compound Zn x Mn(1-x)Fe2O4 affects the resulting ATR curve. The shift in the SPR angle is caused by changes in the refractive index in each layer which is influenced by the concentration of each material which has an impact on the absorbance ability and photon reflectance. This research has the potential to continue with the testing of dielectric and magnetic properties, as well as special testing for biological analytes compatible with ZnxMn(1-x)Fe2O4 nanoparticles. © 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

In indoor vertical farming systems, managing dynamic and complex environments poses significant challenges. Traditional control strategies often fall short in adapting to rapid changes in critical parameters such as nutrient levels, climate conditions, and plant health indicators. To address these challenges, this paper presents a novel approach for optimizing indoor vertical farming using Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (DDPG), a reinforcement learning algorithm well-suited for environments with continuous action spaces. Our study focused on the control and monitoring of key parameters, including nutrient levels (pH and EC), climate conditions (temperature, humidity, light, and CO2 levels), and plant health indicators (biomass accumulation and leaf size structure). By defining a comprehensive state and action space, we simulated an indoor farming environment and trained the DDPG model to maximize crop yield and health. © 2024 IEEE.

Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) generators have many advantages over DC generators that use brushes. In this research, the advantages of the BLDC generator are applied as a generator for a micro-hydro power plant (MHPP) that uses an Archimedes screw turbine. The study aims to test the performance of the BLDC generator as a generator on the Archimedes screw turbine MHPP. The MHPP specifications for the Archimedes screw turbine used in this research are an Archimedes screw turbine with three blades, an elevation angle of 40◦ and a transmission gear ratio of 2.8:1. The screw turbine has an inner diameter of 14.02 cm, an outer diameter of 23.9 cm, a pitch of 25.67 cm and a length of 51.34 cm. The generator used is a 3-phase Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) generator. The load used is a 12 Volt LED lamp with a 5 to 20 Watts power. The test results at a discharge of 0.00634 m3/s showed that the mechanical power was (36.408 ± 0.202) Watts and the highest electrical power was (7.86 ± 0.03) Watts. Based on these results, the efficiency of electrical power on mechanical power is around 22%. © 2024 Institute of physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

In the tropical regions, the use of atrium and skylight opening provides the opportunity to admit daylight into the buildings consistently, due to the relatively long and constant sunshine duration throughout the year. However, there are risks of excessive daylight and direct sunlight from the skylight opening. This study aims to determine the optimum daylighting design strategies for applying atrium, skylight, and façade design in a tropical, five-floor office building. Daylight performance is simulated with Honeybee [+]. To test the conformity with the LEED standard, a k-Nearest Neighbour (k-NN) classifier algorithm is applied to classify the data, while Pareto frontiers optimization is applied to determine the optimal solutions. The WWR is correlated with ASE1000,250, while VT is correlated with sDA300/50%. The k-NN algorithm is found having 93.3% accuracy. © 2023 *** rights reserved.

In recent years,sodium-ion capacitors have attracted attention due to their cost-effectiveness,high power density and similar manufacturing process to lithium-ion ***,the utilization of oxide electrodes in traditional sodium-ion capacitors restricts their further advancement due to the inherent low operating voltage and electrolyte consumption based on their energy storage *** address these challenges,we incorporated Zn,Cu,Ti,and other elements into Na_(0.67)Ni_(0.33)Mn_(0.67)O_(2) to synthesize P2-type Na_(0.7)Ni_(0.28)Mn_(0.6)Zn_(0.05)Cu_(0.02)Ti_(0.05)O_(2) with a modulated entropy and pillaring *** the synergistic interplay between the interlayer pillar and the entropy modulation within the layers,the material exhibits exceptional toughness,effectively shielding it from detrimental phase transitions at elevated voltage *** a result,the material showcases outstanding kinetic properties and long-term cycling stability across the voltage *** integrating these materials with hierarchical porous carbon nanospheres to form a"rocking chair"sodium-ion capacitor,the hybrid full device delivers a high energy density(171 Wh·kg^(-1))and high power density(5245 W·kg^(-1)),as well as outstanding cycling stability(77% capacity retention after 3000 cycles).This work provides an effective material development route to realize simultaneously high energy and power for next-generation sodium-ion capacitors.

Fly ash waste from the Asam-Asam Power Plant in South Kalimantan continues to increase. Various attempts have been made to utilize fly ash waste, among others. as a basic material for making geopolymers. Geopolymer is environmentally friendly because it replaces all cement with high Silica (Si) and Alumina (Al) wastes such as fly ash. This study aims to characterize fly ash as a raw material of geopolymer. Fly ash was filtered using 200 mesh and then heated in an oven at 105°C for 24 hours. The prepared fly ash was then tested for physical properties and compound analysis using XRF, identification of chemical bonds and functional groups using FTIR, morphology, and elements using SEM EDX. Initial and final setting time was investigated using the Vicat apparatus to determine e whether cement is undergoing proper hydration. The results indicated that the fly ash was classified to class F. That was based on the amount of SiO2 + Al2O3 + Fe2O3 of 85.91%, and the CaO content was less than 10%. Moreover, fly ash's initial and final setting time was 1072.5 and 3180 minutes, respectively. Fly ash in this research can be used as a raw material for geopolymers. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The motor impairments that stroke patients experience as a primary contributor to death and disability also impact their quality of life. Due to its characteristics as complex muscle signals, the Electromyograph (EMG) signal may be one of the markers in rehabilitation and a substitute that may be used to judge the success of rehabilitation. This study aims to analyze the complexity of EMG signals originating from the flexion of the flexor carpi radialis muscle with various weights indicating the rehabilitation state. It is important to monitor the progress of rehabilitation, and it can be done by using complexity analysis. The complexity of the EMG is examined in this work utilizing entropy measurement, namely Approximate Entropy (ApEn), Sample Entropy (SampEn), and Fuzzy Approximate Entropy (fApEn). We concentrated on the flexor carpi radialis muscle using flexion–extension exercises and varying the weight load. This study’s results indicate differences in the complexity of the EMG signal in the flexor carpi radialis when performing flexion–extension movements. Three differences showed a correlation based on the value of ApEN, SampEn, and fApEn. Complexity Analysis using fApEn showed the best correlation at R = 0.9966, which can be used to evaluate the rehabilitation process. The increase in weight was followed by the increase of the fApEn value, indicating that the value can be used to evaluate the rehabilitation process. The use of complexity analysis of EMG signal from flexion movement in flexor carpi radialis with various weights can be used to indicate the progress in the rehabilitation process. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

Resonant converters are widely used for voltage regulator applications. The basic converters i.e., Series resonant Converter (SRC) and Parallel Resonant Converter (PRC) are having some merits and limitations. These are addressed in multi element topologies at the cost of adding extra elements. This work takes up the SRC and reports a combined frequency and duty ratio control for performance optimization of the SRC. The key issue of SRC is that the voltage cannot be controlled at a low Q (i.e. Quality factor) operation. For example, at no load Q becomes zero making the converter inert to frequency variation. This however can be eliminated by pulse width modulation technique. Duty ratio can be properly controlled to achieve the output voltage at an extended load range. The work further takes up challenge to make efficiency optimized. For this a combined control of duty ratio and frequency are proposed. Efficiency Optimization Control (EOC) requires two voltage sensors (one at the input side and another at the output) and a current sensor. Following this, a new minimum rms current algorithm is developed that only requires a current and a voltage sensor. All the proposed techniques are simulated and verified using MATLAB/Simulink. © 2024 IEEE.
