Degree reduction of ball Said-Ball (BSB) surface is a complex and unsolved problem in computer-aided design (CAD) and computer graphics (CG), which has potential application prospects in many engineering fields of geometric modeling. In this paper, the degree reduction of BSB surface is transformed into the optimization problems of center surface and radius function, and the improved coot optimization algorithm is used to solve it. An effective method to solve the degree reduction of BSB surface by intelligent optimization algorithm is proposed. Firstly, the degree reduction of BSB surface is decomposed into center surface reduction and radius function reduction, and the objective function and constraint conditions are determined according to the optimization idea, then the degree reduction optimization model of center surface and radius function is established. Secondly, an enhanced coot (ECOOT for short) algorithm is proposed, which combines chain strategy, dispersed foraging strategy, and quadratic interpolation strategy. Compared with the original algorithm, ECOOT algorithm has better convergence performance and higher calculation accuracy. Finally, the proposed ECOOT algorithm is used to solve the degree reduction optimization model, and the optimal center surface and minimum distance radius function of the BSB surface after degree reduction are obtained. The experimental results show that the ECOOT algorithm can effectively solve the problem of degree reduction for BSB surface, the degree reduction error is reduced by about 20% compared to the original COOT algorithm, and is superior to other intelligent optimization algorithms in accuracy, robustness, and convergence. © 2023 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly through Large Language Models (LLMs), has catalysed a technological revolution, leading to the widespread adoption of AI-driven chatbots across industries. OpenAI’s customisable generative pretrained transformer (GPT) offerings have popularised generative AI, enabling organisations of all sizes to implement chatbots for customer support. This development presents an opportunity for businesses to offer 24/7, cost-efficient customer service that can overcome the historical limitations of chatbots that lack a "human element." However, despite the proliferation of AI chatbots, there remains a crucial need to evaluate their effectiveness in meeting user needs and preferences for human-like interaction. Current service quality assessment tools, such as SERVQUAL and E-SERVQUAL, are unable to evaluate AI-specific capabilities like language intelligence and recognition. Existing research also lacks information on factors that affect user satisfaction and the continued use of AI chatbots. Based on a mixed-methods study, this paper proposes a new instrument for measuring user satisfaction with AI chatbots, specifically for customer support roles. Using the Stanford five-step Design Thinking Process, this study devised a customer support AI chatbot evaluation instrument through a literature review, Cheatstorming, and SCAMPER techniques, followed by testing in a Danish company. The research employs Prentice and Nguyen’s three-stage scale development process to ensure content, reliability, and construct validity, addressing gaps in current scholarship and advancing understanding of AI chatbot user satisfaction. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

We study the multi-agent formation control problem in a directed graph. The relative configurations are expressed by unit dual quaternions (UDQs). We call such a weighted directed graph a unit dual quaternion directed graph (UDQDG). We show that a desired relative configuration scheme is reasonable or balanced in a UDQDG if and only if there is a diagonal matrix with UDQ diagonal elements such that the dual quaternion Laplacian is similar to the unweighted Laplacian of the underlying directed graph. A direct method and a unit gain graph method are proposed to solve the balance problem of general unit weighted directed graphs. We then study the balance problem of general non-unit weighted directed graphs. Numerical experiments for UDQDG are reported. © 2025 Elsevier B.V.

This paper addresses the problem of efficiently scheduling of EV charging requests in a single Charging Station (CS), also taking into consideration the inability of EV users to express their preferences in closed-form utility functions. We consider a paradigm where a menu of possible charging intervals, each associated with an urgency price, is generated online. By letting the EV users pick their most preferable menu option, the proposed algorithm commits on each EV’s charging completion time upon its arrival, achieves a near optimal total weighted charging completion time, and prevents the users from strategically misreporting their preferences, while offering a practical and implementable solution to the problem of EVs - charging station interaction. Our experimental evaluation demonstrates that our algorithmic approach performs nearly optimal in a variety of practically relevant scenarios. © 2010-2012 IEEE.

