Magnetic Induction Tomography (MIT) is a low-resolution imaging technique used to reconstruct the magnetic permeability distribution of an object. COMSOL Simulation of VMIT (Volumetric Magnetic Induction Tomography) system has been developed by using 8 coils as transmitter and 8 coils as receiver. The existence of sine excitation signal in the transmitter coil cause magnetic field changing, it causing emf at the receiver coil. The magnitude of the magnetic field induction is also influenced by the permeability of the medium between the transmitter and receiver coils. COMSOL and MATLAB simulation of VMIT 8 coil systems indicate that, by using ILBP algorithms, ball-shaped object with ferromagnetic materials (iron) can be reconstructed to produce a similar image. The sensitivity matrix significantly influences image reconstruction in MIT, leading to distorted elliptical images of objects, particularly when positioned at the top center, as the matrix shows homogeneity mainly in the middle area.

In this paper, a control system based on Sliding Mode Control (SMC) and Kalman Filter has been designed to stabilize the quadcopter in the takeoff and hover phases as well as at the expected altitude. The control system is needed to support the performance of the quadcopter in carrying out the mission that has been given. The designed control system begins with the creation of a system model equation and is implemented in a real quadcopter simulation. The resulting response in terms of the results of the resulting control signal is stable, meets the trajectory as expected, and can produce a real quadcopter simulation taking off vertically and flying stably. Even though there was an unstable response for about 15 to 20 seconds at the beginning of the resulting response, after that the system showed stability. Tracking the resulting trajectory in accordance with the desired trajectory. Real quadcopter simulation results show that the takeoff phase can be carried out vertically and that the resulting trajectory stability can be stable during takeoff and flight. The height of the quadcopter has reached 100%, namely with a height of 1.5 meters as expected, and the average error value obtained at the x position is $2.93\mathrm{e}^{-07}$, the y position is $2.96\mathrm{e}^{-}07$, and the z position is $1.80\mathrm{e}^{-03}$. The proposed SMC-Kalman filter control system is expected to be implemented in a conventional quadcopter that has been developed.

Small animals, such as rodents, are attractive options for investigating the intrinsic process of retinal degeneration. In this study, we used phase-sensitive optical coherence tomography to explore the comprehensive dynamics of rats’ outer retinas in response to visual stimuli. By calculating the temporal phase difference between different outer retinal bands, we revealed highly reproducible retinal dynamics, on the order of tens of nanometers, related to different parts of the outer retina. Our approach may pave the way for preclinical optoretinography study in small animals, facilitating clinical translations for the early detection of neurodegenerative diseases. © 2024 SPIE.

Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) nearly has all the parameters of the ideal of a modality tomography. There is one parameter that makes the EIT modality not yet ideal. It is the low spatial resolution of the image. Unfortunately, it is limited in the range of 5 percent to 10 percent of the object diameter. The causal factor is the limited number of measurement data obtained. The focus of research on EIT at now is the development of functional applications. The novel application developed in this research is to detect bone fractures, mainly due to sports injuries. The hardware characteristics are certainly different from other applications. Optimization of the injection current to match the most resistive characteristics of bone compared to all human body tissues has been carried out. The image of bone is reconstructed using the adjacent method of data collection and the Newton-Raphson iterative algorithm with Tikhonov regularization. The optimization results are seen from the high quality and contrast of the reconstructed image for various injection current values. The current injection frequency is selected at 10 kHz. In the results of this research, the injection current that can produce the highest quality and contrast is 0.3 mA. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

We simulate the wave propagation through various mediums using a graph-theoretical path-finding algorithm. The mediums are discretized to the square lattices, where each node is connected up to its 4th nearest neighbours. The edge connecting any 2 nodes is weighted by the time of flight of the wave between the nodes, which is calculated from the Euclidean distance between the nodes divided by the average velocity at the positions of those nodes. According to Fermat's principle of least time, wave propagation between 2 nodes will follow the path with minimal weight. We thus use the path-finding algorithm to find such a path. We apply our method to simulate wave propagation from a point source through a homogeneous medium. By defining a wavefront as a contour of nodes with the same time of flight, we obtain a spherical wave as expected. We next investigate the wave propagation through a boundary of 2 mediums with different wave velocities. The result shows wave refraction that exactly follows Snell's law. Finally, we apply the algorithm to determine the velocity model in a wood sample, where the wave velocity is determined by the angle between the propagation direction and the radial direction from its pith. By comparing the time of flight from our simulation with the measurements, the parameters in the velocity model can be obtained. The advantage of our method is its simplicity and straightforwardness. In all the above simulations, the same simple path-finding code is used, regardless of the complexity of the wave velocity model of the mediums. We expect that our method can be useful in practice when an investigation of wave propagation in a complex medium is needed. © 2022 Institute of physics Publishing. All rights reserved.

In this study, an inquiry was conducted to examine the influence of temperature on the crystal structure of sodium titanate (NTO). NTO was synthesized using NaCl, TTIP, citric acid, and ethylene glycol as precursors. The NaCl-citric acid precursor was dissolved in purified water, while the titanium precursor was prepared by blending ethylene glycol with TTIP. After vigorous stirring, the precursor solution was placed in a Teflon-coated stainless steel autoclave, subjected to preheating, and subsequently dried to form a gel. The gel underwent calcination at temperatures ranging from 800 to 1000 °C for 3 hours each. The resulting samples were rinsed with deionized water and dried to eliminate residual NaCl. Based on the results of XRD characterization, the NaTi4O8 phase experienced decomposition into rutile form when the calcination temperature was increased from 800-1000 °C and began to be identified as a rutile phase at a temperature of 900 °C. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Previous studies have shown that the interiors of proteins are densely packed, reaching packing fractions that are as large as those found for static packings of individual amino-acid-shaped particles. How can the interiors of proteins take on such high packing fractions given that amino acids are connected by peptide bonds and many amino acids are hydrophobic with attractive interactions? We investigate this question by comparing the structural and mechanical properties of collapsed attractive disk-shaped bead-spring polymers to those of three reference systems: static packings of repulsive disks, of attractive disks, and of repulsive disk-shaped bead-spring polymers. We show that the attractive systems quenched to temperatures below the glass transition T≪Tg and static packings of both repulsive disks and bead-spring polymers possess similar interior packing fractions. Previous studies have shown that static packings of repulsive disks are isostatic at jamming onset, i.e., the number of interparticle contacts Nc matches the number of degrees of freedom, which strongly influences their mechanical properties. We find that repulsive polymer packings are hypostatic at jamming onset (i.e., with fewer contacts than degrees of freedom) but are effectively isostatic when including stabilizing quartic modes, which give rise to quartic scaling of the potential energy with displacements along these modes. While attractive disk and polymer packings are often considered hyperstatic with excess contacts over the isostatic number, we identify a definition for interparticle contacts for which they can also be considered as effectively isostatic. As a result, we show that the mechanical properties (e.g., scaling of the potential energy with excess contact number and low-frequency contribution to the density of vibrational modes) of weakly attractive disk and polymer packings are similar to those of isostatic repulsive disk and polymer packings.