High Na^þ intake has been linked to elevations in blood pressure, whereas K^þ has the opposite effect. The underlying mechanisms involve complex interactions among renal function, fluid volume, fluid-regulatory hormones, vasculature, cardiac function, and the autonomic nervous system. These mechanisms are likely modulated by sex, given the known sex differences in blood pressure regulation and the higher prevalence of hypertension in men. The source of these observed sex differences may be traced to organ and tissue levels, given that kidney function, intrarenal renin-angiotensin system components, renal sympathetic nervous activity, and nitric oxide bioavailability all exhibit sex differences. To assess the functional impact of each of these sex differences, we developed sex-specific computational models to simulate whole-body Na^þ, K^þ, and fluid homeostasis, and the effects on blood pressure. The models describe the interactions among the renal system, cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal system, renal sympathetic nervous system, and renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. Model simulations suggest that women’s attenuated blood pressure response to hypertensive stimuli, including high Na^þ intake, may be largely attributable to the female renal transporter abundance pattern. In addition, we investigated the causal link between high K^þ intake and blood pressure reduction. The models simulate renal response to high K^þ intake, including the immediate gastrointestinal feedforward signals to the kidneys to increase K^þ excretion, and the longer-term response to decrease proximal fractional Na^þ reabsorption and distal K^þ reabsorption. With these assumptions, simulations of high K^þ intake yielded kaliuresis, natriuresis, and a substantial reduction in blood pressure, even when combined with high Na^þ intake. Polarization sensitivity is a fundamental phenomenon observed in nature, and its application is vital for advancing scientific discoveries. Here, we present a microsphere-assisted polarized light microscopy method that enables high-quality, label-free super-resolution imaging of polarization-sensitive materials. We investigated the imaging performance of this method using various samples, including colloidal crystals and grating structures. Both simulations and experiments were performed to explore the underlying physical mechanisms driving the enhancement in imaging quality. The results of this work have potential values for the fields of polarized light microscopy and super-resolution imaging. © 2025 Optica Publishing Group. In this paper,we investigate the stable matching problem with multiple preferences in bipartite graphs,where each agent has various preference lists for all available partners with respect to different *** problem requires that each matched agent must have exactly one partner and the obtained matching should be stable for all *** our main contribution,we present an integer linear programming(ILP)model for determining whether there exists a globally stable matching in bipartite graphs,which has been proved to be *** the time consumed for solving ILPs might dramatically increase as the size of instances grows,we develop a preprocessing technique that helps to eliminate pairs that will never be a member of any globally stable matching and thus accelerates the computing *** perform experiments on randomly generated preference lists and observe a significant speedup when we preprocess the instance before solving the *** there does not need to exist a perfect matching that is stable for all given criteria,we extend our ILP to the optimized version of the aforementioned problem,which asks to find a matching with maximum cardinality that is stable among all matched agents.

In this paper, the problem of cubature Kalman fusion filtering(CKFF) is addressed for multi-sensor systems under amplify-and-forward(AaF) relays. For the purpose of facilitating data transmission, AaF relays are utilized to regulate signal communication between sensors and filters. Here, the randomly varying channel parameters are represented by a set of stochastic variables whose occurring probabilities are permitted to exhibit bounded uncertainty. Employing the spherical-radial cubature principle, a local filter under AaF relays is initially constructed. This construction ensures and minimizes an upper bound of the filtering error covariance by designing an appropriate filter gain. Subsequently, the local filters are fused through the application of the covariance intersection fusion rule. Furthermore, the uniform boundedness of the filtering error covariance's upper bound is investigated through establishing certain sufficient conditions. The effectiveness of the proposed CKFF scheme is ultimately validated via a simulation experiment concentrating on a three-phase induction machine.

Epileptic seizures, a prevalent neurological condition, necessitate precise and prompt identification for optimal care. Nevertheless, the intricate characteristics of electroencephalography (EEG) signals, noise, and the want for real-time analysis require enhancement in the creation of dependable detection approaches. Despite advances in machine learning and deep learning, capturing the intricate spatial and temporal patterns in EEG data remains challenging. This study introduced a novel deep learning framework combining a convolutional neural network (CNN), bidirectional gated recurrent unit (BiGRU), and convolutional block attention module (CBAM). The CNN extracts spatial features, the BiGRU captures long-term temporal dependencies, and the CBAM emphasizes critical spatial and temporal regions, creating a hybrid architecture optimized for EEG pattern recognition. Evaluation of a public EEG dataset revealed superior performance compared to existing methods. The model achieved 99.00% accuracy in binary classification, 96.20% in three-class tasks, 92.00% in four-class scenarios, and 89.00% in five-class classification. High sensitivity (89.00–99.00%) and specificity (89.63–99.00%) across all tasks highlighted the model’s robust ability to identify diverse EEG patterns. This approach supports healthcare professionals in diagnosing epileptic seizures accurately and promptly, improving patient outcomes and quality of life. © 2025 American Institute of Mathematical sciences.
